Safari is faster on iOS 6, according to benchmarks

It has been discovered that Safari on iOS 6 achieves better benchmark scores that it does on iOS 5. Most notably, there is a 17% increase in handling JavaScript, as tested with the Sunspider 0.9.1 benchmark...

it actually is faster. I was surprised when I first used it on the iOS 6 beta.

Agreed. I have a 4 and it is amazingly fast, even with the inferior processor (with respect to the 4S and 5). I've been very critical of Apple with this recent iOS update, but this one definitely one of the things that they got right. Must give respect where respect is due.
Also, I don't even use the official Facebook app any longer, as running it on Safari is nearly twice as fast as the native app. I also don't need to worry about constantly opening Safari and opening a bookmark, since iOS 6 has a new feature that allows you to create a homepage icon that looks exactly like the icon for the native app. I just click it, and I'm automatically taken to the Facebook website.
People can hate on Apple all they want, but they deserve some kudos for getting it right with their Safari app. I can't imagine how the experience must be on an iPhone 5 with its super-fast process AND LTE data speeds (I'm drooling just thinking about it). :)
