Samsung Galaxy Note 3 preview: ask us all you want to know about it!

0. phoneArena 18 Sep 2013, 10:35 posted on

Currently, there are few smartphones hotter than the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, and we bet that many of you are eager to try it out personally. This, however, won't be happening until Samsung's new phablet is launched - the Galaxy Note 3 release date is set for September 25 internationally, while the US carriers will get it at a later date. Now, a week or so isn't that long of a period, so the wait is definitely bearable. But in case you're of the impatient type, 7 days may seem like forever, and that sucks, doesn't it? That's why we thought we'd spare you the anxiety and the sleepless nights...

My Note 2 is rooted.. and when I change ROMs, I usually stick with Touchwiz because I like what it offers.

I've tried to use the stock launcher over and over but keep HATING all that wasted space - back to Nova launcher EVERY time.

My current screen setup is 5 icons wide by 8 tall.. feels tight and like there is no wasted space.

All the new motion gestures from the S4 are in the Note 3. Samsung announced it the day the Note 3 was unveiled.

i want to know the real world performance. How much multitasking it can do without hiccuping.
Also battery life with multitasking. I mean when doing typing, video , browsing etc all at a same time. not just some script.

It looks like Touchwiz is very heavy now given the new apps and features. Even though the device has 3gb of RAM does it still respond quickly? My Note 2 was very responsive (but that was of course with a lighter version of Touchwiz and still had 2gb of RAM).

NEED MORE SPEED OF TOUCHWIZ INFO!

Is display and camera better than S4

Display is sharper on the S4 due to the smaller screen. Both devices share the same camera, though the Note 3 has a few software tweaks/features.

"Sharper" doesn't necessarily mean "better." I'm curious about the sub-pixel arrangement (I've read one report that it's the same as the S4 but I haven't seen any hard proof even from that one report). Brightness, viewing angles, and color reproduction factor in as well.

True, but if they implemented a different sub-pixel arrangement, that would be great. Brightness is important, but viewing angles will be excellent as always. Color reproduction won't match IPS and LCD, unless you choose a different mode. Over saturated colors is my preference though.

Can you please confirm whether or not the Note 3 comes with the s800AB soc? If it does this will mean its GPU will be clocked at 550mhz, not at 450mhz like the LG G2. It will also have faster ram. Please cofirm which SOC.

Even tough Note 3 has better specs, I'm still choosing the Z1 because of the design, built materials, water-proofing and great overall specs. If Samsung at least would do it in aluminium, maybe then I would consider. No offense Samsung fans ;)

It's a compromise for the better specs. But understand the dilemma ;)

For me, the build of the Note 2 was perfectly fine. I love having a removable back plate - battery, SD card. I just don't see any special value in an aluminum or metal chassis. All it will do is take away from the features I value (removable batt and SD card).

I also think this design is every bit as good as the Z1. I don't are for the harsh square corners.

Waterproofing is awesome for sure, but no deal breaker for me.
