Samsung Galaxy S III Mini, Samsung Galaxy S II Plus and Samsung Galaxy Premier leaked

0. phoneArena posted on 31 Aug 2012, 17:51

Speculation is rampant that Samsung is going to offer a version of its highly successful Samsung Galaxy S III with a 4 inch screen while the Samsung Galaxy S II Plus should really be the Minus with a less powerful single-core processor under the hood...

Ok as much as I love Samsung, really a "SGS2 PLUS" but yet it has lower specs? Shouldnt the PLUS mean it has MORE, NOT LESS? lol

Anyway long live the SGS3 and Note 2. I like the idea of a smaller screen as well, but at 480 by 800, it's MEH. I still want a 720p on a 4 inch, why? Why not?

3. Commentator posted on 31 Aug 2012, 18:03 5 1

Maybe the Plus means "plus a negative number," which indeed would be a step down. It would be easier just to call it the Minus though...

6. TylerGrunter posted on 31 Aug 2012, 18:06 1

Because they are not able to put so many pixels in the screen (yet) using AMOLED technology... The better they can do is 330 dpi for Super Amoled (read pentile) and 275 for Super Amoled Plus.
I also would like a phone with a smaller screen and all the other goodies. But for me it would be OK if they use a 1024x600 in a 4.3 inches screen which they can do do already.

you said everything i was saying aloud while reading this aritcle LOL...............but the galaxy s premier sounds really interesting! wating to see more of that one

13. Peter98 posted on 31 Aug 2012, 19:55 4

Because they just want to release some lower price smartphones to compete with the iPhone.

2. TylerGrunter posted on 31 Aug 2012, 18:01

The rumors does not really make any sense. If there is an issue with the S2 is the low resolution of the screen for a 4.3 inches devie (216 dpi). So if there is a Galaxy S II Plus it will probably use a screen with better resolution and the Exynos 4212 instead of the 4210. That makes sense, but a phone with 8MP camera, 16GB internal memory and a single core CPU does not make any sense, why to screw a phone with the SoC when it´s not one of the most expensive components of the phone?

If true there could be plenty of options and price ranges for people there. Lessons to be noted for ifans that a mini version of the top handset galaxy s3 costs just over a 1/3 of the apple handset it closely matches.

5. rickywinataa posted on 31 Aug 2012, 18:06

if samsung is going to launch a smaller s3, it would be qHD, 4- 4.5 inch, a dual core processor running jelly bean and a 5 Mpix camera

10. clevername posted on 31 Aug 2012, 18:54

Why would you say that? Has Samsung ever released a device with a qhd screen?

19. RORYREVOLUTION posted on 31 Aug 2012, 22:32

Samsung makes the qHD Super Amoled displays found on some HTC devices and Motorola RAZR devices. BUT they have never actually used it on their own devices.

SGS2 had 480 by 800 and then they went right start up to 720p with the Galaxy Nexus

8. khmer posted on 31 Aug 2012, 18:30 1

Galaxy S3 mini is the best specs. and low cost $314.50 no contract, I love it. Old Galaxy S2 cost $400.

9. redmd posted on 31 Aug 2012, 18:52

. SGS3 mini would have 4 in qHD display, the specs on the rest will be that of SGS3. So it would be a small SGS3, a true mini. Sometimes Samsung makes unnecessary products. Releasing a jellybean version of their old products might do the trick.

11. remixfa posted on 31 Aug 2012, 18:56 1

yea, me thinks the specs are quite OBVIOUSLY wrong between the "premier" and the "plus".

the SGS2 gets smaller and single core, and the premier gets bigger? lol come on. who's making up these stats? If its an SGS2+ its going to either be the krait pro, 4212, or a slim chance of E5 dual. Maybe the "premier" has a single core, but not the SGS2. that would make ZERO sense.

12. Joshing4fun posted on 31 Aug 2012, 19:41

Umm... Samsung that's not a mini. That's a mid/low range handset. A mini would just mean it's smaller.

14. htc_prep posted on 31 Aug 2012, 20:26 2

it may be just me, but this has shades of HTC and their late 2010 early 2011 stumble. HTC released 1 major phone that changed the game (even though the galaxy s III is a refinement not a huge innovatior), they won awards and won with the crowds favoritism and realized, "hey we have a great phone" then released a spin off for every regional carrier and lost sight on quality parts (samsung already doesnt have the best choice in radio selection) and lost interest in updating lower end or more non popular device.

Samsung should ride the wave with the other big carriers with the less is more mantra and not try to have their hand in every pot.

15. Droid_X_Doug posted on 31 Aug 2012, 20:55 1

If they go into the small footprint space, they seem to be begging Apple to sue them yet again. Maybe Sammy should try releasing the Note II to more carriers in the U.S.?

