SIM-free Samsung ATIV S is available for pre-order with MobiCity in Australia
The ATIV S Windows Phone has not made too many appearances since its introduction. Though a few days ago, we got to see a video walk-through of the device.  Now, online retailer MobiCity is offering pre-orders of an unlocked Samsung ATIV S for 699AUD ($720, €549, £446).

The handset being peddled is a 3G-only model, compatible with the 3G networks of Optus, Vodafone, and Telstra/Vodafone “NextG” 3G services. The site has marked the ATIV S a bit higher than the 3G, 16GB version of the Samsung Galaxy S III, which is listed for 539AUD.

There is no expected ship-date listed, but if you do not care about 4G LTE and want to grab a Windows Phone 8 device as quickly as possible, since MobiCity does not have any of the other WP8 devices available for pre-order, here is your chance. Is the Samsung ATIV S the Windows Phone 8 device you want?

I've bought from Mobicity before and they are extremely competitive with established handset prices and very good with service, but one thing to note is that with the launch of an anticipated high demand handset, they gouge pretty severely, more than others: if you can wait around 30-45 days, you will see this handset at less than AUD $600...

I'm going to wait for the second wave of WindowsPhones. Hopefully we will get a WP8 phone with a QWERTY keyboard by then.Until then 7.8 on my Dell Venue Pro is fine.
