0. phoneArena 16 Oct 2012, 08:04 posted on

According to an anonymous tipster, Verizon might be having troubles launching Windows Phone 8 smartphones on schedule. In fact, the matter is so serious that the carrier's upcoming WP8 devices might be cancelled, unless a solution to the problem is found...

It is always good to have AT&T, well let me be clear, it is always good to have AT&T where you have service......I only say that because people will start that claim they do not have service, when I live in NY and have better reception then a Verizon and Tmobile flagship phone....well honestly tmobile much worse in my house, at least you get one bar here or there on verizon, i do not have sprint so i cannot check it

...not exactly on topic, but let me try to explain "remote access".

Verizon uses an on-board (the handset) diagnostic tool to troubleshoot device problems from afar. I understand that the user grants permission (can't say at what point this done). This PhoneArena post explainshttp://www.phonearena.com/news/Verizon-clarifies-diagnostic-tool-capabilities-in-the-LG-Revolution_id28220.

The dark side of this is clear, as well as the benefit to both VZW and the customer. I hate going to their retail outlets for help.

I agree. At&t is not complaining or the Canadian companies. I feel Google has a hand in this rumor as the same way they talk about the iPhone. I have a galaxy 3 and iPhone 5 and the only iPhone issue I've seem so far is the purple haze in certain lights but with the next update it will be fixed like any apple issue is fixed. I use to loved my galaxy 3 more before the update it first got due to the law suites.

I wonder what "remote access" the carrier needs? I could understand troubleshooting, but that's what corporate stores are for. Anything beyond that sounds nefarious

Corporate stores? The VZW store reps can't troubleshoot themselves out of a wet paper bag, they'll just stick you on a phone to call in to customer service, unless they can sell you a phone instead. In regards to the original story, color me shocked, shocked I tell you that VZW would delay release of something customers might actually want.

You are a retard. VZ reps go through tons of tech support training because the cost of warranty replacement units. This is the same for all carries. If you did a hack job jailbreak or root then most of them delight in being unhelpful because it is fun to watch a know it all tech retard squirm under the knowledge that they effed their device and it isn't going to be covered. Cheers, d**k anus.

Excellent post, box. This could be one of those rumors that in 2 days we find out someone close to the situation heard there was a small glitch that needs improving, and ran with it.

Does ANYONE really think the #1 carrier in the US would be confirming phones as coming to their network (like the have for the Nokia 822 and the HTC 8X) that has not been PROVEN AND TESTED to work on their network? Like Big Red hasn't ever done this before. If The Trophy worked on Verizon, so will WP 8.

T-Mobile will see your unlimited data plan, and raise you unlimited talk & text for lower monthly rates, excepting equipment subsidies

Has Verizon ever NOT had a problem launching a new phone? They are almost ALWAYS delayed, and if not delayed, they are released with serious problems. This new comes as no surprise.

AND overpriced. How many of their flagships have launched at $299.99? The only phone AT&T's released that high lately was the Galaxy Note, which is understandable due to its size and that the GS2 was $199.99 at the time. Other than that, just the 32gb variants of the iphones have been that high, but the base model is still a penny short of $200, like every other AT&T flagship of late

How is this a rumor? When has Verizon ever not been the last to get a phone by a long shot? It takes time to make sure the phone is as non functional as possible. Wouldn't want your customers getting any extra value or use out of their devices.

I am really thinking that Verizon may no longer be the right choice for me. Though Att may not be much better, at least they have access to a whole slew of phones without these meaningless limitations that do not do much else except irritate consumers.

I would take Verizons lineup over ATT. Only because I like samsung and Motorolla. Only thing limited with their new plan is data. Mobile hotspot is unlocked for free now. Coverage wise its not even close, unless you never go anywhere.

Nooooo!! I hope this rumor is not true. I am really looking forward to WP8, but I will not switch carriers for sake of a phone. VZW's coverage across the board has been all aces with me. :-/

Are you sh***ting me. Sold my S3 and bought a used Trophy to get my familarity with WP back so I could get the Big Red WP8 phone. Now this. When I was younger, I had patience. Now that the mid 60's are here, well not so much any more. I'll follow this very closely.

Going to try out AT&T and all the signs are pointing away from VZW... They are the best service providers, but at what cost (monetary and device availability as well as customer relations!)

I cant be true considering I have used the HTC 8X multiple times on Verizon it is in testing now. So I don't believe this. On a side note the call quality sucks on the 8X and hand offs from 3G to 4G also suck and make the screen flash considering this is due to come out sooner rather than later I am inclined to believe these amongst other issues I have experienced will still be present
