Samsung Galaxy S II to be Jelly Beaned next month?
0. phoneArena 15 Jan 2013, 19:42 posted on
Just because the Samsung Galaxy S II isn't the top dog anymore doesn't mean that you can't throw it a bone every now and then, and this is exactly what Samsung intends to do as soon as next month by rolling out Android 4.1 to the handset; the update is expected to be pushed out first to those Galaxy S II users in Singapore before the rest of the world...

I won't be surprised if this update finally hits our phones in December.

The last update ruined my S2. Crap battery life and other major problems. I wonder if this will fix it? I blame sprint. I paid the early termination fee and got the note 2 with tmobile. I'm happier than a Clam at high tide but my wife is still suffering with her pain in the ass S2.argggg!

I feel you. However, I don't seem to have that many problems, it's mainly battery life and call quality. The recent issues I've been having were actually because my battery permanently died and started swelling up. :P
The Jelly Bean update for the Sprint GS2 is already being tested, and it had no bugs except calls, which they've fixed by now. That was like two months ago, so tell your wife to expect something really good!

Good news for those who want the stock rom. For everyone else waiting eagerly, why dont you consider a custom ROM? There are so many available, right from CM10.1 to AOKP to leaked and customised roms. I depend on XDA for all my ROMs and have been enjoying Jellybean for a few months now.

Alot of bland news lately. Guess if its not related to Google or Apple, must be no news on this site. You folks at PA need to quit your fanboyism and be more open minded. This site use to be a great source for up to date tech. Now its just a faboys site.

@joey41 both boost and virgin mobile run off of Sprint's towers, so when they update their s2's, it's a safe bet that boost and virgin will too. @lubba hey buddy, there have been plenty of updates in tablets and phones to make a dedicated reader like me not want to read at all with the abundance of technology in the CES expo alone. Even then, plenty of updates in technology pricing, software updates, as well release dates. You know what the real problem? You have s**t else better to do with your time or your head is lodged far up your ass for you to notice the various articles posted on the daily. Read you jackass, that would help you out alot. Also, even if the site was that bad, who's the genius who keeps coming back for more? Talk about a battered housewife syndrome.lol

I hope the Epic 4G Touch will get JB too. The ICS update has absolutely screwed up the phone. We have 2 E4GT's in my family, and both will randomly lose power and semi-shut off, but will still be on (just unusable with the screen black), and the only way to get it to turn back on is remove the battery. It started happening after the ICS update on both of them, and it is happening close to once a week on each of them.

The Samsung Galaxy S2 is known as the Samsung Epic 4G for Sprint just as it's known as the Samsung Galaxy skyrocket for AT&T. The jelly bean update should be able to fix that, problems like those usually come from the OS build. I also have the Samsung Galaxy S2, it's for boost mobile though, but it's the exact same one as Sprint and virgin mobile seeing how boost and virgin are American subsidiaries of Sprint.

Incorrect. The Skyrocket for ATT is US variant that has the LTE radio and different processor in it from the sprint epic 4G. Even though it sounds like both will get Jelly Bean there are some differences.

Yeah. When they are talking about the GSII, they mean the international variation. The Epic 4G Touch and the Skyrocket are US variations that get their own version of the updates, so we still have to see if they plan on updating these versions as well as the international version.

Believe me am running 4.1.2 on my s2 i9100 and its just like perfect although its leaked rom

I flashed the leaked Jellybean ROM weeks ago. Project Butter is very obvious and Google Now is perfect. Lock screen is slightly dodgy but everything else is perfect.
That explains it in enough detail how to flash it. Rooting not necessary.
