SNL hits iPhone right where it hurts
The audience for Saturday Night Live has certainly changed from the early days of the show, Instead of jokes about sex, drugs and rock n' roll, we now see the audience get a hearty laugh from a joke about...cellphones? Of course, since just about everyone knows a person toting around an iPhone-or personally owns one-this joke hits real close to home. With the way things are going in the rivalry between AT&T and Verizon, does this mean we should look forward to Luke Wilson as next week's SNL guest host?

I have only gotten some dropped calls but whatever..I use my iphone 3gs for work..nothing more..9/10 phone calls go through 99% of the time I travel..the joke is still on others carriers unable to talk n surf the web at the same time!

Actually any of Sprint's PDA's have the ability to talk and text or talk and search the web at the same time...face it, At&t was good and now they have less than competitive technology which leaves them in the dust of the more advanced company. Why would you choost a company that puts all their money into one device that when debuted was already not as good as phones currently available.

Sprint uses CDMA, I have BB Tour right here and I cannot talk and surf at the same time. Check your facts. You face it, GSM is still a world wide standard. How does that equate to being left in the dust? Enough already.

Doesnt T-Mobile let you do that too? It is cool to talk and surf at the same time but i wouldnt die if i didn't have it.

I can talk and surf the web at the same time on my Motorola DROID with Verizon. Yes I have to be on WiFi but still able too. Besides AT&T fails to mention you need to be on 3G to do voice/data...oh wait, there is a map for that too.

Yea saying the joke is on other carriers cause they cant surf the web and talk at the same time is like telling someone their phone is awesome and yours sucks but its better because it can do 2 things badly at the same time that the other phone cant. Really if thats the only argument to why AT&T and the iPhone r better than other carriers and other phones u better throw in the towel.

+1 even though Sprint ads 4g but Clearly demonstrates 3G technology phone, frst 4g network with no 4g functioning devices, Sprint is right behind at&t, well and everone else for that matter...

What the iPhone fanboy doesn't tell u or in this case probably doesn't know is that any GSM carrier can do this. Not just AT&T or the iPhone. So there really is nothing special about being able to talk and surf the web at the same time. Its old news.

After the DROID came out if AT&T hadn't had the iPhone they'd be up the creek without a paddle. Too bad it's on a glitchy network. I recently got the DROID and I think it's better than the iPhone. Some of my iPhone friends are thinking of leaving AT&T now! And yes, I'm able to make phone calls too (hence the video). Also I took some video on the Droid camera and the quality is amazing! Even a co-worker of mine (iPhone user) was jealous of the camera quality.

saying you got a DROID is like saying "i got the BLACKBERRY" or" i got the WINDOWS MOBILE". it's an operating system, not an ice cream flavor. at least you didn't get the KYOCERA hehe

actually DROID is not an operating system. it's the name of the phones dummy. Android is the operating system.

I suggested to my friend to buy the iPhone, but he said he would never go go AT&T. Then I told him that if he was going to stay on Verizon, he should get the Droid. I googled the Droid To get information about the phone and he said that he'll pass because he's waiting for a phone that's better than the iPhone. So I think it's just the people you meet. And a lot of people on Verizon who hate the iPhone are getting the Droid. Just like a lot of people who hated the iPhone in 2007 (like me) bought the Voyager. I don't think it's actually better. I think people just want it to be better. I mean look at the Pre. Everyone was talking about how that was going to be the next king.

The PRE was Palm, that should have been everyones first clue, Plus it was tiny, with an even tinier keyboard...WEAK! It is better because enough people NOW have had enough time to play with the iPhone to know it isnt ahead of technology now, its yesterdays technology Verizon just like every other time waited a few later rounds for the knockout, i.e CDMA, Droid, LTE...Verizon isnt the only provider in the black for no reason, Pre mature technology always fails (No pun intended)

ACTUALLY, VZW was number 1 until Cingular and AT&T merged, and at that time AT&T was 20 million (or something clsoe) more subs than VZW, then VZW was rapidly closing the gap by millions every quarter and brought it within 2 million before AT&T with their last breath grasped for the iPhone, and then the pace slowed to where vzw was only added a few 100k more per quarter rather than millions more. And alltel's whole point of existance was to be bought by a larger carrier, and the only contendors were Sprint and VZW, but Alltel's network was situated for an easier VZW takeover than sprint... soooo.... what are the options... Learn you facts.

jrcrow - ur an idiot. att can only have that feature on 3g, and their 3g network sucks as we have all seen the map. i have never needed that function and i use my phone for business all the time. if all att has to brag about is talking and surfing at the same time....then its pretty sad.

