That's not even a phone anymore.... 5.5 is way too big
23. SleepingOz (unregistered)
Same size, less bezel..
48. bobfreking55 (Posts: 866; Member since: 15 Jul 2011)
i'm pissed by this. I designed that mock up yet crappy, but ubuntulife claimed it. That mock up can be seen in concept-phones and the dream specs I submitted was 5.5 inches... it's plainly copied from my idea just to stir buzz around the net. :/ and how dare they watermark my design and omit my name.
76. KissyQueeny (banned) (Posts: 17; Member since: 12 Jun 2012)
Your precious design is basically an s3, only streched. You really deserve a cookie for this one.
77. bobfreking55 (Posts: 866; Member since: 15 Jul 2011)
uhm, no I made that from scratch. Yup it's not one of my better designs but what I'm pissed at is the watermark, psssh claiming what they just saw on the internet and removing my name on the bottom left corner...

They should make the resolution 1080p if possible
5. nerdydesi (Posts: 5; Member since: 01 Nov 2011)
Isn't the Galaxy Note 1280x800, so 16:10 ratio? I guess they wanted to preserve that with the 1680x1050 resolution. They'd have to go 1920x1200 to keep 16:10 and I guess they just aren't available for manufacture yet. I'm more than happy with 1680x1050....until 2013 when it will be grossly outdated in a pocketable device. ;)
63. Striker81 (Posts: 1; Member since: 05 Jun 2012)
1680x1050 is 16:10 ratio
Most Android 4 phones are running 1280x720 which is 16:9.
The Note 2 looks to be an amazing phone but I really think they should stick to the 16:9 ratio instead of the 16:10.
It'll be better in the long run when it comes to maintaining correct ratio for running apps. 1080 anyone?? :)
22. jove39 (Posts: 1498; Member since: 18 Oct 2011)
That'll be super cool...but its overhead...in terms of power consumption.
29. Berzerk000 (Posts: 4179; Member since: 26 Jun 2011)
Why 1080p? With the resolution here, the ppi will be 360.
50. PhoneLuver (Posts: 474; Member since: 05 Jul 2010)
Why are they still sticking to 8MP cameras???
57. -box- (Posts: 3973; Member since: 04 Jan 2012)
Because 8MP is more than sufficient. Better to improve the optics and quality than boost megapixels. You could have a 100mp camera, but unless the optics are decent, its photos won't be of greater quality, just higher resolution
45. Dr.Phil (Posts: 1014; Member since: 14 Feb 2011)
For me, it's more important that they make the display a Super AMOLED HD Plus than just upping the resolution.
3. Carlitos (Posts: 410; Member since: 23 Oct 2011)
Dam I hope thats thats the display, thats 360 pixels per inch. Looking foward for this phone.
IT also would make sense to release it in october, just around the time the Iphone 5 comes out. Should be a good competitor.
18. Croxy (Posts: 55; Member since: 06 Dec 2011)
360 ppi is really unnecessary!! Damn even with the small iPhone's screens when you put them close to your eyes, cca 310 ppi, is more than enough for those pixels to be undetectable. But a 5.3. inch display you don't hold that close to your eyes so

Can this please come to Verizon? I will happily buy it off-contract to secure my unlimited data!
34. InspectorGadget80 (Posts: 7035; Member since: 26 Mar 2011)
Verizon have too many good phones already. They dont need the NOT
78. Wildmanfan (Posts: 238; Member since: 15 Jul 2010)
Oh really? Then all the AT&T and T-Mobile people who are passionate about the Note, really don't need your commentary.
6. nerdydesi (Posts: 5; Member since: 01 Nov 2011)
Lets hope that for the LTE models, it will finally keep the Exynos processor and GPU too!!!
7. Allen3697 (Posts: 86; Member since: 26 Mar 2012)
If they can get the screen bigger in the same form factor, it'll be all good.
8. medicci37 (Posts: 1088; Member since: 19 Nov 2011)
If those specs are right, (there probably not) I would definitely wait 4 this device ! In my opinion, the Note was the best smartphone of 2011. & the Note2 will most likely be the best phone coming out this year. If the rumor about the processor is true. It should at least be the most powerful.
