Samsung Galaxy S II vs LG Optimus 2X benchmark tests - guess who scored 3732 on Quadrant
0. phoneArena posted on 30 Apr 2011, 03:13
We ran Samsung's Exynos chipset against the first dual-core phone with NVIDIA Tegra 2 silicon, the LG Optimus 2X, and the Samsung Galaxy S II results on the synthetic benchmark tests went off the charts...

Go Samsung!! 3732 score on benchmark is amazing!!!!!!!!
I never seen this score unless device's been overclocked..
The best smartphone ever.. Throw the I-phone into trash lol

OMG OMG WOW i mean WTF you guys creaming yourselves over Quadrant..
Its only synthetic benchmarks guys. How does it go in REAL life is what i'm interested in...
36. PHONE_FREAK posted on 30 Apr 2011, 20:54 3
In real life, it means that everything is faster. MUCH faster. Just compare the G2X (not Optimus 2X which is plagued with buggy software) to single core devices. You will notice a significant improvement in speed. Of course this is because of the dual core processor..
But I must agree with you that Quadrant isn't as important as many people present it as. It is mainly bragging rights.
44. cheetah2k posted on 30 Apr 2011, 23:50 1
MUCH faster my ass. I could make my Dell Streak 5 produce 1800+ quad scores up from 800 and it still performed like a dog. The same goes for the original SGS. Even with the ext4 file system hacks it lagged, but the 1600+ quadrant scores it was getting suggested otherwise..
55. donzere posted on 01 May 2011, 23:04 3
what's the point of all the speed if the device is still buggy and laggy most of the time.
57. lacp (unregistered) posted on 02 May 2011, 10:44 2
What buggy, what hell! It's the most smooth android phone and the most smooth phone of all existent phones even that the IPhone 4.
58. rayjones09 posted on 02 May 2011, 13:01 1
See, you were going well for awhile. I'm sorry, but NO Android device no matter how fast and smooth is as smooth as IOS or WP7. You'd be deliberately delusional to actually believe that.
2. mr smy (unregistered) posted on 30 Apr 2011, 03:43 5
i plan to sell iphone 4, this sg2 will be my next phone, i hope price not to much

45. Niels (unregistered) posted on 01 May 2011, 04:18 1
I think if you're used to the overpriced iPhone this phone will be very cheap for you.
3. Andy (unregistered) posted on 30 Apr 2011, 03:56 3
benchmark is meaning less. galaxy s can achieve a higher score without overclock.
although the score for galaxy s is high, it is still not very smooth
4. tony (unregistered) posted on 30 Apr 2011, 04:23 5
amazing, i sold my iphone 4 to get this, currently awaiting delivery from Gum Mobile, very excited to get this fantastic device

LG opitums 2x has better screen than galaxy s2 but still can't see it direct under sun light and it's IPS panel?! Super Amoled plus looks good but Amoled screen still has some issue with burn off effect and darn battery life in white color! Sorry fandroid but both of them can't trust it's all about the look but when it comes to quality, functionality still HTC,Motorola the best.
13. AppleFUD (unregistered) posted on 30 Apr 2011, 09:01 3
You obviously haven't been keeping, expected from an isheep like you.
The S Amoled + is probably the best screen on a handset today--every reviewer has even stated that including the flaming ifan reviewers. Second, the battery life on this thing is great--average users will see at least two days use easily.
Now go back to sucking on your iToy.

How do you know he has an iPhone?! This person never alluded to having that device but because he speaks contrary to your opinion, you call him a sheep and assumes he has an iPhone. You Android fans kill me.

The idiot who's doing something with his life I'm sure. I can guarantee I'm younger than you yet exhibiting a far higher level of intellect and maturity than you. What a shame. I've never seen people so eager to harshly judge a person's competence and intelligence over a phone OS choice. And I'm the idiot...right...
62. superpiff (unregistered) posted on 02 May 2011, 13:45 1
yeah but he said htc and motorola were the best so that would suggest that his opinion is unbiased, and maybe he doesnt have an iphone currently and is interested in the iphone 5 whenever thats comin out.

