Reserved invites for the OnePlus X can be claimed in the U.S. and Canada

For the first month that the OnePlus X is being offered, OnePlus will be using the invite system that it employs to match supply with demand. After the first month, the device is expected to be found for sale from other channels without requiring the notorious invites. Those in the U.S. and Canada who reserved an invitation can now go ahead and claim it. Once you do, you can use the invite to buy the phone, with prices starting at $249.

You can also try to win a OnePlus X, or one of 1000 invites being given away by OnePlus, in a contest that we told you all about earlier today. Besides the contest, there are other ways to land a invite. You can try to brown nose someone who just purchased the phone. OnePlus X buyers get invitations to hand out, so if you get in good with a buyer, perhaps he or she will give you one. You can also be a constant presence on OnePlus' forums and be rewarded with an invitation, or attend one of the pop-up shows that are held from time-to-time.

The OnePlus X is not for the specs junkies, like the other OnePlus models are. This phone is for the guy who wants to hold the model that everyone in a crowd is gravitating to, asking, "Hey bro, what phone is that?" The OnePlus X features a Gorilla Glass 3 protected 5-inch AMOLED screen, with a 1080 x 1920 resolution. That works out to a 441ppi pixel density. The Snapdragon 801 SoC is under the hood, with a quad-core 2.3GHz CPU and the Adreno 330 GPU. 3GB of RAM is inside along with 16GB of native storage. A 128GB capacity microSD is available to those seeking additional memory.

A 13MP rear-facing snapper offers an aperture of f/2.2, and there is a front-facing 8MP camera for selfies and video chats. A 2525mAh battery keeps the lights on, and Android 5.1.1 is pre-installed. The phone will be receiving Android 6.0 eventually.

So if you've reserved your invitation in the U.S. and Canada, better claim it now. If the OnePlus X being held for you doesn't ends up in your hands soon, you'll have to wait at least a month before you get another crack at it.