31. remixfa (Posts: 14255; Member since: 19 Dec 2008)
I can see it possibly being an A15, but I think it would be at least 2 gig.. well at least for the american version. This would be an upgrade from the international SGS3, but a downgrade from the american SGS3.
it would be awesome if it were a bit smaller. i think 5.5 would be well out of my hand size even with a smaller bezel. I finally got ahold of a Note and it was just a bit too big for my taste as is. Holding it was fine, I just dont want it in my pockets.. lol.
40. KingKurogiii (Posts: 5685; Member since: 23 Oct 2011)
is that a Galaxy Note in your pocket or are you just happy to see me baby? ;)
44. _PHug_ (Posts: 421; Member since: 11 Oct 2011)
Smaller and Note don't belong in the same sentence.
Smaller = the SGS3
The Note's bloodline should remain pure, there are THOUSANDS of smaller options
51. remixfa (Posts: 14255; Member since: 19 Dec 2008)
oh, i dont care what its called, I just want the A15 exynos and Super Amoled HD screen. :)
67. medicci37 (Posts: 1088; Member since: 19 Nov 2011)
Yeah, I was thinking Samsung would stay with a 5.3 display, & reduce the width with the space they saved from the bezel shrink.
9. BREvenson (Posts: 238; Member since: 17 May 2012)
Okay, it's just my opinion, but Samsung is getting a little carried away right now. They already have the GS III coming this month (to every major carrier, no less) and the original Note was released just this past October...? I mean, it's great to have a little variety with what device you can choose, but give the consumer a break here.
This will be a big topic for the next few months, especially if the S III sells well as expected. There will be a lot of talking, both good and bad.
12. McLTE (Posts: 747; Member since: 18 Oct 2011)
No.. lets NOT give me a break here!
Being on Verizon, we didn't get the Note.. so I want a crack at the Note2!
This is the rumor that I was waiting for.. my eyes are now off the GSIII and firmly towards the horizon and the Note2!
It's really the perfect phone/phablet or whatever you want to call it.. for me.
My Nexus will definitely take a back seat to this beast!
14. Whateverman (Posts: 3237; Member since: 17 May 2009)
Thank you! I'm so tired of wondering and waiting for the Note/Journal or whatever on VZW! If they skip this one... I will be switching carriers! There's nothing left to keep me at VZW anymore. They took my early upgrade, my New Every Two discount, and with my next upgrade they're coming for my unlimited plan! If I'm going to pay AT&T prices, get AT&T feature and plans, I may as well have the phone I want too, right! My only worry is how bad the service will suck outside my area. Many AT&T users say its not that bad, but MORE AT&T users say it sucks. TMobile won't be much better, but if VZW gets their heads out of their big red a$$es maybe I won't have to find out.
52. remixfa (Posts: 14255; Member since: 19 Dec 2008)
Thats part of life at VZW. You will constantly be last in line for phones or watch other carriers get big devices while you dont. Its always been that way. Thats one of the trade offs of VZW. Your gonna get coverage, but your not always gonna get the device you want. Sometimes you just have to decide which one u want more.
If you really want the device, there are always alternative options out there. Dont be scared to leave VZW (or any carrier), because someone else gets service where you work n play.
64. Whateverman (Posts: 3237; Member since: 17 May 2009)
As a Motorola fan, I don't miss out on too much. Manufacturers do favor the gsm carrier since its the biggest global market, but with VZW helping pull Motorola's proverbial fat from the fire, they seem to give VZW their best devices. (Although it would have been nice to have the Atrix as well). But overall, I typically get the device I want.
However, passing on the SGSII was my first taste at disappointment with VZW, especially when that "something better" turned out to be the Galaxy (almost a) Nexus. Great device, great OS, but the camera, sluggish screen transitions w/live wallpaper, and no Exynos was really hard to justify! And the Note was the second blow to my "I have the best phone EVER" ego. My Razr quickly made up for it, but I think I'm ready for a different Android experience. I love going EVERYWHERE and getting a strong signal when other people don't have service, but buying a cell phone and coverage is like buying a car. Sometime you go for what is reliable, and sometimes you get what excites you. But no matter what you pick, if your gonna pay out all that money for it... You better damn well get what you want because you may be stuck with it for a while!