37. htc_prep posted on 04 Sep 2012, 19:10

IDK but im pretty sure the press release stated that it was only released on HSPA+ and LTE networks knocking sprint and verizion out the running.

16. Samsomesh posted on 31 Aug 2012, 21:13

If SGS3 is real story and price is $314 then im sure to get it,.. But the specs are somewhat similar to SGS duoS.!

17. shamataa posted on 31 Aug 2012, 21:40

Why would you do this? The specs are all BS!

38. htc_prep posted on 04 Sep 2012, 19:11

looking back these specs are very similar to the samsung victory that is headed to Sprint

S3 mini to compete wth the new iphone?? Is sammy out of their mind!! Y all ths whn s3 is alrdy kickn iphone butts!!! :p

30. Just_a_boy posted on 01 Sep 2012, 12:02 1

I think that the editor of the post is underestimated the new iPhone, iPhone will always be a Top tier phone doesn't matter the specs.

20. bucky posted on 31 Aug 2012, 22:38 1

An sgs3 mini with the same specs as the s3 but 4.3" screen would be heaven.

21. Forsaken77 posted on 31 Aug 2012, 23:18

The "Plus" makes no sense. I call bullsh!t on that one. They're making an inferior version and calling it "plus?"

22. pikapowerize (banned) posted on 31 Aug 2012, 23:50

this is just weird.. mini but not par to the s3? well maybe its ok.. at least they just keep the same specs but change the screen size...

dont like the idea of the s2 plus though... it should be named s2 MINUS since it will remove dual core and screen size!

i think samsung will keep on using s3's design now coz of apple's dress code... i just hope they will make android device as sexy as the ativ s! seriously, that phone is much sexier than s3's design!

23. Alistaire posted on 01 Sep 2012, 00:02

nice way to put it. probably sammy just needed to refresh their line up (curious to see if they tweak the inner and outer) since apple is trying to ban their current line up from selling in the usa.

24. bayhuy posted on 01 Sep 2012, 00:08 1 1

Crapsung! Start updating your devices instead of flooding the market....

26. Leo_MC posted on 01 Sep 2012, 04:13

Samsung makes fun of buyer's intelligence: SIII mini is not a SIII, it is a SGS1 with dual core and different design.

27. osamalone posted on 01 Sep 2012, 05:23

i think even if they want a smaller screen they should go with 4.3 because maybe 4.8 is big but according to today's standerd's 4.3 will be good for movie as well as for every day use
and if a person wants to shift from iphone and wants a smaller display of 4 then i think he should stick to the lol :p because today 4.3 is a normal screen and 3.5 is teensy screen

28. rusticguy posted on 01 Sep 2012, 08:33

Samsung Galaxy S III "Mini" ?
Heck they are opening themselves up for yet another legal case from patent trolls.
Buyers cannot distinguish between iPad mini and SIII mini because for them anything with word "mini" means it's apple product .... :D

31. downphoenix posted on 01 Sep 2012, 14:31

an HD display can be put on a 4.3. And why the downgrade of the other stuff? Its not really a smaller version of the s3 if its a lesser version of it too.

32. iphoneisthebest79 posted on 02 Sep 2012, 03:26

samsick is trying to collect money to pay appel debt by selling craps to you, shrinking a SGS3 will be Mini, stretching SGS3 and it will become samsung galaxy note 2 and putting a letter '' S '' in front off their new products. f**k that even they copied the litter ''s'' from appel knowing there are 26 litters in english language.

33. Klamba92 posted on 02 Sep 2012, 08:25 1

First if English is your first language learn how to spell! Secondly the "S" in the Galaxy line most probably stands for Samsung so i don't know why you are saying the "S" is from apple just because they have the 3GS or the 4S, also didn't apple take the name iPhone from someone else?

34. iphoneisthebest79 posted on 03 Sep 2012, 13:12

forget about my english, yes english it's not my language, but read this article and then tell me samsung its not copying iphone

35. Klamba92 posted on 04 Sep 2012, 08:47

Yh i know about the S cloud but iCloud was not the first cloud storage for mobile devices any way so i don't see why there is a problem. However Android has Google drive, Drop box etc so i feel the S cloud is unneeded as well as waste and i have a SGS3!

36. iphoneisthebest79 posted on 04 Sep 2012, 13:26

i know there are a several type of storage, but using the word (( cloud )) !!!!! do you think there aren't another word?? i think samsung is trying to loose another 1 billion dollars.
for example: sony is an android phone but it has his own software view and it doesn't look like htc which is an android phone too. i mean each one has his own appearance and not trying to copy another phone. I am an Iphone user but i love sony and htc
