Samsung Galaxy F rumored to launch in September as it takes on the Apple iPhone 6
0. phoneArena 02 Jul 2014, 17:35 posted on
We already have leaked images of the Samsung Galaxy F. This is the "premium" version of the Samsung Galaxy S5 that is expected to feature a 1440 x 2560 QHD screen, a metal body, the Snapdragon 805, and 3GB of RAM. In other words, this is the phone that many thought that the Galaxy S5 was going to be in the first place...

And they say that Sony 6 months cycle is not good and here we are flood the market with different variation of flagship phones not to mentioned htc and lg too.

Except they won't. iPhone 6 will smash every other phone in sales...

Its healthy competition. Besides those two are a different kettle of fishes.
iOS user won't go for a F neither do a season Android lover going after iOS devices again.
Samsung should just keep to their own production schedule.

This is why so many people simply buy an iPhone instead of a Samsung device. There are just too many confusing choices, which is not what the average consumer wants...
8. gigaraga (Posts: 501; Member since: 29 Mar 2013)
Are you sure about that? An average consumer would want as many choices as they want, so they are able to choose the one they like. And how is it confusing? All you have to do is compare a few models and see which one u favor. Better than no choices at least.
11. HansGoneInsane (Posts: 356; Member since: 09 Aug 2013)
The average consumer is seeking for satisficing choices because he sees a tradeoff between investing time to find an optimal choice and the utility provided by an already discovered satisfying choice. That is the theory of the satisficing man (a basic enconomic decision theory from Herbert Simon). That is why the iPhone is so popular I think. It is appealing and promises a simple, uncomplicated usage. If money is not the first priority for a consumer, the iPhone offers the best tradeoff between investing time to find a device and offered utility (I include the design as part of the utility).
21. fzacek (Posts: 1247; Member since: 26 Jan 2014)
That's how people's minds work when they know a lot about technology (like you or me). But the average consumer/people who have no clue about technology or what all the specs mean just want a simple choice that works well and serves its purpose. That's why the iPhone is popular...

Eletronic Tech (because using a Rock to KILL your enemy and/or dinner IS Technology, if anyone has forgotten) is ALL AROUND us, i think EVERYONE (at least in USA) has a clue to its existance, and Therefore if one Rejects it, that person is IGNORANT defined. and more than likely, Stupid to boot. people as consumers ARE STUPID!!
that "oh the iphone is just simple!!!" is SUCH A COP-OUT for not knowing how to interface with a damn mobile Computer, which we call our phones. its REALLY not that hard......
26. fanboy1974 (Posts: 1109; Member since: 12 Nov 2011)
Samsung is doing it right by going into full battle mode. The number one criticism of the iPhone is size. I see Apple gaining back a few percentage points so why should Samsung sit back and do nothing? Apple use to be at the top but they just released S models while Android continued to grow both in screen size and market share.
It's war baby!!!