i dont think has to do with your opinion as much as your tone, things come across harsh when written.ill give you a thumbs up
18. remixfa posted on 30 Apr 2011, 10:43 1
What are you talking about? The G2x has a nice ips screen, but its not a "retina display" like the iphone's IPS Screen (which is made by LG as well). The ips on the G2x is almost as good as the super amoled on my vibrant (i put them side by side), but it is blown out by the higher pixel count in the SGS2's Super Amoled +. And what burn off effect are you talking about? Really? Where do you get your info?
I love when iBots try to tell people that actually use android which manufacturers are the best. The GalaxyS is the best phone ive ever owned (and ive had quite a few) by far. If you want a high end android device, your best bet.. in order.. is Samsung- HTC- LG- Motorola (GalaxyS2, Evo3D/Sensation, LG G2x/3d, Atrix/bionix(the second one..lol).). The only reason i didnt give the LG higher is because they are still new to the game. the G2X is a fantastic device.
7. Jeez (unregistered) posted on 30 Apr 2011, 06:18 0
You might be falling for Tegra's FPS limit trick on Smartbench. The S2 has a hard limit of 60 FPS to save power while Tegra allows for higher FPS than 60 to score better on benchmarks even if the LCD screen can't display it. Smartbench game tests looks very simple. Try something harder for the GPU like GLBenchmark 2.0 Egypt test to better compare the GPUs.
11. KingK (unregistered) posted on 30 Apr 2011, 07:33 0
No, you are falling for sgs 2's graphic trick, thinking mali is hot shit when its junk. lol
Quadrant is all over the place for sgs2 , from 2500 to 3700. \
Pretty pointless to compare 2.2 to 2.3
17. remixfa posted on 30 Apr 2011, 10:32 1
the difference in the sgs2 is that the lower end quadrants are run on a preproduction SGS2 that was clocked at 1ghz and not optimized. The 3000+ quads are on the retail release thats been optimized and clock has been raised to 1200mhz.
technically, 2.3 doesnt do much of anything for graphix. many people have had a speed decrease not an increase when going to 2.3.. at least in quadrant.
37. PHONE_FREAK posted on 30 Apr 2011, 20:58 0
I don't think that quadrant is fully optimized for 2.3. Not to long ago, the test would fail. Correct me if I'm wrong.
47. remixfa posted on 01 May 2011, 09:51 0
it runs fine. i run it on my vibrant with 2.3.3 on it. I dont know of there ever being a problem with it because as soon as 2.3 came out, people were benchmarking it.
There just isnt a big increase like everyone is expecting.
Also, quadrant hasnt been dual core optimized yet so who knows whats going to happen to the scores if they do finaly optimize it.
64. superpiff (unregistered) posted on 02 May 2011, 13:52 0
xda developers recognized that quadrant sometimes didnt work well with gingerbread broseph.
65. superpiff (unregistered) posted on 02 May 2011, 13:58 0
also if you have data2ext your quadrant score will balloon, i believe it has something to do with I/O part of the test.i get anywhere from 2200 to 2500 with boyppc-shiftpda ginger sense.s rom on my Hd2 u.s. but if i dont have data2ext then i get around 1700 to 1900.
67. Jeez (unregistered) posted on 02 May 2011, 17:43 0
wc326 over at XDA has done the GLBenchmark comparison. Sympathy for the guy who just got his 2X devaluated. Egypt real app test 23.3 vs 41 fps.

