The iPhone might be the most popular single smartphone in the United States where it sells for a pretty affordable $200 on a two-year contract, but go to some other countries…

I think apple is too serious with their competition.
4. Ubi2447 (Posts: 131; Member since: 14 Feb 2012)
I don't think that Apple ever got the memo that competition is a healthy thing to have in a market. Recently they have been really really aggressive and it's off putting towards other manufacturers as well as customers.
All in all I think we should feel lucky that Apple didn't patent the chair or eye-glasses.
13. p0rkguy (Posts: 684; Member since: 23 Nov 2010)
Apple has never really won any competitions... Competition isn't really an option for them.
Hey Apple, remember getting hospitalized by Microsoft?
Well meet Google and one of their many children, Samsung.
15. Yummy (Posts: 117; Member since: 28 Mar 2012)
Well apple only gets credit for making products with little to no design change or making a product and saying they invented it. That's how they compete.
No I'm not a fandroid because if I were a sheep then I would say ewww android is fragmented. It's a never ending war. I don't like picking sides. I have a symbian phone for gods sake lol

It takes a dictator to call out another dictator.
17. remixfa (Posts: 14255; Member since: 19 Dec 2008)
you know your in trouble when one dominant ruling party whines that someone is worse than they are. lol
21. SuperAndroidEvo (Posts: 4628; Member since: 15 Apr 2011)
remixfa that is so funny. It's sad but so true. lol
What about that crazy pic. The Apple logo is perfect for that. Very indicative right?
31. remixfa (Posts: 14255; Member since: 19 Dec 2008)
considering how many people have killed themselves or died at apple factories because they were too cheap to install ventillation and the air got so thick with explosive particles that the air literally exploded... all while making slave wages.. yea.. its pretty appropriate
32. SuperAndroidEvo (Posts: 4628; Member since: 15 Apr 2011)
Not a nice way to go. Poor people, they were just trying to make a living. They didn't need to die doing it. Very needless & very neglectful by Apple.
35. TheLibertine (Posts: 484; Member since: 15 Jan 2012)
If you don't want to buy goods produced in China's Foxconn and Co., throw away every of your Android handset and your Intel computer too... As if it would be an Apple-exclusive problem...
36. remixfa (Posts: 14255; Member since: 19 Dec 2008)
samsung's top end mobile products are all made in house at samsung factories by workers who get paid more, work less, and have rights and benefits, unlike apple/foxconn.
Foxconn themselves said 2 things of note. 1) each factory is run differently based on the client's wishes. 2) Apple has the worst conditions of all the factories they run. And yea, they make stuff for pretty much everyone including MS, Asus, and others.

Wish I could give more than one thumbs up for this comment, it's right on target with reality.
39. SuperAndroidEvo (Posts: 4628; Member since: 15 Apr 2011)
C'mon Foxconn only follows suit to what the client wants. Apple is known to be the worst. You can't put all Foxconn's clients in the same pool with Apple.
Each client has it's own wishes. Sorry but you are wrong.

you guys should be happy. More market share for Android right? Isn't that all that matters to you guys? lol
45. lyndon420 (Posts: 2700; Member since: 11 Jul 2012)
Yeah...yeah...market share. All that matters is market share. I love it when iZombie's start fishing for any form of justification...they start to sound like some kid from a strict close-minded religious family.
50. E.N. (Posts: 2531; Member since: 25 Jan 2009)
fishing for justification? Justification for what? There's nothing to justify, lol. In case you missed it, I was making fun of you guys.
If the iPhone is too expensive then DON'T BUY. You guys PRETEND like you care, but you actually don't. You guys don't even like Apple and you hate on everyone that owns one, so be happy that this make it difficult for Apple to take increase market share because "huge Russian carriers like Megafon simply refused to sell the device".
I for one don't really care about what's going on with the iPhone in Russia. What surprises me though is how much you all seem to care.

We have one that think he is running the USA right now
6. Ubi2447 (Posts: 131; Member since: 14 Feb 2012)
Lol same. At first I had to double take on what it actual was.

"Apple on the other hand doesn’t seem too disturbed. Tim Cook, the chief executive at Cupertino, has repeatedly said that for Apple quality is the first and foremost priority. "
And the "Quality" that Tim Cook is talking about is his checkbook.
Good Luck Samsung
34. sgogeta4 (Posts: 393; Member since: 02 Feb 2011)
They aren't disturbed by Samsung/Android? Then why are they putting in more money into their lawyers then their R&D? That's what I thought.