It's not useful because you probably never used it. I find myself usinig it all the time. I had verizon for 10 years, and didn't know It was possible until I switched earlier this year. You probably never had a need for text messaging until you got a chance to use it!

I think it would be stupid if they put the iPhone as the best after two years. And they chose the best device just two weeks after the Droid came out. Isn't that too fast? If the Droid came out 4 months ago and if the pre just came out, we would have seen that phone as the top mobile device. Everyone was saying that the Palm Pre was going to take down the iPhone. The phone released June but we've been reading news about the Pre since January. The people at phonearena were saying how that was it for iPhone. And look where we are now. Another iPhone killer.... The cycle never ends. Thank time and (especially) advertising for the Droids success.

The Iphone has been out for how many years and what has changed on it? Well other than now it's being blamed for atts sucky network issues. But how has the device changed at all. At least the android platform has great improved since it first came out. While other cell phones are moving food the iphone has been standing still the pass 3 years. Yea sounds like a great phone to me, something that refuses to change and improve for that long... awesome.

Better camera, video capture, more speed, 32gig of internal memory, better gps, best app store, best music store, best mutlitouch, best web browser, best touch screen, best music player, etc. Seriously, there is not much to change anymore. Multitasking and that's about it. And for the last time the phone has been out for over 2 years and not 3. That's a lot of bests for a phone that has hardly changed. I think the other phones are behind if they can't even beat the iPhone. And a lot of phones are just following the iPhone. Most new phones are capacitve touch screens, YouTube capable, accelerometer, visual voicemail, app stores, multitouch, $199 price tag, simplistic design, etc. It seems to me that everything the iPhone does everyone else just copies. And then people come and say that the iPhone hasn't done anything revolutionary. What's their incentive to keep coming out with more new technology if every phone is going to have that feature two weeks later? Think about that. What great thing has Android came up with? Zilch. Nobody wants to copy them. How about WebOS? Hardly anything. Their phone is a rip off the iPhone as well. Their "cards" are exactly The same idea as the tabs in the iphone's web browser.

better camera?? the iphone is a 2mpx camera without flash. its a crap camera at best. video capture? thats like touting MMS.. it went years WITHOUT it while free phones did it. apple didnt invent capacitive touch screens. they just jumped on the wagon while it was new. nor was it the first youtube, accellerometer, gps, come out at 199 originally, or done anything Revolutionary. it is Evolutionary, there is a difference. You sir, are an uneducated apple fanboy.. lol the iphone ripped off windows which had been doing smartphones for years. the iphone was nothing but an ipod with a phone attached to it when it launched. its still not a true smartphone. while yes, they improved some things and made it easier, they also removed all customizability and refused to put in basic functions like MMS and video recording. In a world that doesnt, ANdroid does. And while the DROID may be new, ANDROID is not as new, and therefor putting an android as the best new item is not a glitch, its where it belongs.

lol, umm, 2.0 meg camera is a better camera? not having turn by turn nav is better gps? ooo 32 gig of internal memory for the 300 dollar one. I can buy another 16 gig card for 50 dollars. Best app store cause it's been out the longest, give that time. No longer the best web browsing either. And actually besides multitasking, is there is much more to improve on. How about a dependable that won't drop calls more than any other phone. No longer the best touch screen phone out there either. Don't get me wrong apple had the best device out there 3 years. Now it's dropping fast. You're only as good as you are today and today.... the iphone has been found wanting.
