have a note 2 going to wait on a note 4 personally the note 3 just isnt enough to drop the old reliable. Also iphonearena get over the plastic thing. its getting old and shows very bad reporting most consumers dont give a care. Now that an iphone with plastic is coming you will say its the best thing because of the plastic.. idiots.

Maybe device is not bad but, Samsung's choice of materials is horrible, there was a hyper glazed plastic, fake metal frame and now fake leather...

people don't care what the phone is made off, they care about the looks and feel... and obviously people don't mind the looks and feel of the note 3, and the fake leather definitely looks and feel better than hyper glazed.

"people don't care what the phone is made off, they care about the looks and feel..."

I think that you contradict yourself because look and feel also depends on what materials were used.

I really don't care what the phone is made of. I'm used to polycarbonate based devices. I've been using cellphones for over 27 years without any material issues with such build. Polycarbonate doesn't change the functionality of the device, which in all reality, is the most important aspect.

I really think geeks are getting too infatuated with materials on a device that will only be upgrade to another device after two years or even sooner anyway. I would rather have the most functionality from a device such as the Note3 knowing how technology quickly leapfrogs.

I don't have anything against Polycarbonate too, but HyperGlaze just gives the feeling of low quality and cheapness. In my opinion they could use Polycarbonate without HyperGlazing it and it would be much better looking and feeling.

"I really don't care what the phone is made of."

Maybe at the moment you don't realize that but you care for sure. ;)

No really. I seriously don't care what the phone is made of. I can make calls and surf the internet and conduct everyday business on the device for roughly two years, then upgrade to the next most functional featured device offered. It really is that simple.

Don't say that you don't care about phone durability at all or materials exposure on human health.

Maybe you missed my first rebuttal to your post. In all the years I've used cellphones, I have never had an issue with build quality of plastic based phones. Durability falls into this category. I still have my orginal Brick phone with only a few scratches. If technology were still analog, it would work perfectly.

Materials exposure to humans such as polcarbonate phones, is a bit of a reach in your argument. In solid form, it is not a carcinogen which you probably are eluding to. If plastic was such a health issue, it would be banned from all of earth. In fact, it has many benefits. I have contended from day one that plastic absorbs impact far better than more solid materials. I think this is important when dealing with products that are prone to more drops or impacts. Helmuts, bumpers, and phones etc, are these products.

It is perfectly acceptable for you to want different materials on your phones, but to make a conjectured remark as to what I like or want, is very much misaligned. I have much more important things to do or worry about than what material is being used an a phone. I am here on these sites to learn of the wireless industry, Not promote bragging rights of what person(s) have aluminum phones. In 52 years, I've never met a plastic phone I didn't like. They simply got the job done.

In my opinion average users even more pay attention to the materials and visual look of the device and less pay attention to the technical specifications.

Those that pay more attention to the physical looks over technical specifications, are the ones I view as complaining why they feel their products have become out dated too quickly. We are essentially dealing with modern day computational aspects. Just like computers, a person "should" be purchasing the most function they can afford due to how quickly advances and upgrades happen. My Evo was more than three years old and still looked and functioned well. It was plastic just like all my other phones and now my Galaxy S4. If any of my friends and colleagues felt bad about my plastic phone, you certainly wouldn't know it from how they followed suit in purchasing either an S3 or S4.

You really have no idea what your talking about, example is gorilla glass 3 or sapphire glass people won't tell the difference and if they ask, both are marketed as scratch resistance so again nothing changed.

Now look at all the different plastics out there, pretty much made from polycarbonate but they are either glossy plastic, matte plastic, or in note 3 case fake leather feel.

You can pretty much turn one specific material into anything, to suit people's needs.

Ask yourself how many go to the shops and ask if moto uses kevlar? Or what type of plastic the S4 uses or Nokia uses when both are made of the same material but feels and looks different?

Better than real leather, because then you will be first at the vegans protests against Samsung. Right?

By the way many honest reviewers say that look an feel of the "leather" is amazing and classy. Samsung's own .
Also there are non-"leather" covers.
