Come on SS, Intel is shivering

2. Droid_X_Doug posted on 21 Dec 2012, 04:07 19 1

Hahaha! Apple thinks they can compete with Sammy on chips? Think again! Time for Apple to run to Intel. Otherwise, Sammy will be eating Apple's Lunch. And Dinner.

Apple will always come on top in terms of quality, capabilities, and sales. Whoops guess that was everything... oh well

11. Droid_X_Doug posted on 21 Dec 2012, 04:37 5

Please post back in two years or so when Apple has selected Intel as its mobile chip supplier.

BTW, I didn't know that Apple is leading the sales of smartphones vs. Android smartphones. Could you post a link backing up your claim?

22. abdane posted on 21 Dec 2012, 05:27 8

quality ? yea, all those scratches on iPhone 5 even after just 2 weeks of usage, capabilities ? android is more capable of things than iOS and you know it ? sales ? not anymore, iPhone 5 sold 5 million in one week, GS3 sold 9 million , which number is bigger ? ;)

42. Droid_X_Doug posted on 21 Dec 2012, 13:05

2 weeks? There was an article (maybe even made it to PA) about an iP5 fresh from the UPS truck with scratches on the case.

I think the battle now is not btn Android and iOS, it's Android vs Windows (not WP). Google does not hide their intentions to attack MS core businesses: Windows and Office.

So the new chips will provide Android with the power it needs to expand to low end PC.

26. iDroidWin posted on 21 Dec 2012, 05:39 3 1

For me its iOS versus WP. Lot of similarities, Both are smooth (better frames rates than android). Both minimalistic. Dumbed down OS (user friendly out of the box). No true multi tasking. Not a lot of customization. Infact, WP is a step ahead with Live Tiles and I believe looks better and provides more choices in terms of handsets. Only thing left to score on, ecosystem. Let it develop. iOS users should shift to WP provided they don't stick to blind evangelism.

33. MeoCao (unregistered) posted on 21 Dec 2012, 06:17 2

I think Android has won the mobile war. The next big battle is for domination of PC.

We can see why MS got very aggressive lately against Google.

35. stychill posted on 21 Dec 2012, 07:33 2

you said "won" like its the end...its far from over.

38. iDroidWin posted on 21 Dec 2012, 08:56 2

Honestly, I don't want any winners. I want every OS to be out there competing with each other except for iOS. Personally, I think its difficult for iOS to last. As long as OS's compete with each other they will get better, we will have more choices. The only problem with Android is, it can be anything it wants to be. Might make the competition tough. Players like Xiaomi, Meizu or ZTE are still not famous. But I like what they have done with Android, especially Xiaomi's MIUI.

40. MeoCao (unregistered) posted on 21 Dec 2012, 10:25

it doesn't depend on our wishes, Android won doesn't mean the end of competition, iOS is still strong but I don't think they can change things drastically. And from Android many different OSes can emerge.

WP survives on MS money and except L920 it cannot sell. L920 alone cannot save WP.

47. iDroidWin posted on 22 Dec 2012, 01:33

8X is doing good. Infact, its capable of turning around hTC's future. 920 is a well built all round phone. If people can live with its weight, good phone. OS will take time. I want windows, BB10 to be there. I agree about many different OSes from Android, and that is why it might be difficult for other OS to win, especially OSes like MIUI. Its a perfect synthesis of iOS and Android, best of both world. Only thing android needs to work on is smoothness. 4.1 is smooth, but not as good as windows or iOS.

46. iDroidWin posted on 22 Dec 2012, 01:06

Interesting. But how I see it, PC are becoming obsolete. Tablet are next big thing, coupled with wireless keyboard (its irreplaceable for now, fastest typing speed on keyboards) and mouse (for arm friendliness if I may call it so). MS is getting agressive because they have lagged so far on tablet and smartphone platforms, behind Android and iOS. But they also have few advantage. For the first time, amongst the three, they are first one to try and make a universal OS. Yes, W8 is not perfect, given its still too much touch oriented, but they have made a start. If they somehow survive and get it right, they might be able to eliminated the differences of OS between PC (Windows, Linux and Mac OS) and Tablets (WP, Android and iOS).

48. 8logic posted on 22 Dec 2012, 01:57

just put the freaking start button back and everything will be ok..............
i don't see why not since all the "touch" things is an overlay and since they users get back to the normal window screen, why not put everything back in to the start button?????????

