i dont understand y phones are still being released or dev'ed for alltel when vzw is going to aquire them soon......

15. (unregistered) posted on 26 Oct 2008, 10:01

WOW VZW ARE ACQUIRING MARKETS OF ALLTEL NOT ENTIRE COMPANY!!!!!!!

34. (unregistered) posted on 28 Oct 2008, 10:57

Verizon is acquiring all of Alltel as a company, but for that to pass through the FCC they have to divest some of their markets so they dont have monopolies in those areas. So the part of Alltel that gets divested will not still continue to run as alltel but will be purchased by a completely different company.

The article should say Samsung Delve for Altell/Verizon.

In response to #19, how many apps could u apply to ur corny LG dare? Also, i dont see 10 million dare's sold. Im just assuming u have verizon and worship the dare like every other fanboy. Thats their only remotely good phone anyway.

Who cares how many apps one can run on their phone when the phone in question is a shitty phone that one would be better off just getting an Ipod Touch.... Sorry for not being the first person on the fagfest which is the iPhone but that phone is the biggest piece of shit on the market for what it is. Even this website pretty much concluded the Instinct was an all around better Device then it is. So what does the iPhone have? Stupid customers whom fanboy for that junky phone because for some reason they feel like jumping on the forums and acting like tards so to justify themselves for buying that junk a** phone.... It also has a very nice touch screen and can do everything the ipod touch can do.. So how badly will the Storm kill the iPhone? Time will tell but whoever talked low of the Omnia... only the unlock phone got a bad rating.. The Locked GSM variant got high reviews retard..

i'm with alltel, and i could care less about this phone. I've got a glimmer, and more than likely, this phone will have the same poor response touch screen as the Glimmer. So until we get a real touchscreen phone like the TouchHD, which looks even less likely to happen on CDMA, i simply don't care for them. And a AT&T tower just got put up in my backyard so the hole in my part of the state is filled. So I'm looking pretty foward to the end of my contract. This is just a honest question, how many of you send picture messages on a pretty regular basis? I don't, so the iPhone no multimedia message thing doesn't really bother me. I was just wondering if anyone really sends multimedia messages enough to get upset about it. I got the whole messaging package with alltel but hardly use the multimedia part of it. Just curious.

If you want a good touch screen phone on the alltel network you should go w/the HTC Touch. It is completely Windows based and easy to use. It has a decent camera and full web-browsing capabilites (unlike the glimmer). I work at Alltel and sell at least 5 of them a week. Customers always come back pleased. It also has a really cool feature that allows you to just write your texts and emails on the screen and converts them to text for you to save time. I am actually an ATT customer currently and couldn't be more displeased. We are paying a lot more for a plan w/less features than we would w/Alltel. I am also going to throw my phone if I try to make one more call it tells me "network failed." Also the Verizon merger is still pending w/the FCC b/c of the possibility of a monopoly. We should have a definitive answer by the first of the year.

I send pics all the time. For a phone touted as a multimedia powerhouse to not have MMS is a JOKE... I have a $20 Moto W385 that can send pics.

Im gald that ive found someone on here that understands a little about cell phone carriers. Now what pisses me off is hearing everyone talk about the price of phones this and that. Well people do go to alltel because they have cheap pricing. Alltel has to compete in the top five of the carriers and still have competitive pricing. With verizons customer base at 70.1 million customers they are getting phones alot cheaper than what alltel with only around 10 million customers. Its like trying to compare walmart pricing and walgreens there is no comparison in pricing. Malmart has pull in the market same with verizon. So alltel cant even compete with pricing. But what they can compete in is their plans. And they completely tear it up in that.

Okayyy, who said to go with US Cellular? Someone who doesn't have good credit? Seriously, if you understand anything about cell phone contracts, you'll quickly realize that paying a higher subsidized price for a phone will almost certainly guarantee that you're going to pay less for your plan in the long run. As for US Cellular, they're good if you don't want to leave your home area, don't mind roaming and dropped calls and/or had bad enough credit to not be qualified for a real cell phone. If you like Verizon, you're on point because their service is excellent and if you follow the news you'll see that they're acquiring Alltel. Right now, for shared plans and most individual plans, Alltel has the best price points available. (this is out of the top 5 carriers, which does NOT include the laughable US Cellular)... When Alltel is acquired by Verizon, which is said to be happening around January 1 '09, they will have by far, the best coverage in the US. The Alltel pricepoint, with the Verizon network will not be anything that can be rivaled by ATT, Sprint-Joketell, or T-Mobile (which is also great if you have bad credit). Do the math and figure out how much more you'll spend with ATT or Sprint or Verizon - Versus an Alltel plan, and you'll understand quickly why the up front price of the phone is more. Most people will end up making back the difference in the phone price in under 8 months and beyond that point, will be saving money. If what you really want it a digital camera that drops calls and lets you play all the PSP games in the world, then yeah, go to US Cellular. If you want good value for your money and a decent phone with good national coverage, then switch to ALLTEL...

US cell was ranked #1 in midwest by JD power, doesnt seem like much of a joke to me. Unless you travel constantly through rural parts of the country Verizon doesnt seem that necessary when there are much better deals with equal service in different areas... Stop being a fanboy...

I have U.S. Cellular and it is 100X better then VZW or AT&T in the area I live (Northeast Oklahoma). I have traveled all over America, and I very seldom go through an area where I don't have service. As for the roaming, it is only $10 more a month for a nationwide plan that covers all of america and canada and mexico. I had AT&t and I never had a signal. My dad has a work phone through VZW and he never has a very strong signal here either. When I try to call him it always drops the call. Besides, when I go outside of my calling area, U.S. Cellular starts to run off of VZW towers anyway, so we always have a strong signal.

31. whatever (unregistered) posted on 28 Oct 2008, 08:03
