According to the Seattle Times, the nation's fourth largest carrier, T-Mobile, will lay off a large number of employees prior to its merger with MetroPCS; the paper says that 100 people in marketing and other groups could get pink slips as soon as Thursday when some conference rooms have already been reserved for "integration" meetings...

What people don't realize is that Bellevue is bloated with people that no one knows what they do, they lived a great life up there with catered lunches and meetings upon meetings. I think the account for a third of the work force... So I'll just leave it at that

Nah, they're ok through this year.
Next year, though, with sprint shutting down its (that is, Clearwire's) WiMax, they're going to have a lot of p.o'ed customers who will have to get new LTE phones in areas there isn't LTE. And while they do offer unlimited, their speeds still suck, their phone selection is sparse, and their reception inside structures is still iffy.
T-Mobile has a stronger position: they're gaining customers, offer power rates if you don't subsidize your phone, unlimited, and while their phone lineup isn't as fleshed out (or glut) like AT&T's, being able to use any unlocked GSM device widens the available scope quite considerably. This merger will cement their strengths and add on LTE, more coverage, and more customers.

Sprint is keeping WiMAX alive through 2015 and their Network Vision / nationwide LTE deployment / 3G upgrades / Sprint Direct Connect deployment and HD Voice will be largely complete by the end of this year. There may be additional work to fill small coverage pockets through early 2014 and of course regular network maintenance. Sprint will also be deploying 800mhz LTE and voice to improve their coverage substantially.
I really don't see Sprint going anywhere, Network Vision is moving along and once the initial nationwide rollout is complete, they'll be working on LTE Advanced, VoLTE and Clearwire's deployment of 20x20 LTE which will be much faster than any other carrier.
Sprint is also expected to see substantial investment from Softbank, much like Verizon has with Vodafone and T-Mobile with DT.

Tmobile gaining customers you said????? Mmmmmm ok thats one way of looking at it. I know PA didnt post last quarter numbers for Tmobile, but gaining 50 000 customers is not great. I guess they arent losing customers at least. But they gained 500 000 prepaid so they are cannibalizing their own post paid ones (postpaid/contract tend to spend more on average). Verizon only added 2 mill contract customer.
I still think they will never be able to compete keeping their prices that low. At least it is good news for current tmobile customers as their prices will remain low. If they were to raise prices just a bit they would go back to losing customers. I believe they arent going anywhere but they will remain at the 4th.

Just like Sprint, the moment you go into bed with Apple, you get effed.. then the people who had jobs, who are totally innocent mind you, they get effed and lose the well being why?. Apple means evil in B.C. and it's true, when your lamely ridiculous margins only serve one company and everyone else loses their butts, people get laid off, companies close down. Apple as always is the root of all lameness. Tmobile gets apple and bam.. the rest in this story... more in my youtube video which is all true!
