Samsung GT-I9300 Galaxy S III graphics benchmark appears, poised to rule them all

0. phoneArena 23 Apr 2012, 03:01 posted on

Since we know that some of you were worried about the graphics performance with "just" a 50% boost, instead of the sexier sounding "5x the performance" of Mali T-604 that is in the Exynos 5 series for tablets, we compared a screenshot that was tipped to us with the other heavy hitters...

You have to remember the power of the quad core is roughly equal to the 32nm dual core as remix said only advantage over quad core is battery life, but on paper the average consumer will see quad core and think its better so naturally they will go with it over something with a A15 dual core just because its a bigger number therefore making it "better".
and @remixfa yes 5x the GPU would be absolutely great.

thats about the size of it.

samsung did a great job of making the exynos 4210 battery efficient, so i have no doubts that this one wont be even better since its die shrank. Also between identical chips (4212 for example) in dual and quad form, the quad has the power advantage because the cores use less juice to run all 4 at low power than it does for 2 at high power. The A15 gets an advantage because of its advanced design

I agree, my e4gt gets around 10hrs of heavy usage even when overclocked to 1.8ghz.

A15 has a little better battery savings, much better GPU, and the overall single core performance is insanity.

I'll take the Exynos 5250 any day of the week.

id prefer a 5250 quad and just be done with it. but honestly, im dying for a new phone, so ill take a 4212 or a 5250.. i dont care. its still about 4x the power of my SGS1 at minimum.. and thats enough of an upgrade to make me throw down some cash.

Dual core A15 should be enough power at this stage, quad core seems like it would run into power drain issues.

thats a misnomer.

quadcore actually gets better usage between the dual/quad core set ups of the same chip.

4 cores running at 50% power uses less juice than 2 cores running at 100% power. The last 30% or so of available power per core is where most of the battery drain is.. so the less often they are stressed that much, the better the battery life.

the only reason the 5250 dual should get the same or better battery life than the 4212 quad is because of its advanced design. they are both 32nm chips.

We might get a surprise and see the 4212 outlast the 5250 in battery life.. especially under heavy load, for the very reason i just mentioned.
We will have to wait and see for that one though.

The problem is that you're assuming that everything can be equally loaded. Many tasks are only lightly threaded, and that means that single core performance will still matter.

The reality is that even if the 5250 has to go to 100% on two cores and the 4412 has to go to 100% on 4, the 5250 will finish faster and be able to enter deep sleep/idle mode.

Which is easier to work? Four slower-working people that equal two faster-working people? You have to find 4 separate tasks that everyone can simultaneously work on for four people, when it only takes two for the faster-working people.

Same as s2 just root the phone
And overclock the gpu at 400mhz.... I've rooted mine and it's running at 1,6 CPU 400 gpu....

all I want from the phone is to run my games silky smooth, I don't care about any benchmark. benchmarks are for trolls

I fail to see how it holds its own against the new ipad when the ipad beats two of the tests (which are the ones it beat the tegra 3 by a noticable amount) by 50%. So to sum up I can't understand how it beat the tegra 3 by a large margin but held its own against the new ipad :s Either way though it does look like a nice chip!

because the A5X chip in the ipad is very overclocked.. which is why it comes with a huge battery.
The 4212 exynos quad is not meant to be a tablet class chip. Just like the ipad's A5X is very unlikely to be seen in the next iphone.
Its a phone class chip.. and when it comes to phones.. 4212 kills.

The 5250 with its 5x stronger GPU is going into tablets, and will utterly devour the apple A5X chip.

Wow!! Nice innovation by Samsung. I got a nice review from the http://startuptunes.com/2012/04/24/samsung-galaxy- s-iii-rumor-pre-look-specifications-leak/ . I think It will bring people happy with smooth operation.

hey
I have heard a lot about the design of this phone. People did not like the looks at all saying that it looks lik a soapbar !!! Its not bad at all !! And most of us will put a cover on it so who will see the looks !! :-p the specs are sooo awsome, i'l go for the white one, as i have used many black coloured fones in the past and i think its time to go for a different colour . The white looks the best ! see it here: http://www.jawal123.com/-1982401994/en-us/%D8%B3%D8%A7%D9%85%D8%B3%D9%88%D9%86%D8%BA-i9300-galaxy-s-iii