52. iDroidWin posted on 22 Dec 2012, 05:14

its the gestures I guess which is causing this issue. People have to move their mouse all the way down to close a window instead of a click. Haven't used Windows 8, but people who has says without a touchscreen, its difficult to operate.

Intel might have to reconsider its 18NM process :D, Sammy u go get em tiger..

50. 8logic posted on 22 Dec 2012, 02:01

i thought they were looking in to 7 and 9 nm processes

8. darac posted on 21 Dec 2012, 04:20 1

This should be ready for the Galaxy 5.. it could perhaps push that A15 to 2.5ghz and make the phone as powerful as a high end laptop. : o

In any case, classic tablets at least will soon turn into full - capable computing devices

14. Droid_X_Doug posted on 21 Dec 2012, 04:43 2

I fixed your post - Classic tablets from Sammy at least will soon turn into full - capable computing devices.

13. byazatt posted on 21 Dec 2012, 04:40 1

With these advances in chip industry ..power management plus output boost.. plus the growing popularity of android in so many appliances not just smartphones, I bet PC's territory is under a great threat. if an android tablet can out perform or match a laptop ( see how some netbooks choke on flash material for instance) then I can see people getting pulled away from PC's soon.

18. Droid_X_Doug posted on 21 Dec 2012, 04:59

PC sales are already being cannibalized by tablets. There was an article to that effect on PA about 3 to 4 months ago. This development will accelerate the process. Also, cannibalization is why MS is releasing Surface Pro - that is basically a desktop-strength (Intel i5 CPU) tablet.

20. darac posted on 21 Dec 2012, 05:23 1

Yeah but the pro is just a clumsy compromise in that regard .. it's too thick and heavy to be used as a classic tablet.
X86 will have to wait for Haswell to really enter the tablet space

43. Droid_X_Doug posted on 21 Dec 2012, 13:07

Pro (and RT) is v. 1.0 on the theme. Wait for the new improved editions with Sammy's new chip.

16. XiphiasGladius posted on 21 Dec 2012, 04:49 2

So could this mean that come 2013 we might see a Samsung Device rocking an OctaCore processor, specifically the rumored 4-A15 + 4-A7 configuration?

49. 8logic posted on 22 Dec 2012, 02:00

i sure hope so! but, most likely tablets will get it first due to production cap.

17. byazatt posted on 21 Dec 2012, 04:51

Good dream but I doubt they will out such a radical thing yet

19. shuaibhere posted on 21 Dec 2012, 05:00 1

And now apple will cry about this.....

30. joey_sfb posted on 21 Dec 2012, 05:49 1

Apple's arrogant lead them to attack their primary supplier. How stupid is that?!

32. TheCynicalTechie posted on 21 Dec 2012, 06:17

I need to see benchmarks of this and the Silvermont chipset to believe this is better. Intel has been making processors for years, even when AMD had the smaller transistor size first, Intel still had better performance. There is nothing here that leads me to believe this will stomp Silvermont. Silvermont brings true desktop performance to tablets.

36. mahmoudxcom posted on 21 Dec 2012, 08:04 1

i agree with you that intel is better in performance field but when it come to power saving intel is not good at all.

34. dan86 posted on 21 Dec 2012, 06:42

Samsung have some real potential to lead the computing world in future may be one day we might recognize Samsung as big brand as Google and Microsoft.

39. iDroidWin posted on 21 Dec 2012, 08:57

I don't think monopoly is good. Imagine what mobile phones would have been given what Nokia was doing when they had the monopoly. Things have changed completely.

37. ngo2dd posted on 21 Dec 2012, 08:41 1

what do they mean PC performance? There is now why they this chip can be better then an ivy bridge i5 or even and i3. The AMD A6 and above would be better then this. You Samsung fan boys are the worst.

51. 8logic posted on 22 Dec 2012, 02:05

i think they are referring to the amount of muti-tasking and degree of complicated application that is possible, not in benchmarks............

45. Friendlysky posted on 22 Dec 2012, 00:27 1

Becarefull Apple might think sammy copy them again. Apple alway know one thing steal and thiev as they say one fingure point to others there is three to themself. Sammy please sell me this part pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. I need it otherwise I will loose face to my apple customers and market share.I will drop your case pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee if you sell this part for me. Get Lost Ash-----l
