SIM-free Nokia Lumia 800 delayed until 2012
Share:
The Nokia Lumia 800, the first Windows Phone from Nokia, is the company’s flagship phone that is shipping with Windows Phone Mango. The handset has already seen great pre-order sales, including reports of it taking the top spot at The Phone House in France. Clove Technology also stated in its blog that it has been seeing massive interest in the handset from consumers.
Customers that have already pre-ordered a SIM-free version of the Lumia 800, should expect to receive email notification of the delay very soon. The traditional, locked version with a contract is expected to arrive on schedule. A release date for the US is still not available, but is anticipated for early 2012 – possibly around the same time as the delayed SIM-free version.

Thank's for clearing that up I was wondering what in the hell they were talking about. I was thinking if they meant a CDMA version but why would anyone call it "SIM-free"

i think the sim free version is delayed because the carrier sponsord versions are showing great pre-orders/sales and nokia can not meet the supply demands.

It may still be the price, though. Granted that Telefonica refused to subsidize Lumia 800, Nokia surely is aware that the price is not very competitive.
So, here comes Apple's strategy - make the phone look cheaper (and competitive) by not letting it go free. After all, Titan is mere £30 more that Lumia 800 SIM free.

Well, I'm not sure but I saw one on Three website, £399.00 (VAT Inc.) available for pre-order. And it said the earliest delivery will be on Fri 18 Nov, 2011. :)

Oh sorry, the phone I mentioned is not a sim-free. It comes with 3's pay as you go sim. But it's still a good price for me compare to the other retailers'.