66. 1ceTr0n (Posts: 545; Member since: 20 May 2012)
I left the red V after being a customer of them for years just because I wanted a Galaxy Note that bad and they wern't getting it. So I said goodebye to them in April, paid the stupid termination fee and never looked back.
THe Note rocks and my AT&T experience has been pretty good so far too and now im on 4G instead of being stuck on 3G with Verizon
38. BREvenson (Posts: 238; Member since: 17 May 2012)
Good point, Verizon did get snubbed when it came to the S II and the Note...my criticism was directed at Samsung in general rather than focused on one carrier.
53. remixfa (Posts: 14255; Member since: 19 Dec 2008)
they didnt get snubbed, they chose not to carry it. big difference.
28. Dr.Phil (Posts: 1014; Member since: 14 Feb 2011)
I disagree with your thinking.
First of all, the Note and the GSIII are different devices. There are GSIII owners that may not want the Note because of it's size or because they don't feel they need an S-Pen or tablet-like functionality. Then there are Note owners that don't just want a smartphone, but want some more functionality so they wouldn't look at the GSIII. Then there are the consumers that kind of go in between both devices and choose both or choose the one they feel they like the best.
Secondly, it will have been a year since the first Note was released, so it's not really that weird to release the second version of the phone a year later. Look at Apple, there are rumors of them releasing the iPhone 5 this summer/fall when they just released the iPhone 4S this past fall.
Finally, there are rumors that other manufacturers are releasing phablet devices in Q4 of this year. So, it would be imperative that Samsung make sure they have an updated Note that can compete with those new phablet devices that will most likely be sporting quad-core processors along with other new technological features.
39. BREvenson (Posts: 238; Member since: 17 May 2012)
Your argument is logical, I have nothing against it.
I know that my opinion clashes with the big picture, which is Samsung offering several phones for those who like to choose what will work best for them. It gets a little frustrating for me to see one company come out with multiple phones for multiple carriers within the span of one year. People can only choose one phone, and that's it. If they buy the S III but later they feel they wanted the Note II, tough luck.
Well, different strokes, you know? It's ultimately up to the consumer to decide what they want.
43. Dr.Phil (Posts: 1014; Member since: 14 Feb 2011)
Well I do see your side of things. I don't really agree with Samsung coming out with like the Galaxy Ace Duos while also having a Galaxy Ace 2, or having a Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 while also coming out with a Galaxy Note 10.1. I do see that some of their offerings are sort-of redundant, but I also see the business side of things where you want to offer a variety of products. Like you said, it's ultimately up to the consumer to decide what they want.
46. _PHug_ (Posts: 421; Member since: 11 Oct 2011)
There's this new web site called Ebay. I hear you can sell stuff there when you don't want it anymore. You should check it out.
58. McLTE (Posts: 747; Member since: 18 Oct 2011)
I find the way the Android phones come out both exciting and frustrating. yes, it does kind of suck to buy a phone and have a newer/better one come out a few months later.
But, this I think also allows for the innovation in the Android phones move more quickly and we're seeing new features and innovations at a much more rapid pace than we'd see otherwise.
I'd much rather it this way than to have to wait for my yearly iPhone upgrade, HOPING that they will put in the features I want in the ONE phone.
With Android I have a choice.. it requires a bit of patience and some research to find the phone worth waiting for.. but to me it's part of the fun and I wouldn't want it the Apple way.
Having said that, it would be nice if the manufacturers would give us a preview of their lineup in advance.. so I can choose now if I want to buy the SIII or wait for the Note2, or whatever. The reality is though that if I know what's coming later for Samsung, then I would know what's coming later for Moto or HTC.. and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that would be a marketing nightmare.
I would just like to see the manufactures be a little better about announcing their products, like Moto announcing the Razr, then shortly after announcing the Razr Maxx. They should have done both TOGETHER!
10. medicci37 (Posts: 1088; Member since: 19 Nov 2011)
Can't imagine buying the Iphone5, if something like this is available.
11. Walter.D.DROID (Posts: 25; Member since: 01 Apr 2012)
Well, i can dream of getting a Galaxy Note II but not with that screen, or they keep the 5.3inch ou higher than 5.5, as for other specs, IT HAVE TO BE BETTER THAN GS3 (will buy this one this month) otherwise, i might not getting one, I can agree with BREvenson with every aspect he said.
