Report: LG G3 will be waterproof and dustproof

0. phoneArena 09 Mar 2014, 15:04 posted on

A report out of Korea on Sunday, says that the LG G3 is going to be waterproof and dustproof. This seems to be the new trend for top-shelf Android models which was started with the dunking of the Sony Xperia Z during the 2013 CES show in Las Vegas. Since then, all of Sony's high-end Xperia phones have included the feature, and last year Samsung offered the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active which can withstand being submerged in 3 feet of water for 30 minutes...

But the first high end waterproof smartphone comes from Sony, it's Xperia Acro S, and then Xperia Z. Sony started the waterproof trend in top-shelf smartphones.

Sorry, I'm not a Sony fanboy. I have a Samsung tablet(GNote 10.1 2012), I like the TouchWiz because of it's versatiliy, I like the S-Pen because of it's functionality, I like the camera quality. I also have some dissapointment on samsung. I have a Lumia 620, l like the ui because it's simple, l like the camera quality, but also I have some dissapointment on Nokia because my Lumia 620 still not getting Black update!!! I'm in Asia Pacific region.

What a dumb 'Sony' hater 's', use your mind 's' PapaSmurf & Gangs

Read once again ''This seems to be the new trend for top-shelf Android models which was started with the dunking of the Sony Xperia Z during the 2013 CES show in Las Vegas''

No one said Sony Invented waterproofing, Sony popularized it in its top shelf main stream products. Got it?

Then what about Sammy fan boy 's'? You people always argue that Samsung invented phablet category, and others (Especially Sony, When it comes to LG or HTC you guys don't even spit a word) copying it. Why don't you people ready to accept that before Note 1, there were big screen phones?

Undoubtedly Samsung popularized phablet category, like that Sony did waterproofing flagships.

Please give credit where its due., instead of showing hatred towards particular company.

Yes I'm wrong again, but let me clear this. Xperia Z is available in worldwide, while ELUGA and Optimus G(Japan) is in limited availability, so both of them can't start the waterproof trend.

lets all be subjective about this shall we?

Sony had high end waterproof phones before the LG Optimus GJ (eg Xperia Acros S and Xperia J). im sorry LGisgood, but ur point abt the OGJ is wrong. LG has many first, and undoubtly one of the more innovative brands out there, but LG def wasnt among the first to put waterproofing/dustproofing onto a high end model.

and before yall start the "___ did it first" cr@p on me, does doing stuff first mean u made it mainstream? no, for example:

1) Moto Atrix was probably had the first fingerprint scanner on a phone, but it wasnt until the iPhone 5s did fingerprint scanners become mainstream

2) LG had the first full capacitive touch screen phone but again, it wasnt until the iPhone did this catch on

3) Dell probably had the first phablet with the Streak but it wasn't until the Galaxy Note did phablets boom.

plus, people (tech sites too) always refer to the start of the phablet craze with the Galaxy Note, and not the Streak. Sony might/might not have been the first to start waterproofing and dust proofing phones, but there is no denying that with the Xperia Z, Sony made waterproofing on high end models mainstream. in fact the words Xperia and waterproof literally go hand in hand now.

for once, stop being such butt hurt fanboys

Actually the Moto Defy was NOT high end by any means... it was a Mid Ranger... while the Atrix was the one who was High End, and had almost double the specs...

Defy, 0.8 GHz single core, 512 mb ram, 2 gb storage...
Atrix, 1 GHz dual core, 1 gb ram, 16 gb storage.

First world wide High End android smartphone to be waterproof was Sony Xperia Acro S. which matched (and exceded) their flagship Xperia S specifications...

1.5 GHz dual core, 1gb Ram, 16 gb storage, HD 344ppi screen, 12MP camera... IP55-IP57

So yeah... Sony was the one who indirectly gives you an SGS5 and LGG3 waterproofed...

lol
FYI ;Motorola Atrix IS NOT A WATERPROOF Smartphone! so STOP mentioning it here!

never go away from the main point
"we are talking about a ''WATERPROOF SMARTPHONE" lol

and YES Motorola DEFY was a kind of 2010's HIGH END smartphone IF NOT? STILL A SMARTPHONE!

HOW CAN YOU SAY MOTOROLA DEFY IS A MID RANGE SMARTPHONE?
Please...DON 'T EVER TRY TO COMPARE THE SPECS of present 2014's High end smartphone to Past 2010's High End specs.

was there any other waterproof Smartphone at that time ?
Did Sony Make a Waterproof Smartphone at that time?

FYI Sony Xperia Acro S. DID NOT RELEASE WORLDWIDE!!!!
SONY Acro S was NOT THE Sony's Flagship phone at that time.

technically FUTJITSU

I never said the Atrix was waterproof... I merely stated that the Atrix WAS the flagship, while the Defy WAS the middle class... I was comparing the Atrix / Defy since they both were 2010 phones...

Learn to read...

Sony Xperia Acro S could be found in North America, Asia, Europe and Oceania... so that is almost worldwide... I own it and live in Venezuela... so yeah...

Sony Xperia Acro S was the waterproof version of their flagship! so that makes it a flagship... specially when they didn't leave any feature out...

Sony Ericsson Xperia Active was the one that was made to compete with Motorola Defy... and BOTH of them were middle class phones...

You only write crap without any sense or knowledge...
