There's nothing wrong with that. Tech companies are always hiring people who were part of other companies.

once they done. they will kick their $$$ in cupertino.

29. eDiesel posted on 24 Sep 2012, 11:24 4

Of course. If apple does it... It's okay. But if somebody else did it you would harshly criticize.

Seems like apple's got low standards.
Have a good day.

47. PhoneArenaUser posted on 24 Sep 2012, 11:56 5

Seems that Apple already knew and about build quality problems even before release but they just dont care about that...
So, I agree with you, seems like Apple got low standards.

I believe this is an action worthy of lawsuit ,since these workers would be using googles technology without permission and googles technology is supposed to be pantented .

I believe this move is worthy of a lawsuit since these workers would be using googles technology and secrets without googles permision and also googles technology is supposed to be patented .

Yeah it's how Apple slowly turns their busted Apple Maps into Google Maps. lol

Apple's innovation know no boundary.

75. remixfa posted on 24 Sep 2012, 20:32 6

if you look up "innovation" in the Apple Bible, the definition pops up as "to copy whatever Google is doing.. patent it, and then sue them for it"

83. Lwazi_N posted on 25 Sep 2012, 10:18

I indeed hope Google has their maps patents in order otherwise they'll be in trouble in a few months time... Again.

57. whysoserious posted on 24 Sep 2012, 13:22 9

Judging by the way you bash Android and hail Apple on your other posts, I bet if it was Android doing the same thing with Apple you would rather say something like pathetic google bla bla bla... can't stand on their own this and that... Apple rules!

iFan logic.

Seems that Samsung and Google are two greatest enemies of Apple but Apple still can't survive without them. :)

That's not what the article is saying.

66. Sniggly posted on 24 Sep 2012, 16:54 1 1

Not at all. Samsung seems to be doing just fine despite Apple's decreasing dependence on them, as well as that billion dollar fine.

71. Mxyzptlk posted on 24 Sep 2012, 19:11 1 2

Apple isn't dependent on them.

84. KingKurogiii posted on 25 Sep 2012, 11:59 1

okay then, right now if Samsung severed all ties with Apple do you know what that would mean? no iPhone 5's for a long, long while and in that long, long while vastly superior phones are going crop up hurting Apple's rep and sales severely so yeah, i'd say Samsung has them by the nads if it really came down to it.

86. epdm2be posted on 26 Sep 2012, 14:27 1

@ KingKurogiii: Superior phones have always been around. It doesn't stop punters from buyn these iPhones though.

The fact is Apple IS Samsung and many other ODM's biggest client (for now). And while it could very well be that Apple needs Samsung but Samsung needs Apple too.

Also Samsung doesn't innovate either. They're just mix-and-match industrial brick and mortar shop. They copied the exterior design from Apple, bought the OS from Google and gotten the ARM cpu schematics from ARM Ltd (including the MALI gpu). Where's the innovation in that? Even HTC, LG, Sony and bunch of others do the same.

Sony and HTC at least try to add something unique to their designs. I loved the NXT series from Sony and just don't understand why they don't continue further with that?

I dislike Samsung as much as I dislike Apple. Far all I care, all this superficial competetition between them is IMHO just a plot keep consumers attention to these 2 companies and destroy everyone else.

With a capital I.

This is too funny really....dump Google Maps to make your own Maps app....it launches with numerous location errors......and now you wanna hire folks from Google to help.

I am literally shaking my head right now...

5. Savage posted on 24 Sep 2012, 10:43 9

87. epdm2be posted on 26 Sep 2012, 14:40

A real genius just paid that bloody licence fee again for another 4 years... or by another license by somebody else e.g. Nokia or Route 66 which samsung licenses for their (bada) products

In fact there are other players around for far longer than google and with much better navigation solutions (Garmin, navigon, tomtom etc...)

7. vddeguzman posted on 24 Sep 2012, 10:51 4

For some reason it gives me pleasure to laugh at my friends' dilemma on the new apple maps. But i guess it takes more than maps to persuade them to join the android bandwagon. Anyway, the easiest way out of this is that Apple scraps their maps and just use Google's. Simple, less painful, likely cheaper than investing on manhours to fix their crappy maps.

