Rogers rolls out a 911 software patch for the Magic and Dream
Share:
As you may recall, we first reported a problem a week ago about the Rogers HTC Dream , as it would not connect you to 911 Emergency if the location-based GPS was also enabled. Then a few days later we learned that the HTC Magic had the same problem. Now it appears that HTC and Rogers have developed a software patch, that when downloaded will allow you to place 911 calls without having to turn the GPS off. But there's a catch...your phone will not have internet access until after you apply the update, thus Rogers believes this will get most users to install it. As a courtesy, Rogers will credit all their HTC Dream and Magic users one month of data fees.

Also to add to this story - the patch adds Touch-Flo as part of the update. Unfortunately it isn't so straightforward for Win7 people to update because HTC Sync isn't working properly with that O/S.
