I primarily use the "textPlus" app for free texting since all of my devices synce with the same account so that when i get a text message on one device, it shows up on all of the other devices. Its worked great with my droid2 global, samsung galaxy tab, samsung galaxy s, and iPod 4gen all at the same time. Would highly recommend it over any of the other free texting apps.

Have also tried "Pinger textfree" but it only works on one device at a time. No use for that when you have as many devices as i do although it does work really well on 1device. Oh,and one other thing i forgot to mention is that you have to have a data plan or be in wifi for "pinger textfree" or "textPlus" to work, but on the bright side, you dont have to pay for texting.

Tried this Samsung app as well, but didnt care for it.