59. McLTE (Posts: 747; Member since: 18 Oct 2011)
how does it have to be better than the GSIII?
They are 2 completely different phones aimed at 2 different consumers in my opinion.
I do agree that if they go with 5.5" screen I HOPE it stays in the same form factor.. I don't want the physical size to be ANY bigger.
16. Croxy (Posts: 55; Member since: 06 Dec 2011)
Don't worry, it will most certainly have 2 gb of RAM, dduh some versions of SGS III have 2 gigabytes.
65. Walter.D.DROID (Posts: 25; Member since: 01 Apr 2012)
McLTE, even though that Galaxy Note came after GS II, if not only by the screen size, i think it would sell more, yeah 2 different devices, but not so completely, most have the same specs with the Gnote having the hd resolution and bigger screen but that's it in my opinion!
And I do agree with you that the form factor keeps the same but less bezel :-D but we can't get away of those capacitive buttons and the s**tty home button :@ most think that the Galaxy Note is a GSII with steroids? Now you can begin to think how a "Hulk" version of GS III might look like.

Other day I was visiting at local shop and saw a Galaxy Note. When I tryed to get a Note on my ear, pretending to call someone, my girlfriend started to laugh.
It is way too large to be a phone. There is no way I would ever carry it in my pocket.
26. WirelessCon (Posts: 309; Member since: 11 May 2010)
You alter life so your girlfriend doesn't laugh at you? Dude (or dudette), you've got some issues.
17. Harold1066 (Posts: 19; Member since: 01 Jun 2012)
This screen size is getting a bit ridiculous for a phone, but if nothing else, it will round out our choice of phones and/or tablets covering almost all possible screen sizes from 2.0 inches on up
19. 1ceTr0n (Posts: 545; Member since: 20 May 2012)
Well, might as well enjoy my note 1 while I have it cause ill move onto note 2 quicker then bill Clinton drops his pants
20. jove39 (Posts: 1498; Member since: 18 Oct 2011)
Hmmm...rumour mill didn't wasted any time in moving on to next Galaxy device :)
Few upgrades that anyone will guess about Note2 -
Exynos 5x (2xA15 + 4xT604 + LTE)
Higher pixel density
and same physical dimensions as Note1
27. steelew (Posts: 138; Member since: 04 Jun 2012)
Please update my AT&T i717 Galaxy note BEFORE you come out with the Galaxy note 2!
30. InspectorGadget80 (Posts: 7035; Member since: 26 Mar 2011)
Damn it Samsung why do this now? I always wanted the NOTE but was waiting for the NOTE II but won't be out till OCT. Jeezes now i have to decide on the SG III, SONY iON or NOTE II desisions desisions
35. mas11 (Posts: 1034; Member since: 30 Mar 2012)
SG III! Btw when is your upgrade because I wouldn't wait until October if you can upgrade now.
32. snowgator (Posts: 3385; Member since: 19 Jan 2011)
Okay - we all like to brag when we are right, so it is only fitting to own up when you are wrong. I thought the Note would do okay, but I really thought it would sell well at first, trail off, and be an afterthought in mobile. What a great device and I couldn't have been more wrong. Yeah, it is a little impracticality as a phone, but if you use a device for a ton of phone calls you are probably looking at another device anyways. Just having the phone function makes this an all around great option. It offers such an unique experience, even over Tablets. Samsung knocked this out of the park.
I am sure the GS3 will be king, but the Note 2 will be their 2nd best seller.
36. remixfa (Posts: 14255; Member since: 19 Dec 2008)
yup, i expect that to be a right assumption. I barely make calls and i love fiddling with my phone and gadgets, so its right up my alley. I just dont know if i can keep a phone that darn big in my pocket.
I also dont know if i have the willpower to wait till october.. lol.
61. McLTE (Posts: 747; Member since: 18 Oct 2011)
very well said!
When the Note came out I prayed that it would do well.. PLEASE!! I was more than thrilled and a bit surprised to see it do SO well.
I love the fact that the industry is paying attention and Sammy isn't the only one that will have a phablet out there.
For ME.. I don't CALL on my phone all that much. I'm constantly on it to text/chat/surf.. so the Note is PERFECT for me.
I'll happily look stupid for the couple mins I'm using the phone for calls and smile happily the other 95% of the time I'm using it as a tablet.
