We ran Samsung's Exynos chipset against the first dual-core phone with NVIDIA Tegra 2 silicon, the LG Optimus 2X, and the Samsung Galaxy S II results on the synthetic benchmark tests went off the charts...

Go Samsung!! 3732 score on benchmark is amazing!!!!!!!!
I never seen this score unless device's been overclocked..
The best smartphone ever.. Throw the I-phone into trash lol

OMG OMG WOW i mean WTF you guys creaming yourselves over Quadrant..
Its only synthetic benchmarks guys. How does it go in REAL life is what i'm interested in...

In real life, it means that everything is faster. MUCH faster. Just compare the G2X (not Optimus 2X which is plagued with buggy software) to single core devices. You will notice a significant improvement in speed. Of course this is because of the dual core processor..
But I must agree with you that Quadrant isn't as important as many people present it as. It is mainly bragging rights.

MUCH faster my ass. I could make my Dell Streak 5 produce 1800+ quad scores up from 800 and it still performed like a dog. The same goes for the original SGS. Even with the ext4 file system hacks it lagged, but the 1600+ quadrant scores it was getting suggested otherwise..

what's the point of all the speed if the device is still buggy and laggy most of the time.
57. lacp (unregistered)
What buggy, what hell! It's the most smooth android phone and the most smooth phone of all existent phones even that the IPhone 4.
58. rayjones09 (Posts: 149; Member since: 16 Dec 2010)
See, you were going well for awhile. I'm sorry, but NO Android device no matter how fast and smooth is as smooth as IOS or WP7. You'd be deliberately delusional to actually believe that.

i plan to sell iphone 4, this sg2 will be my next phone, i hope price not to much

its expensive unless u do a 2 year contract it is 200 dollars
45. Niels (unregistered)
I think if you're used to the overpriced iPhone this phone will be very cheap for you.
3. Andy (unregistered)
benchmark is meaning less. galaxy s can achieve a higher score without overclock.
although the score for galaxy s is high, it is still not very smooth
4. tony (unregistered)
amazing, i sold my iphone 4 to get this, currently awaiting delivery from Gum Mobile, very excited to get this fantastic device

LG opitums 2x has better screen than galaxy s2 but still can't see it direct under sun light and it's IPS panel?! Super Amoled plus looks good but Amoled screen still has some issue with burn off effect and darn battery life in white color! Sorry fandroid but both of them can't trust it's all about the look but when it comes to quality, functionality still HTC,Motorola the best.
13. AppleFUD (unregistered)
You obviously haven't been keeping, expected from an isheep like you.
The S Amoled + is probably the best screen on a handset today--every reviewer has even stated that including the flaming ifan reviewers. Second, the battery life on this thing is great--average users will see at least two days use easily.
Now go back to sucking on your iToy.

How do you know he has an iPhone?! This person never alluded to having that device but because he speaks contrary to your opinion, you call him a sheep and assumes he has an iPhone. You Android fans kill me.
43. Sancheezmo (unregistered)
His name is IOS5. Iphone Operating System. Thats how he knows you idiot.
60. rayjones09 (Posts: 149; Member since: 16 Dec 2010)
The idiot who's doing something with his life I'm sure. I can guarantee I'm younger than you yet exhibiting a far higher level of intellect and maturity than you. What a shame. I've never seen people so eager to harshly judge a person's competence and intelligence over a phone OS choice. And I'm the idiot...right...
62. superpiff (unregistered)
yeah but he said htc and motorola were the best so that would suggest that his opinion is unbiased, and maybe he doesnt have an iphone currently and is interested in the iphone 5 whenever thats comin out.
59. rayjones09 (Posts: 149; Member since: 16 Dec 2010)
See, I get thumbs down for no reason. Just for speaking contrary to Android. Bollocks.
63. superpiff (unregistered)
i dont think has to do with your opinion as much as your tone, things come across harsh when written.ill give you a thumbs up

What are you talking about? The G2x has a nice ips screen, but its not a "retina display" like the iphone's IPS Screen (which is made by LG as well). The ips on the G2x is almost as good as the super amoled on my vibrant (i put them side by side), but it is blown out by the higher pixel count in the SGS2's Super Amoled +. And what burn off effect are you talking about? Really? Where do you get your info?
I love when iBots try to tell people that actually use android which manufacturers are the best. The GalaxyS is the best phone ive ever owned (and ive had quite a few) by far. If you want a high end android device, your best bet.. in order.. is Samsung- HTC- LG- Motorola (GalaxyS2, Evo3D/Sensation, LG G2x/3d, Atrix/bionix(the second one..lol).). The only reason i didnt give the LG higher is because they are still new to the game. the G2X is a fantastic device.

You might be falling for Tegra's FPS limit trick on Smartbench. The S2 has a hard limit of 60 FPS to save power while Tegra allows for higher FPS than 60 to score better on benchmarks even if the LCD screen can't display it. Smartbench game tests looks very simple. Try something harder for the GPU like GLBenchmark 2.0 Egypt test to better compare the GPUs.
11. KingK (unregistered)
No, you are falling for sgs 2's graphic trick, thinking mali is hot shit when its junk. lol
Quadrant is all over the place for sgs2 , from 2500 to 3700. \
Pretty pointless to compare 2.2 to 2.3
17. remixfa (Posts: 14255; Member since: 19 Dec 2008)
the difference in the sgs2 is that the lower end quadrants are run on a preproduction SGS2 that was clocked at 1ghz and not optimized. The 3000+ quads are on the retail release thats been optimized and clock has been raised to 1200mhz.
technically, 2.3 doesnt do much of anything for graphix. many people have had a speed decrease not an increase when going to 2.3.. at least in quadrant.
37. PHONE_FREAK (Posts: 51; Member since: 20 Oct 2010)
I don't think that quadrant is fully optimized for 2.3. Not to long ago, the test would fail. Correct me if I'm wrong.
47. remixfa (Posts: 14255; Member since: 19 Dec 2008)
it runs fine. i run it on my vibrant with 2.3.3 on it. I dont know of there ever being a problem with it because as soon as 2.3 came out, people were benchmarking it.
There just isnt a big increase like everyone is expecting.
Also, quadrant hasnt been dual core optimized yet so who knows whats going to happen to the scores if they do finaly optimize it.
64. superpiff (unregistered)
xda developers recognized that quadrant sometimes didnt work well with gingerbread broseph.
65. superpiff (unregistered)
also if you have data2ext your quadrant score will balloon, i believe it has something to do with I/O part of the test.i get anywhere from 2200 to 2500 with boyppc-shiftpda ginger sense.s rom on my Hd2 u.s. but if i dont have data2ext then i get around 1700 to 1900.
67. Jeez (unregistered)
wc326 over at XDA has done the GLBenchmark comparison. Sympathy for the guy who just got his 2X devaluated. Egypt real app test 23.3 vs 41 fps.
