Retailers already reporting Nexus 7 as sold out

0. phoneArena posted on 13 Jul 2012, 17:16

It seems like people really do love 7" tablets priced at $200 and branded by known companies (ie Google & Amazon, not Pandigital or Maylong,) because word has it that retail partners have already begun reporting that the Google Nexus 7 is sold out...

Whoever is handling the retail/distribution/logistics of N7 is clearly incompetent. People who pre-ordered long back haven't received that, yet they are selling it in the stores now.. Google need to learn from Apple/Samsung how to deal with such situations. First send it to people who pre-ordered, then send it for stores.

And Google, I hope you do know that there are people outside 4 countries who know about phones/tablet. How much I am excited about N7? None coz those morons decided to to sell it in my country. So, anything about N7 is totally irrelevant to me as I can't buy it even though I want to!!

These are all pre-orders. The only store that is shipping the tablet is the Google Play Store. No one else is authorized to ship or distribute yet.

Given how small the production run is said to be, it's hard to imagine Google would have been able to sell in too many countries. It makes sense that the focus would be on regions like the US, Europe, and Japan with the small initial run. Then when production ramps up, Google will likely start releasing the tablet in other markets.

First, it is selling in ONLY in 4 countries.. UK does not mean whole of Europe.

And it is NOT selling in Japan.

So, you are wrong when you say it is selling in Europe. No it's not. It's only selling in US, Canada, UK and Australia.

Not Europe, not Japan, and no Asia. Get your facts right before you type.

Speaking of facts, the UK is a part of Europe. So if something is selling in the UK, it is selling in Europe. Just not all of Europe. You really should listen to your own advice.

You need to understand how a business works in a capitalist system. Pre-orders are almost as good as guaranteed sales so there's no urgency to send them first. A businees needs to strike the iron while it is hot so it will balance filling preorders and sending inventory to resellers for the early adopters.

"Pre-orders are almost as good as guaranteed sales so there's no urgency to send them first."

Can't book the sale until the unit that was sold is shipped. As you mentioned further in your post, a business needs to strike the iron while it is hot.... Shipping preorders as soon as possible is the quickest way to "...strike the iron while it is hot...."

Google sells N7 in stores only to catch public attention, especially of those who don't know about Play Store. People come to street stores, they want to buy N7 and they'll go to Google Play where N7 is still available.

dang this thing is going to sell like crazy! Congrats google on a great device

Isn't it amazing - produce a right-spec'd product, put a great O/S on it, and price it so that the value proposition becomes compelling and the manufacturer can't produce enough to meet demand. Daayuum.

I got an email confirmation from Staples this afternoon saying that I will be receiving mine on Monday, July 16th! And I pre-ordered it on 07-10-2012.....so less than a week turn-around time :-)
Not bad at all!
I had originally ordered it through the Play Store, but since I had to pay for tax AND shipping, I cancelled it and ordered it through Staples since the shipping was free!
So long as they come through with their delivery estimate of Monday the 16th, I will be a VERY happy customer....

The Nexus 7 is sold out before they even released it in the stores LMFAO all "pre-orders" nice move Google ;)

21. networkdood posted on 15 Jul 2012, 17:41

Gonna try and get one for Christmas, if I can afford it....maybe by then, Amazon will agree to sell it.

22. gwuhua1984 posted on 16 Jul 2012, 03:10

I'll be placing an order for it from Gamestop... Unfortunately, I can't order until later this year for Christmas. Perhaps I should wait and see if Nexus 10 will come.