“Being arrogant with your partners in big markets doesn’t pay off.” Sums up a ton of problems Apple always seems to be in the middle of. Cut the crap, just make devices and let the consumers decide.
25. E.N. (Posts: 2531; Member since: 25 Jan 2009)
I think we just love putting Apple in the center of everything, even when its unnecessary
51. lyndon420 (Posts: 2700; Member since: 11 Jul 2012)
Think of it as karma biting apple in the arse. You can only sue the world for so long before the world starts pushing back. Every ounce of misery that apple is subjected too is welcome.
52. E.N. (Posts: 2531; Member since: 25 Jan 2009)
Your comment has nothing to do with what I just said.

"Apple's main goal is to make great products, not money, says Jonathan Ive" haha

18. remixfa (Posts: 14255; Member since: 19 Dec 2008)
apple is concerned about quality first and foremost..
wait.. i didnt know quality was also defined as crazy profit margins. If they were crazy for quality, they would have fixed the i4 and not told people it was their fault for holding it wrong.
19. PhoneArenaUser (Posts: 5498; Member since: 05 Aug 2011)
You didn't understand it right, they are talking about price quality. :)
20. JunkCreek (Posts: 406; Member since: 13 Jul 2012)

That's not only in Russia in mexico the iPhone 4s costs 12,000 pesos on TELCEL approx 1,200 US dollars and that's on a 2 year contract off contract price I'm not even gonna go there . But its not only the iPhone's in Mexico the galaxy s3 is much more expensive its 14,000 pesos 1,400 US dollars with a 2 year contract on TELCEL. Not everyone can afford phones like that cuz with the minimum wage a regular person makes 500 pesos a week approx 50 US dollars no wonder when I was in Mexico city 2 weeks ago the majority of people had cheap flip phones that were so 2008 I felt awkward cuz I had an xperia ion from att which was roaming on TELCEL all my family members from over there were all over my phne cuz they cud nevr afford one b so I gave one of my cuzins my unlocked att galaxy note for she cud use it with telcel and another cuzin my unlocked iPhone 4s
26. MAS10X (Posts: 38; Member since: 26 Jul 2011)
But for Mexico is a lot easier to get phones from the US at affordable prices and unlocking them to use in Mexico, I live in the border and I have so many friends and family members that do that. Just like you did with your family so have I

then apple wants to put an end to that hack the russian guy came up with for app store purchases. seriously he must be a russian hero.
37. Jay_F (Posts: 236; Member since: 29 Nov 2011)
Yes good analogy for Apple, a dictatator. "Hey if you want this device you have to pay more money for it do to the export costs." Sounds like a dictatorship to me. Now if they forced you to buy the product, that'd be another story, but for some reason I doubt that's happening.
38. marchels14 (unregistered)
somebody just wants to squeeze money out of people as much as they can.like apple.they don't care about people they just say they do.
40. Shino (banned) (Posts: 196; Member since: 23 Jul 2012)
Dear PA, many times I've made comments about your team illiteracy and lack of professionalism. This ''article'' is a true confirmation of it. Please, change that stupid collage on the top of your "article'' immediately and fire the ape who wrote it, if you really care about being professionals. It is offensive and abusing. In the meantime I will have this article sent to Apple representatives and local authorities for investigation.
43. GoBears (Posts: 412; Member since: 27 Apr 2012)
This might be the dumbest comment I've read in a long time. It's a free country, if you don't like it, then don't read it. I'm sure the FBI and Apple are going to launch a huge joint investigation at this horrific article lol.
44. GoBears (Posts: 412; Member since: 27 Apr 2012)
Oh yeah... Rock on Phone Arena! I enjoy reading your articles every day.
47. lyndon420 (Posts: 2700; Member since: 11 Jul 2012)
The FBI and apple most likely will share a "joint" and a laugh over his comment and self-righteousness. And while they're doing that, their reps will be contacting his village to let them know that their iDiot has been found lurking on "that evul internat".
48. lyndon420 (Posts: 2700; Member since: 11 Jul 2012)
So...you're apples b*tch eh? What's your safety word? iGive? You need to give Russia a call and tell them how it is big boy.
