0. phoneArena 19 Dec 2012, 13:13 posted on
We have been hearing about the incoming update for Windows Phone 8 devices, and it looks like the rollout is beginning at least for the Nokia Lumia 920. Nokia had said the update would be released this month, and now has said the update is rolling out in the US and Canada. This is the update we'd heard about codenamed Portico, now labeled as PR1.1...

It has JB 4.1, NOT 4.2, the latest version.

"is not here in USA" huh? i live in michigan. got it from KIES which is samsung's sync program. how is it not here in USA? i think i'm being trolled. you cant be that slow. my phone is a lumia 920. what about those lumia 900 users that wont get wp8? thats the same as gs3 users not getting android 4.2. stop acting like it doesnt happen with windows phone also.

Will former "flagships" like L900 get WP8 update? And wait until next year to see how fast L920 will be updated, if at all.
And has L900 got WP7.8 update by now? when it will happen?

JB4.1 is the current OS for GS3s almost worldwide. It does not have JB4.2 (which should have been 4.1.5 or something)

My Lumia 920 just got updated! I can take even better pics now with it. Who needs a dedicated camera when you have this phone!

Ever try to take loss-less zoom shots? L920 can't do that. Until the L920 comes with optical zoom, dedicated cameras still can do things it can't.

Wooow!! Really a huge difference, specially in outdoors photos, more vivid, accurate colors and detailed pics, loving PR1.1

Can it take 99 continuous shots in burst mode at 0.2 sec/shot..?
also wide angle in both fron and back camera like HTC droid dna...?

is not about the quantity or the viewing angle, is about quality!

well theres apps to do that ,but to be honest, I would rather have , the best low light shots ,on any smart phone , plus best video stabilization blur free lol like my lumia 920 can? how did u like that .

The portico update on the 8X had wifi when screen off does the Nokia Lumia 920 have that too? It would be natural to assume so but I haven't seen any article mentioning it.

Messaging improvements. A great messaging experience is now even better. You can now add multiple recipients at the same time when you send a text message and automatically save unsent text messages as drafts. You can even edit received text messages before you forward them.
Text replies to incoming calls. Can’t take a call? Now you can send a prewritten text reply to a caller directly from the call answer screen. It’s a nice way to let people know that you’re not ignoring them.
Internet Explorer improvements. You can now change your settings to prevent pictures from downloading automatically—an easy way to help keep data usage low. You can also delete selected sites from your browsing history and leave the rest intact.
Wi-Fi connectivity. Got a favorite Wi-Fi network? Windows Phone 8 will now prioritize Wi-Fi connections based on your connection history.
Other improvements. Includes many other improvements to Windows Phone.

hey people. I understand you, I am glad for Nokia that it's quick to bring updates. Sammy have got a new rival in imaging technology. But the camera in phone is not that important, the principal feature is versatility of os. Wp is very limited and restricted. MS have chosen the wrong way to be proprietary like Apple.
25. -box- (Posts: 3991; Member since: 04 Jan 2012)
They may be proprietary but they're not as locked down as ios. At least Microsoft lets its hardware manufacturers make their own phones (that meet minimum specs) and come up with their own software tweaks and add-ons. The day apple does that I'll, well, why even plan for the impossible?

Not to mention I just got a cinematography update on my L920 that allows me to send the funny GIFs via Facebook, text and email. So far I have no issues that make me want to go back to Android.
