Need a new 4-inch smartphone? The Samsung Galaxy J1 Mini Prime is now available in the US
Believe it or not, Samsung's newest smartphone is a 4-inch device. We're talking about the Galaxy J1 Mini Prime (model number J106B), a handset that's now available to buy in the US via Amazon and eBay, despite the fact that Samsung hasn't properly announced it.

Amazon is offering the Galaxy J1 Mini Prime for $89.99, while a top-rated seller on eBay is asking $86.99 for it. In both cases, the phone comes unlocked, with dual SIM support and AT&T 3G compatibility. The handset can also be used on T-Mobile, but only on 2G (don't worry, the magenta carrier isn't phasing out its 2G network before 2020).

The Samsung Galaxy J1 Mini Prime looks a lot like the 4.5-inch Galaxy J1 (2016) that was released earlier this year, but it's obviously smaller. Its 4-inch TFT screen has a 480 x 800 pixel resolution (for a 233ppi density), being one of the tiniest displays we've seen lately.

Running Android 6.0 Marshmallow, the Galaxy J1 Mini Prime is powered by a quad-core Spreadtrum SC9830 processor clocked at 1.2 GHz, and offers just 8 GB of internal memory (thankfully, the phone supports microSD cards). Other features include a VGA front-facing camera, a 5 MP rear camera with LED flash, 1 GB of RAM, and a 1500 mAh battery.

Clearly, the Galaxy J1 Mini Prime won't impress anyone, but maybe it could do a good job as a compact back-up phone. What do you say?