@ios5 where the hell riding you get the information that LG has a better screen than gs2? you are highly misinformed even the original galaxy s has a better display than the LG.
10. som posted on 30 Apr 2011, 07:19 2
Samsung are making most components for their smartphones and tablets and LG bought some components from other companies.
Samsung is a winner in research and developments in components that Apple and others are depend on.
12. IOS5 (unregistered) posted on 30 Apr 2011, 08:22 0
@Lzoe yes LG 2x has better screen its LCD IPS panel the screen looks like blasma TV and Super Amoled looks like LED TV?! i try out the Super Amoled with galaxy s and LG opitmus 2x i know that Super Amoled plus its diffrent than normal Super Amoled but still it looks like Super Amoled. still prefer Sony Ericcson Arc Mobile BRAVIA engine screen for watching youtube video and movies belive that its better than both!
14. Heatfan316 (unregistered) posted on 30 Apr 2011, 10:11 0
Good to see the optimus keep up with that Samsung beast I have a g2x should be even closer when the g2x gets 2.3 but I still love that Samsung
15. TT (unregistered) posted on 30 Apr 2011, 10:23 0
One thing that should be mentioned:
The Galaxy S II is capped on 60 frames per second, while the Optimus 2X is capped on 120 frames per second. This tends to skew results for GPU benchmarks. (Note how much more frames it's getting in the relatively weak "Planet" test in Quadrant. Meanwhile, the S II would've likely gotten much more in Nenamark if it hadn't been capped.)
16. ragmuffin (unregistered) posted on 30 Apr 2011, 10:31 0
Okay, we need to bear in mind that the Galaxy S 2 runs on a 1.2 GHz dual core chipset, whereas the Optimus 2x runs on a 1 GHz dual core CPU. That's about 400 MHz of difference right there. It's almost like you're comparing the Wildfire with the Incredible S. Plus the GS2 runs on Gingerbread whereas the Optimus 2x runs on Froyo. Upgrade it to Gingerbread and then we might have a fair comparison. As all may know, dual core CPUs run better and faster on Gingerbread or Honeycomb. But of course, we can't take away anything from the Galaxy S 2. It is a remarkable device indeed.
In terms of display though, there is no match to Samsung's Super AMOLED Plus. It probably is the best there has been and to be honest that has been their major selling point, the displays. So this seems like a slightly unfair comparison to be honest. I personally would like a comparison between the Motorola Atrix 4G and the Optimus 2x. That would be more fair I think. Good day.
19. remixfa posted on 30 Apr 2011, 10:46 1
fagmuffin.. that isnt 2 cores running at 1200... its 2 cores running at 600 to make 1200....lol.
46. ragmuffin (unregistered) posted on 01 May 2011, 05:29 0
Wow, I have a lot to learn from a nutpicker like you. So according to you the Galaxy S 2 has four cores? LOL :D
You crack me up man, big time :P
51. remixfa posted on 01 May 2011, 15:07 0
and where did i say anything about it running a quadcore? lol.
66. superpiff (unregistered) posted on 02 May 2011, 14:05 0
i believe your wrong. if im not mistaken its 2 1.2 gigahertz processers. why would they need to give you 2 processors for 200 extra megahertz when old phones run 1 gigahertz or 1000 megahertz with only one processor that doesnt make sense broseph.i guess ignorance is bliss
20. taz (unregistered) posted on 30 Apr 2011, 11:54 0
@remixfa... i think its you who is wrong lol its 2 cores running at 1.2ghz.....follow this link if you dont believe me.
48. remixfa posted on 01 May 2011, 10:00 0
your link is dead.
but yes, i was incorrect about how the clock speed is calculated. I was thinking back to an ariticle about power consumption and how one of the cores turn off and the other will drop mhz to conserve battery when not in use.. which makes them better juice sippers than single core...
Still.. ragmuffin, going from 1ghz to 1.2 ghz is not 400mhz of difference which is what i was commenting on to begin with. Its 1 chip running at 1200mhz with 2 cores in it. that doesnt mean its really a 2400mhz chip, which is what you seem to be implying by the 400mhz comment. The cores arent added together to make a new number. the mhz is the mhz.
21. protozeloz posted on 30 Apr 2011, 12:35 0
for those confused with dual core the clock speed remains the same but the ability of the device to process data is faster depending on how many cores are used
hope this helps clear this =)

I was just curious about them, but I HATE arguments about Android vs. Android phones,'cause both of them are very good.I just bought my SGS(1),and now I'm very happy with it,well satisfied as well.
But guys,please don't hate LG,or SGS2,hate iPhone,Apple,or everything else,but not Android.We must hold together.Share things,enjoy things together,not flaming each other,b'cause somebody loves LG,somebody loves Samsung.
Love both of them.Peace.and hate Apple,if you want to hate on something.

Where is this supposed everywhere? Be real, the Android fans bring up iPhone comparisons first. iPhone fans are in the minority if you want to be honest, or at least they seldomly comment on these articles. Go ahead thumbs down me. It seems almost every logical and rational comment is thumbs down because it's contrary to this Android crave. Grow up.
