Rising Star debuts on ABC Sunday; download the app and become a judge
As if we needed a new singing competition, Rising Star debuts 9pm EDT Sunday on ABC. What makes this show different than American Idol, X-Factor or The Voice, is that you can be a judge. In fact, all you need to do to become a judge, is to download the Rising Star app, and use it to vote for your favorite contestants.

The app is available from the Apple App Store, Google Play Store, and the Windows Phone Store, and allows you to vote in real-time. Before each contestant performs, you check in via the app. When it is time to vote, you swipe to the right to vote YES, or swipe to the left to vote NO. Your vote is counted immediately. If enough voters swipe to the right, the three-story wall that the contestant is standing behind starts to rise, exposing him or her to the live audience.

You must be 13 or older to use the app, and 18 or older if you want to see your profile picture appear on national television. If you're the shy sort, you can opt-out of sharing your picture with the rest of the world. Unlike the other singing competitions, which allow you to vote multiple times, you are allowed just one vote per act.

If you've always wanted to be the one to determine if an act moves on or goes home, this is your chance. Click on the video below, and if you're still interested, download the Rising Star app from the appropriate app store.
