Rogers slashes price of HTC Magic and Dream under $100
After deciding that the ole' razor and blade method might be more profitable, Rogers has decided to cut the price of both the HTC Dream and Magic handsets to 1 cent short of a C Note with a 3 year contract. The reduction in price adds up to a $50 savings and the carrier is hoping that the lower price of $99.99 will draw in more buyers who will then need to sign up for a monthly data plan. It's the same business plan that brings oodles of cash flow into companies like Gillette. The price cut also might be due to the Android duo's popularity in Canada where the iPhone comes first and local company BlackBerry comes next. Regardless of the reason, Canadian cellphone customers are the winners here with the new lower prices.
