It's both taller and wider than the 3D. But we are talking 2-3 mm. But it's thinner and weighs quite a bit less. I prefer the bigger phones myself. But I've got big hands. But everyone has there own needs.

where is this info? reference?

you do realize that the SGS1 with its 4 inch screen and the Hercules with its 4.5 inch screen are actually very SIMILAR in size. Hell the SGS2 is thinner and lighter than the SGS1 while increasing screen size.
Quit getting so caught up in 1 dimension of the phone.
29. Missed_The_Mark (unregistered)
The phones are the same size externally. The difference is how much bezel AT&T gives you. I get to carry the same size phone but get more screen real estate. Lucky for me, bad for you.
37. Areyoukiddingme (unregistered)
where have you seen the sizes?
76. dj (unregistered)
i agree. my evo does everything i want it too. but it is too big and heavy. not bad in your hand but not good in pocket of dress pants. if you like 4.5 inches on a phone, more power to you. i want something that fits comfortably in my pocket which is why im skipping this phone. bring on the optimus black!

And Verizon is going to charge (rumor has it) $299 for the Bionic vs $199 for a SGS2?!?
26. biophone (Posts: 1900; Member since: 15 Jun 2011)
No GS2 isn't coming to verizon. It will be 300 for the bionic for 300 for the droid prime. To bad the bionic doesn't stand a chance.
35. Thump3rDX17 (Posts: 2160; Member since: 10 May 2010)
the Bionic definitely stands a chance. it's still LTE whereas none of the Galaxy S II phones aren't.
40. biophone (Posts: 1900; Member since: 15 Jun 2011)
No I think it is way better then the GS2. The GS2 has touchwiz and no lte. Enough said right there. However the bionic will die once the droid prime come's out for verizon. Also the vigor should be better then the bionic because it has htc sense :).
46. Thump3rDX17 (Posts: 2160; Member since: 10 May 2010)
the Droid Prime will be better if it comes with LTE and the Vigor i don't think will really be better per say but a viable alternative to the Bionic provided the Vigor's battery is big enough. it looks a little too thin for what it's supposed to be packing.
68. biophone (Posts: 1900; Member since: 15 Jun 2011)
No way the droid prime doesn't have lte. I would laugh if they introduce ICS on a 3g phone. They only reason the vigor is better is because of sense is better then motoblur. If the droid prime comes to verizon who would buy a bionic. They would have to lower the price to like 150 for it to sell.
77. Thump3rDX17 (Posts: 2160; Member since: 10 May 2010)
the Application's Platform is actually really nice on the Droid Bionic and the Droid 3. it's getting better and better whereas Sense is getting worse and worse. the Vigor also supposedly has an HD 720p screen but then i raise my concern about battery life again because like i said it's really skimpy looking in the battery department but if it has an MSM8960 it won't probably won't have terrible battery life but still probably not as good as the Bionic's with it's Pentile qHD display along with it's hefty battery. that might be what they do or they'll bring the Bionic down to $200 and have the Prime at the new Verizon Flagship price of $300.
42. biophone (Posts: 1900; Member since: 15 Jun 2011)
Now i get what your saying. You can get a bionic for 300 on verizon or 200 for sgs2 elsewhere. Well the sgs2 doesn't have lte which cost or fortune nor does it have verizon's great network. The extra 100 is def justified.

if u don't have more then 9.59mm of space in your pocket may i suggest that u slide one these badboys in your purse

I will be getting the att version because T-Mobile and sprint both suk in my area of La. Only att nd Verizon work good in my area and since Verizon wont be getting it at&t here I come..
49. BenCjamin (Posts: 80; Member since: 13 May 2011)
Finally!!! I can't wait to purchase the SGSII for At&t. I like the fact that it has a 4.3 screen and that it's design is closer to original SGSII. I am pre-ordering mine as soon as possible. I have been waiting for forever and now it's just a few weeks away.

Man sg2, nexus prime/droid prime, iphone 5, seems like every month a hot phone is coming out it makes you not want to get anything cause by the time you buy one a better one comes out so fast. Screw it I'm going to get a LTE beeper instead.

