This is why I stick to Samsung! They are the best at updating android phones (besides google itself of course) Glad to be a Note II owner! This phone still rocks specially battery.

Yup-per! If memory serves, 4.3 on a Nexus 4 resulted in improved benchmark scores for the Nexus 4. 4.2.2 on the GS 4 seems to be an underwhelming experience. Better to pass on that one.

+1 Agreed on the battery part. If the Evolved Exynos 5 octa in note III working very well and properly this time, triumph the note II and S4 in term of energy efficiency. That will be very interesting.

Well I wouldn't really go so far as to prop the best award to Samsung, suffice to say that they're probably the hardest working Android OEM around (Sony's closing in though whether anyone like it or not) at trying to roll out the latest possible fw upds across their lengthening portfolio. QUALITY however remains debatable. For my i9100g currently, XXLSR fw 4.1.2 contains the SoD (sleep of death) bug that's even worse than leaked 4.2.2 ones for i9300 e.g. Luckily the i9100g being an OMAP 4430 device are well supported on the custom AOSP ROMs' front else the stock fw is something that I have to put up with which I don't.
I still feel that most current Exynos 4 devices aren't performing to its fullest potential for reasons we already know why. Samsung amazingly are still in denial that opening docs/sources up relieves them off at least 50% of developmental burden at delivering fixes/updates to external devs.

No doubts about it. Samsung updated my Galaxy S2 (launched in Feb2011 with Android 2.3) to Jelly bean 4.1.2 in May2013. Who would have thought that..!!!!! Awesome when it comes to updates. I thought that 4.1.2 update shall be the last one for my device but to my amazement I also received a stability update from Samsung OTA AFTER they updated my phone to 4.1.2. Now that deserves applause, coz most OEMs dont care much (like HTC).

First Google has to release 4.3. Then Samsung has to Touchwhizz every corner of it. Lastly the carriers in the US have to approve the update.
It's going to be a long time before anybody sees this update in the US.

already released to the manufactures. Samsung and HTC Google experience devices are running 4.3 I believe. Asus has it for the upcoming Nexus 7 tablet. So certain manufactures already have it and have been working with it for a couple of months now.Submitting it to the carriers is another issue. AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and especially Verizon are the worst when it comes to updates. Both Google and Samsung need to flex their muscles and clamp down on the carries who really only need to test new radio codes and stop with the bloatware stuff.

im surprised that they're going to skip the 4.2.2 update and go str8 to the Android 4.3 update. My S3 will remain relevant until i upgrade to something else

But the 4.2.2 build that leaked a couple of months ago for the inter. S3 says otherwise. Idk I'll have a new phone by then so I'm not worried about the S3.

true, but I'll upgrade before the end of the year so I can play with the S3 having android 4.3 until then

No rush to jump on the note 3 upon its release now that my note 2 gets another update. I might actually hang on to the note 2 for the entire contract.
