Samsung Galaxy Alpha Regatta held in Moscow
An event was held in Moscow on Sunday, the Samsung Galaxy Alpha Regatta, that featured a few signs advertising Sammy's upcoming iPhone challenger. Keep in mind that the phone, while present, was not unveiled at the event. Still, with the posters and other signage that was put up for the regatta, it is acknowledgement from the manufacturer that the device is almost ready to be introduced.

The Samsung Galaxy Alpha is expected to come to the party wearing a 4.7 inch Super AMOLED display. The 4.7 inches happens to match the size of the screen rumored to be on the Apple iPhone 6. Resolution on the screen is 720 x 1280. An Exynos 5 Octa, or a quad-core Snapdragon 805, will be under the hood depending on where you pick up the handset. 2GB of RAM, and 32GB of native storage are included, with no microSD slot. Back and front-facing cameras are 12MP (with an ultra-fast auto-focus) and 2.1MP respectively. A removable 1850mAh battery powers the phone, which of course offers a metal casing. Android 4.4.4 is pre-installed, out of the box.

The Samsung Galaxy Alpha started life rumored to be a premium Samsung Galaxy S5 with all of the features left out of  the flagship model. Besides the metal, that included a 1440 x 2560 QHD screen. Instead, the phone has morphed into a direct challenger to the Apple iPhone 6. Samsung could be taking the wraps off this model as soon as next week.

Thanks for the tip!