I'm sooo glad AT&T went with 4.3 over 4.5! I don't want a tablet-sized phone in my pocket lol. Is that a laptop in your pocket or u just glad to see me? lol. Why no... it's my new GS2.
66. remixfa (Posts: 14255; Member since: 19 Dec 2008)
gawd, now that exynos is official i am back to being heavily torn between the hercules and the nexus prime!!! UGH!!! darn you samsung for making too many killer phones!!! lol
75. remixfa (Posts: 14255; Member since: 19 Dec 2008)
so who wants to start taking side bets on how long it will take for the ICS update for the sGS2?
Im going to say......... July 2012!!
79. Thump3rDX17 (Posts: 2160; Member since: 10 May 2010)
okay, umm..supposing the ICS SDK becomes available in let's say November i think between the middle of February and the end of April.
78. dj (unregistered)
none of these phones are the galaxy s2. they are variants with different dimensions, screen sizes and case designs.
92. dj (unregistered)
then why not call it that? whats with the super epic touch 4g within nonsense? it may be based on the gs2 but its not the gs2. i did not slap your mother. i merely stated my opinion. no need to get defensive
94. dj (unregistered)
its not the gs2... its the HERCULES!!!!!!
82. nihn75 (unregistered)
No ICS, No LTE, No hd screen = No buy
87. Dfone (unregistered)
WAIT A SEC!
I've been waiting for this phone forever, mainly to be able to play movies off of it onto a HDTV. Now in this article it says it only does HDMI out, at 480i (DVD quality). What? 480i, the Samsung infuse does HDMI out at 720p. Is this correct? Because that sucks.
I thought this phone would do 1080p HDMI out...?
91. ltr (unregistered)
Video recording at 1080.
93. Dfone (unregistered)
I watched a demo of them putting the SGSII on a TV, they said full 1080P HDMI out.... Am I wrong? or is this article wrong?
96. ltr (unregistered)
HDMI out through their MHL port, which is half USB/HDMI
It can do 1080 or 720.
But I assume, all three are not going to include the adapter.
97. Dfone (unregistered)
Okay, thanks ltr.
I guess PA has it wrong then.
89. tech-head (unregistered)
Wait.......I thought ICS was supposed to help put a stop to fragmentation and be available for all devices. Shouldn't ICS be available to SG2 whenever it comes out?
106. Thump3rDX17 (Posts: 2160; Member since: 10 May 2010)
that would be ideal but stopping fragmentation like THAT will really walk the line of Android being an open OS and even if Google made manufacturers update simultaneously and let them just skin it later there wouldn't be much product differentiation in the meantime and manufacturers would probably see that as a problem.

Hey Wikipedia is saying that the LTE version is a 1.5ghz snapdragon processor and not exynos. Is there a reason why the exynos can not be clocked up to 1.5?
104. PeterIfromsweden (Posts: 1230; Member since: 03 Aug 2011)
Don't rely on wikipedia. Anyone anonymous can write there, and say the sun is blue, green, purple or whatever.
110. remixfa (Posts: 14255; Member since: 19 Dec 2008)
and yet i get chastised for telling people not to quote wikipedia... lol.
Every major version of the SGS2 is exynos. The alternate version with the tegra2 is reserved for non-prime markets. If they consider an LTE flagship phone "non prime", ill fall over laughing.

Okay, so I have three choices in carriers here, and Sprint is in the lead for our buisness. My wife is trusting me to make her decision for her, and the GS2 (cannot bring myself to say Epic Touch out loud yet. Just can't.) and the Photon are gonna be the coin flip for her. Will have to pay attention to camera performence on the reviews, as that is very important to her and is the one area I know nothing about and can't seem to get into learning about it. GS2 is already ahead in the "monster screen" department. The performance on the two handsets will be fine for her, even though the benchmarks will be better on the GS2. So that is a wash. I will give the nod to update potential to ICS to the Photon. No, I am not stressed out at all....
101. thatoneguy... (unregistered)
if i were you i would just wait until the sgs2 comes out to sprint and than compare it to the photon and evo 3d at the store. Also i noticed you didn't have the evo 3d in your choices to me the phone is much better than the photon 4g don't believe me go look at the customer reviews on sprint the photon has a 82% approval while the evo 3d has a 90% approval
102. snowgator (Posts: 3504; Member since: 19 Jan 2011)
Yep, I have looked at the EVO 3D. I am a huge believer in HTC products. Problem is, Sprint has the weakest reception of the three carriers availabile to us, but I can get an employers discount which makes it a lot cheaper. So, any Sprint device with a low set of reviews on signal strength has to be crossed off. PA's review said it was good signal strength, but most other reviews (phone dog, Cnet, PC Magazine) have rated it low. So, the EVO is not a choice for us. Photon has been rated very well in signal strength.
113. thatoneguy... (unregistered)
Don't believe them i remember last time i took there advice i got the nexus s 4g and phonedog told me it had excellent reception turned out there was a major software issue that didn't allow any body to connect to 4g and wifi. All im saying is you should test it out for your self if it has reception issues than return it
111. cappy718 (unregistered)
Just one last @#$^ you VZW...I still think they're idiots for not carrying this phone. And if they dont get the Prime...I very well may jump ship!
114. osanilevich (Posts: 278; Member since: 29 Sep 2009)
I really think ATT was cheated. Its not the .5 inches of screen that has me ticked, its the fact that the others get a huge battery boost