BEEECAAAUUUSE..... the AVERAGE consume is STEEWWPPIIDD!!!!
hmmmm so must most iphone users be stewpid too??? hmmm well??? go talk to one an report back to me...... :-D
we all KNOW its suposed to be a computer thats ment for people to use that ordinarily wouldnt know how to use a computer.---STEVE JOBS said that himself, so yall Fruit Lovers can bite me
57. fzacek (Posts: 1247; Member since: 26 Jan 2014)
You gave me an idea. There should be an experiment that measures the intelligence of both iOS and Android users. I'm pretty sure Android users would score higher...
59. iushnt (Posts: 601; Member since: 06 Feb 2013)
That's why Samsung is the largest smartphone manufacturer?? They must be doing something right..
61. Iodine (Posts: 160; Member since: 19 Jun 2014)
Yeah shameless coping and and brain corrosive marketing.
63. HansGoneInsane (Posts: 356; Member since: 09 Aug 2013)
Large but also with declining revenue, while Apple's revenue grows.
67. alaw.14 (Posts: 120; Member since: 10 Sep 2013)
Where did you get that information from??? Samsung receives more revenue than any tech company.
3. twens (Posts: 519; Member since: 25 Feb 2012)
Very funny cos the average consumer doesn't even know this phone is coming out. Only tech nerds like us follow all the latest news and phones. So many people are happy with their s5 that I can assure you. We are a minority of the smartphone buyers market.
6. HansGoneInsane (Posts: 356; Member since: 09 Aug 2013)
True that. But if this is the real design of the S5 F, the average consumer will find the iPhone 6 more appealing I guess. The Galaxy F is not going to be a beauty, if the images show the real device.
43. reckless562 (Posts: 621; Member since: 09 Sep 2013)
no they dont, and yes we are.
4. HansGoneInsane (Posts: 356; Member since: 09 Aug 2013)
If the leaked images of the device are the real deal, then there is nothing Apple has to worry about. While Apple will come up with a new design, Samsung is just using the same not very convincing design with cheap looking metal exterieur. Why is it cheap looking? Because it is not uni-body (at least it looks like this in the pictures).
9. alaw.14 (Posts: 120; Member since: 10 Sep 2013)
So the iphone 6 looks very convincing. They are trying to copy htc, but they cant. Apple also uses the same design.
12. Napalm_3nema (Posts: 822; Member since: 14 Jun 2013)
The iPhone 6 dummies that are floating about are not the final design. That may be the general shape and look, but those top and bottom lines would never fly at Apple.
13. HansGoneInsane (Posts: 356; Member since: 09 Aug 2013)
Yup. Apple works for years on a design. It is very likely that the leaked dummies show some design experiments during the design process.
62. Iodine (Posts: 160; Member since: 19 Jun 2014)
Apple and HTC disclosed an 10 year licensing agreement, they can license things from each other. So that's why they can use diamond cut edges, dual tone flash even the very similar antenna system and Apple can use their's design. It's called partnership something samsung can't even understand.
44. reckless562 (Posts: 621; Member since: 09 Sep 2013)
i Rather KEEP my removable BATTERY thank you very much!!!
5. blackberry_Boy (Posts: 103; Member since: 27 May 2014)
Wow really samsung needs to stop already the note 4 going to be a beast of a phone why they need another GS5 model oh yea to keep up with apple two models there putting out lol smh this battle will be very interesting
7. HansGoneInsane (Posts: 356; Member since: 09 Aug 2013)
Because the competition in the Android market has become so strong that Samsung feels the necessity to further attack Apple since Apple attracts the most profitable customers. Apple's market segment is where the big money is earned.
14. blackberry_Boy (Posts: 103; Member since: 27 May 2014)
True samsung will always have something up their sleeves
10. shamatuu (Posts: 106; Member since: 02 Nov 2011)
Make sense from a business side but as a consumer 50/50
15. InspectorGadget80 (Posts: 6141; Member since: 26 Mar 2011)
So Samsung was holding out on everyone.
16. UglyFrank (Posts: 333; Member since: 23 Jan 2014)
Samsung should move to LTE based Exynos chips if they really want to stick out, they used to have superior performance but now all chips are the same, Exynos infinity instead of S805 on Variants would be great
17. Salazzi (Posts: 131; Member since: 17 Feb 2014)
I'm about done with Samsung. I got the S5 and was left SORELY dissapointed. It's not just about specs, but about the user experience and integration with how and what we do. I've long had a grudge against Samsung for a purchase previously made where I was left in the dust with no software upgrades (and the software was already outdated right off the shelf), and the software was beyond glitchy. I had to resort to rooting and going through hoops to install the latest version of Android, which you average consumer never wants to go through. Fast forward to now, when I decided in a cool-headed manner to give the S5 a shot, after all, it was quite appealing in store and online images and video. It's too blah.. I can't even come up with a word for it. Swiping your finger to get your fingerprint scanned is a hassle compared to apples quick place finger and hold method. The heartrate sensor is decent but unless you have big hands, it yet again is an extra hassle. Imagine going for a jog and fumbling to get your finger placed on the sensor before and after the workout.. it simply doesn't do, and after a few attempts, the average consumer will simply toss the feature right out. Unlike LG G2 IR blaster, the GS5 was beyond complicated to figure out. To this day I still don't know how to set up my surround sound system to them or even control my non-Samsung TV with it, and thus again, the feature was left unused. I can go on and on but I'm sure the point has been made clear. Combine these software and hardware issues along with the GS5 seemingly poor quality build, and a customer can often be left wondering if the device in their hand is worth the $650-700 they paid for it.
32. fanboy1974 (Posts: 1109; Member since: 12 Nov 2011)
I also had a bad experience but it was with the iPhone 5s. So I can understand what you're talking about. After 4 weeks I swapped it with a Note 3 and I still consider it the best phone (even above the S5).
And I never used the stock remote app. Smart remote from the play store is awesome.
45. reckless562 (Posts: 621; Member since: 09 Sep 2013)
theres ur answer, by fanboy1947, is in the apps my friend.
.....but GOD FORBID if Samsung dosent make their phone CUSTOM to YOUR hand size..... Really?!?!?! n just kuz YOU see it as a Hassele about placing finger vs swiping doesnt mean others ar that shallow. like did i email samsung n Request it SPECIFICALY n get denied? are u that codlled???? "OMG i have to swipe my finger nstead of placing it there!!! whoever will help me!?!?!?"
60. Salazzi (Posts: 131; Member since: 17 Feb 2014)
I appreciate you pointing out the apps, I just didn't bother with something that should have worked out of the box. It's like selling a computer without the drivers for your hardware. How many computers would be sold then? MUCH fewer, as people wouldn't want to go through loops to get the hardware functioning as it was supposed to be. Or should we then apply your method of "well you can always download the drivers online!!"? That's a very unproductive method to do things. That's exactly why I mentioned the LG G2 including the software right off the bat, allowing a customer to browse through their phone, find all the neat tricks and functions, and take a liking to the device. Am I complaining about the size? Far from it, especially how I brought up the LG G2 which is essentially the same size, and said in comparison to the S5 I liked it a lot more. So we have now rooted out the size of the device as the problem, and found yet again that the problem lies in poorly thought out hardware as well as software aspects. If you stopped being a fanboy for once and took an open minded look at the issues at hand, you'd see what I'm talking about. It's not just me whose talking about the fingerprint scanner being essentially useless but even many reviewers, some of whom would take swipe after swipe on the fingerprint scanner on the S5 in before logging in 20 seconds later.. essentially taking away any need to have it in the first place as it's much simpler to have a passcode.
By all means go ahead an enjoy your Samsung device as is your right to do so. But don't come here and talk a bunch of crap simply because you don't like me bashing Samsung and their idiotic policies. A productive comment? Sure.. such as pointing out a good app or a good solution. But condescending nonsense? Keep that to yourself.
65. Iodine (Posts: 160; Member since: 19 Jun 2014)
OK and now try to rewrite this, but instead of placing fingers on the screen, swipe them over the keys nicely from top to bottom, of course use stock keyboard. And now tell me how idiotic your statement above is.
19. darkkjedii (Posts: 10124; Member since: 05 Feb 2011)
That's kinda f'd up Samsung. Since you are the king of phablets, do two flagships per year, one smartphone, one phablet. Too many, will eventually make is hold out for what we think will be a better one. Hansgonewild is correct, apples simplistic, non confusing approach is very appealing.
22. HansGoneInsane (Posts: 356; Member since: 09 Aug 2013)
I might be insane my young padawan, but not wild. Being wild is not the jedi way :)

