Report: Samsung Galaxy S IV to have Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 inside; boot screen leaks

0. phoneArena 23 Feb 2013, 07:24 posted on

According to an insider, it looks like the Samsung Galaxy S IV will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor instead of a Samsung Exynos one because of heating issues with the latter; while the HTC One will use a Snapdragon 600 processor clocked at 1.7GHz, the one used on the next flagship Samsung handset will be set at 1.9GHz...

Now here comes all the butt-devastated Sony shills paid by Sony!

FYI the LG optimus G copied xperia GX front design. LG is the one that copied SONY in the first place. The gx came out before Optimus g

Was waiting until I heard a little more to make my decision. I don't see any reason to wait for SIV, gonna go with Note2.

The removable battery is the most important feature to me. I can live with non-expandable memory. I will definitely own this phone. With pure AOSP though of course. TouchWiz can suck it.

I don't see the rush here to release the S4 on time. Sammy could easily hold this event until September or October. The S3 came out last year & it's still in the front line fighting against the new devices (Xperia Z & HTC One) demonstrating that it can handle the fight. Same is the Note2 which is an excellent device.

Look at Apple: They took a long time to release the Iphone 5 & they are taking it light to realease the Iphone 6 as they're mostly focusing on their Ipad. On the other hand, Blackberry took a long time to develope BB10 & even tough it's not perfect, it's far better than OS 7.1

I don't see why Sammy is trying to rush this. Consumers should wait if they want something good. At the end of the day if the S4 is a fail the consumers will destroy it with their comments.

I'm a realistic Android Fanboy. I don't have an issue with the 1.9 Snapdragon & the 2GB of RAM, but we need a better screen man!

Just hope this handset would not be announced on March 14th

It's my humble opinion.

hmm a year is enough, there r many people out there waiting for an excellent upgrade.. a year is also enough for sammy to test all things done, and why (maybe) at this last moment, they didnt come up with all things perfectly done like the SuperAmoled FHD and the Exynos..

If samsung knows that S4 will be sold 100000000 in units, i have a great hope that they will come up with a bang.. well just wait, s3 disppoints many people bcoz of its design but still the superAmoled, Exynos, camera and touchwiz made it sell so magical.. hmm

just abt d design, when i first saw the design, i said "what??" but when i saw it on actual, its not bad, above average because it certainly makes me want it to hold always because of its ergonomic shape :D

Part of me thinks that design and materials are irrelevant: as long as there is a good quality screen and amazing hardware powering the software you see, then who really cares about design? At the end of the day, you should be paying for what a device is able to do, and how well it does it, not what it looks like. In my opinion, this is wholly the reason why Samsung Mobile has become so successful today. Since the Galaxy S and Galaxy SII, they have consistently provided the most cutting edge hardware with a well-rounded and customisable software. It certainly hasn’t been design which has won Samsung rave reviews for it’s mobile phones.

well...this is awkward.. Samsung flagship without exynos or amoled...number 4 really is bad luck for Koreans...as far as i know HTC one uses SoLux screen, but I might be wrong...I feel bad for Samsung for not being able to produce FHD AMOLED and Exynos quad or octa for their flagship device, now they don't have anything hardware vise to differentiate them from other manufacturers

SoLux is the only lighting technology in the world able to replicate daylight and render products' colors the way they naturally appear -- images are sharper while colors are brighter and truer when viewed under natural daylight or SoLux. So i think that is backlight or something...

well lets see whats samsung will be offering to us next month...but as of now HTC One is the phone to beat this year in terms of design and specs! the problem on sammy is thier design and materials they used on their phones!CHEAP looking phones its my opinion

Cheapo phones yet they still sell by the millions and outsell HTC's more 'solid' materials by 30 to 1. The material does not maketh the phone, it's the software/usability and updates that do, something which Samsung is actually good at and where HTC fails big time. If the One doesn't save them this year and if they don't have an obligation to their customer by releasing another flagship phone and not bothering to update the One, it pretty much is curtains for them

If those dimensions are true though and it is a square design, then it is WAY too big. I have no problem with LCD or the Qualcomm 600 but the dimensions and size are concerning unless the super thinness makes up for it. I'll reserve judgement though since ergonomics and in hand feel is what allows Samsung to pimp slap HTC and LG every year so I hope they don't drop the ball this badly.

I m fine with the Qualcom 600, especially clocked at 1.9. I just hope they fade away from the overly repetitious "pebble" look and go to a more masculine HTC ONE look with front facing stereo speakers. Just don't call it something cheesy like "Boom Sound" or the like. If anyone has seen the rumored image of the SIV with the front facing speakers with a metallic pewter look... that's the hottest look on a device yet. Combine that with any of the three top processors including Qualcom 600, 800, or any Exynos quad core or above, and you have the best device out! Sing me a song Samsung!!!

That means doing away with Wolfson audio DAC as well, music is very important to a lot of people. I'm sticking with Note 2 and see what Note 3 is gonna offer. I wouldn't mind if they can delay for a month or two to deliver Exynos 5 octa, FHD Super Amoled with diamond RGB, Mali T678, Wolfson Audio DAC, and some nice smooth aluminium or ceramic body.

Please Samsung keep the momentum!

I was against have the Snapdragon but after seeing those HTC One scores I changed my mind. Add 1080p display, keep removable battery, sd card and improve the camera it will be a sure hit.
I'm actually holding out for the Note 3 or Moto X but I love to see nice choices within the Android camp.

Look at the terrible black levels and light bleed WTF??!!! That is a huge step back! They should have just kept the resolution and made it non-pentile e.g. Galaxy Note 2. That would have been incredibly sharp, not to mention fast because it needs to run less pixels.
