Beginning on Thursday, Samsung Fascinate users will finally get the Android 2.2 update that they have been patiently waiting for; the OTA upgrade will hit the handsets starting tomorrow and will allow the device to play Flash videos and animation, store certain apps on a microSD card and much more...

Well, nice to see that perhaps the weakest of the Galaxy S phones is catching up with the rest of the world.

Ironically the video quality is a lot sharper on the Fascinate than it was on the Epic (which both being the Galaxy S line doesn't make sense to me). Wouldn't call it the weakest although the lack of Froyo did put it behind phones like the Droid X. Actually that & the Captivate were the most elegant looking Samsung smartphones to date in my opinion...

Wont change the fact that this phone is still junk.

Wow! Good one dude! You burned him! Because everybody has a perfect Android phone. Every phone has the latest software version, and every app works perfectly without those ficticious Force Close Errors. Your probably also gods gift to women and sleep next to naked models every night too! Your super!

Sadly we arent in fairy tail land anymore. These phones are junk, with unstable software plagued with shitty coding, cheap hardware at jacked up prices, fragmented to hell, nonexistent email security, and nearly nonexistent OEM support. On another note, your probably just another fat slob with 4 chins crying in the corner with your dick in your hand because someone made fun of your toys.

your right derp....i am gods gift to women and if u only knew half of what you're sayin you'd have a great chance at be the smartest critic on the planet. But seriously dude the arguement you're making here is makin you look like the biggest chump on the planet. I'll put my fascinate up against your phone any day. oh and on another note, you're probably some little needle dick four eyed little bastard who wouldn't know what to do with his dick, if by chance you could ever get a woman to even wanna sleep with you. and if by chance you've slept with anyone, (male or female...your choice) i just wanna say congratulations.....i'm sure it was the best 30 second ride of your life

Yes I hope a is smooth. This was just way too long of a wait. My friend is like I heard this before, I'll believe it when my phone says 2.2 Froyo. Poor guy he literally aged like 5 years because of the Fascinate! I told him that this Friday the first round of cold ones are on me! Well only if he gets Froyo that is! :-) lol

As with all the other Galaxy S devices, it is getting the 2.2 update just as others are about to update to Gingerbread.

5. BobbyTaba posted on 20 Apr 2011, 15:04 1 1

They all probably get gingerbread at the same time and at least its OTA instead of kies

You people are stupid out there downing this phone..other than npt having froyo this is vw second best smartphone behind the tb..the only reason its receiving froyo is because of the droid charge release with froyo...dont wanna hurt sales with current samsung owners

A little to late Samsung i'm riding the clouds on the Thunderbolt. Soon will have Gingerbread 2.3 by June. The fascinate was a great phone but being behind all the other phones software wise held it back. I will never buy another Samsung phone ever I don't care if its the first quadcore phone. I will wait for HTC or maybe Motorola.

the only reason to get this phone is because after the 2.2 upgrade 2.3 will follow shorty.

It will be interesting to see how the Fascinate handles Froyo...I can't wait (even though I use mine for a Wifi only device now).

Samsung is better than a Motorola. Honestly, besides physical aesthetics, all Android OS phones are he same. I see absolutely no difference between 2.1 and 2.2. So what, you can run flash player. So what? Use YouTube or what not.

I'd check my phone now. Apparently Big Red flipped the switch early. Froyo's been on my Fascinate for about 25 minutes now, and it's super-schweet. Not schweet enough to keep me from taking them up on their $150 Thunderbolt upgrade deal, but nice to play with in the meantime until I decide to switch phones.

Unfortunately, the media sync thing is still borked, but I'm beginning to think they did that deliberately because they don't want you going to places like Rhapsody and Napster to fill yourself up at their music buffet for a flat fee when they can wring every last dime out of you through VCast.

15. username (unregistered) posted on 21 Apr 2011, 11:59

Really? Why is this update so important? Do you really use flash player that much? Do you have nothing better to do than sit on your phone and whine about what you can't do?
I have the fascinate and it works fine and dandy. The only videos I think I can't watch are the ones on facebook and thats what the computer is for.

24. vantenkiest posted on 24 Apr 2011, 20:43

not thr flash that makes this SUPER important .. but the few who use the phone for large apps. like my finacee who uses her phone for lab work. tracking vids and what not. moving apps to SD is very important for her.

Any news for the 10 or so of us on the Continuum?

Lol..."10 or so of us on the Continuum"

Samsung and Motorola need to stay out of the Smart phone game. 2.2 killed the Epic, nothing but complaints from customers wanting 2.1 back. HTC is the only and original Android! I am going to get tons of thumbs down for this comment.

22. CRICKETownz posted on 21 Apr 2011, 21:02

The tons of thumbs downs may come from your completely ridiculous comment. If it was only opinionated I could understand but I don't think the Droid Eris outsold the original Motorola Droid one bit. It almost was viewed as a lesser android device. Wasn't until the EVO that HTC became a strong Android force.
