Isn't a phone ring supposed to be distracting? It's supposed to alert you to an incoming phone call. If it wasn't distracting, then we'd miss important phone calls ALL the time!

This article seems pointless to me as well. The ring of a cellphone should only distract you for so long. Unless someone constantly calls you.

i also agree that this article is stupid. if you dont want to lose focus on something your trying to concentrate on then put your phone on silent or just turn it off..

I guess what the article is trying to say is that just like talking on the phone and texting while driving is distracting and takes away from your concentration on the road, a phone suddenly ringing might be as distracting and thereore just as dangerous.

I have to say that this article is partially making sense and is partially non-sense. Well for the partially-making-sense side first... A ringing phone can be annoying most especially when you are inside your classroom having an examination and suddenly a friend of yours who happened to be having fun of you keeps on calling you even though without any serious or real intentions. Now for the non-sense side.. A ringing phone can be really useful especially when the call is pretty much important than your current activity. Like for example, when you are just out there hanging out with your friends and then suddenly your boss calls you to have a very important appointment. Just imagine if your phone is in silent mode and the vibration turned off and you failed to answer the call. I shall say, good luck to you and hope you won't be suspended on your current job by your boss for tomorrow!

UM IN A PUBLIC PLACE A CELL PHONE RINGING IS THE LAST THING THAT SHOULD BE DISTRACTING. I UNDERSTAND CLASSROOMS OR OFFICES BECAUSE THAT GETS ON MY NERVES TOO LIKE CANT YOU PEOPLE BE A LIL MORE RESPECTFUL.. BUT PUBLIC PLACES..COME ON