When you want to, you make some of the most intelligent posts on this site. I prefer fzacek the techie. I love Samsung, but I think they put out way too many flagships variants, pisses a lotta people off +1.
49. reckless562 (Posts: 621; Member since: 09 Sep 2013)
its called the "Bleeding edge" of Tech for a reason. as shizzle gets better, faster, leaner, THATS THE STUFF I WANT!!!!! not later, NOW!!!
Hell its bad enough isp's and Tv providers are limiting the network speeds for consumers. we all should have FREE WIFI Everefreaken Where by now, and 100MB MINIMUM download speeds from Carriers.
if the Tech exists, FUND it, TEST it, AND SELL it to me already!!!
if u dont agree then YOU my friend, DONT get a flying car when the come out.
47. reckless562 (Posts: 621; Member since: 09 Sep 2013)
BOOO you!!!! go choke on an apple core!!! i hate reading that "oohh its simple...on purpose tho!!!" at least admit that its a simple phone.....for Simple PEOPLE
29. mariodubbz (Posts: 2; Member since: 02 Jul 2014)
No no no kids! What phone is on top of every experts list and is getting the best reviews across the board? Not the s5 or even the iPhone. Its the HTC ONE M8. And what is the deciding factor? The metal unibody case!!! The s5 and been getting slamed for its boring plastic case with bandaid like faux leather texture. The HTC is laeving Samsung in the dust and that's who Samsung is trying to compete with for the most part. I honestly don't think anyone is worried about apple right now. But they can kill two birds with one sting on a September release date.
50. reckless562 (Posts: 621; Member since: 09 Sep 2013)
nope, nope, aaannnddd nope. sry, sammy is the bar right now. get a clue....please. i asked nicely
68. mariodubbz (Posts: 2; Member since: 02 Jul 2014)
get a clue ? look at all the rankings. The M8's design and construction is state of the art tight now. Far as I'm concerned sammy is scrambling to catch up that why they are releasing another model in haste.
33. Genza (Posts: 94; Member since: 12 Mar 2014)
I'm pretty sure this time Apple will beat Samsung, because the iphone fans will have more choice from iPhone 5s, iPhone 6 (4.7 ") to the iPhone 6 (5.5") + Apple smartwatch.
Apple also does not need to do aggressive marketing like samsung, because most famous people would prefer the iPhone compared to the Galaxy.
The difference between apple and samsung phones is almost the same as the European sports car with Japanese cars.
Japanese cars are better in terms of sales, but European cars have a better social status.
51. reckless562 (Posts: 621; Member since: 09 Sep 2013)
u are so lost, i dont thing u should comment anymore.
1st....Euro sports cars sell less kuz they COST MORE MONEY!!!!! God damn boy/girl, were u dropped on ur head??? even if they Cost the same, the ones we get here in America at least ate Sooooo much better in fit n finsh, build quality, and obviously performance.
"famous ppl" mite have an iphone, but their STAFF definitally has an android device, to keep ut with their rich as fu-K boss. they probably have an iphone too tho, but ONLY kuz their boss has one.
