10 board games for iPhone, iPad, and Android
Since it has been invented over 5000 years ago, Backgammon is regarded as one of the oldest board games in existence. It is one of those games that everyone should try out at least once in their lifetime.
iPhone or iPad ($1.99)
Android ($1.59) | Free Android version
2. Parchis / Ludo Classic
Pachisi (also known as Ludo) is another must-have board game for up to 4 players. Its rules are really simple, which makes it ideal for young kids and novice board game fans.
iPhone or iPad ($0.99)
3. Game of Life
And yet another board game that can turn a boring rainy afternoon into a fun family hangout. As the name suggests, Game of life emulates a person's lifetime with all fortunate and unfortunate events that happen along the way.
iPhone or iPad ($0.99)
Now it is time to start with the more serious stuff. Catan is a strategy board game, which requires you to pick your location wisely based on the map's layout. But in addition to strategic skills, you need a bit of luck as well as there are dice involved.
iPhone or iPad ($4.99)
5. Civilization Revolution
Civilization started as a turn-based strategy game for the PC, but it has been converted in several forms since then. A board game and a card game versions exist and are pretty fun to play. Keep in mind, however, that it does take a while to pick up the game's mechanics.
iPhone or iPad ($0.99)
Free iPhone or iPad version
Here is another lovely board game, in which you gradually build a map with each tile you draw from the pile. The rules are relatively simple so even novice players can pick them up in no time.
iPhone or iPad ($9.99)
7. Puerto Rico
Puerto Rico is a title that we would recommend to experienced board game fans. There is no luck involved; just careful planning and resource managing.
8. Dominion HD
When was the last time you attempted to conquer the world? (In a game, that is.) If it has been a while, check out Dominion HD for the iPad.
9. Elder Sign: Omens
You control the good guys, and the bad guys need to be eradicated. Do you have what it takes to stop the Ancient One from invading the planet?
iPhone or iPad ($3.99)
10. Through the Desert
Through the Desert is a fun board game, in which players must build a path by linking caravans together. Sounds pretty straightforward, but other players will be trying to do the same thing, which is where the game gets challenging.
iPhone or iPad ($1.99) | HD version ($2.99)
11. Bonus item: Agricola
We know that this title is not out yet, but the board game is really fun to play, so we hope its digital version will be just as enjoyable. Agricola should come to an iPhone or iPad near you this summer.

Damn, Life and Civ are a steal for iOS users. One game I would add to this list is Risk on iOS for $2.99 and Drisk by Brian DeWolff on Android for $1.99. The one for iOS has some cool visuals and the one for Android comes with tons of new map variants. Two amazing mobile versions of the classic board game. Nice job Nick T, interesting list of mobile board games.

I would KILL for Civ Revolutions on my Android...I had it on my iPod and could not put that s**t down.
Carcassone was awesome, and after seeing that it's on android I'm about to go download it.

The title is misleading.
This article is about iOS games. The only time that Android is even mentioned is when there is an android version of the iOS game. It almost makes you think there are no android only board games which is extremely untrue.
how do you forget the classics like chess. :)