88. epdm2be posted on 26 Sep 2012, 14:41 1

oh dear. there is more in the world than Apple and Samsung. There's more around than iOS and Android.

91. vddeguzman posted on 27 Sep 2012, 17:59

Im not sure if your comment is relevant to the topic. And dont call android just samsung, android is a platform not a phone brand. I never mentioned samsung in my comment above, so im not sure where your "there's more in the world than apple and samsung".

So i suggest that you start your own thread rather than putting up a reply not related to what i said.

8. darktranquillity posted on 24 Sep 2012, 10:51 8

And apple says that android copied ios. Hypocrites!

9. The_Innovation posted on 24 Sep 2012, 10:53 7

They should get hired and infiltrate, making it worse lol.

10. SlimSoulja86 posted on 24 Sep 2012, 10:53 4

I have this feeling that Steve Jobs just died at the right time, to shift the blame of Apple going down on Tim Cook. Not trying to be insensitive here or anything. But just a feeling. So Apple's stocks are going higher while the company seems to be going low on what is more important to its customers, Technology and Innovation.

15. Mxyzptlk posted on 24 Sep 2012, 11:03 8

You know Google Maps wasn't perfect when it was released right?

17. KingKurogiii posted on 24 Sep 2012, 11:08 6

yes it was.

19. Savage posted on 24 Sep 2012, 11:10 7

Yes but Google tells us it is Beta. Infact, their maps are still in Beta and work amazingly.
About Apple's, They never said their Maps were incomplete BEFORE people and reviewers started raising flaws in it.

21. PapaSmurf posted on 24 Sep 2012, 11:11 3

Just like Siri. It takes a whole year for Siri to get out of the "beta" stage.

22. Savage posted on 24 Sep 2012, 11:13 3

Uhhh, nope! It still isn't out of Beta. It just learnt a couple of languages, learnt a thing or two about movies and sports. That's it. It'll be out of Beta when it tells you ANYTHING you ask it.

24. PapaSmurf posted on 24 Sep 2012, 11:16 3

So basically like Google Now? Mxz, are you taking notes?

28. MartyK posted on 24 Sep 2012, 11:22 2

But Google didn't run and grab / BEG some ex-Apple employee to help them out...hahahha

38. Aeires (unregistered) posted on 24 Sep 2012, 11:38 1

iFan who totally missed the point. If Apple wasn't using another map source previously, it wouldn't be getting slammed with the negative publicity. But because they outed a perfectly good working map source for their own, they deserve what they get.

Doing things in house is fine, but make sure you get your own product working to an acceptable level before cutting off a customer base who relies on the outside product.

60. Berzerk000 posted on 24 Sep 2012, 14:19 1

But at least when Google releases a product that is sub-par, they are good enough to admit it's in beta and needs work. Meanwhile, Apple hands out what seems to be a fully developed product that ends up being trash.

63. jroc74 posted on 24 Sep 2012, 16:10

Maybe not....but it was better than what Apple threw out there.

And besides...with map apps being around for years.....you would think theirs woulda been a lil better.

72. Zero0 posted on 24 Sep 2012, 19:13 2

Irrelevant.

You do not buy a product based on the possibility that it might be competitive months or years away.
You purchase based on what is the best product NOW. Right now, Google Maps is better than Apple Maps. End of story.

Firefox OS isn't perfect, and it's new, but I bet you're not giving that a free pass.

18. KingKurogiii posted on 24 Sep 2012, 11:09 2

*scoffs* THE NERVE! ;p

23. lyndon420 posted on 24 Sep 2012, 11:15 1 1

Now...this is funny. Here's to hoping they can't fill the position(s).

30. JeffdaBeat posted on 24 Sep 2012, 11:25 2 2

I don't care who they hire...just make Apple Maps work. I didn't expect it to be perfect, but I didn't expect it to be terrible either. This is one thing that I don't think Steve would have let fly. He hated Google, but he (usually) wouldn't let a product go if it didn't work. Remember his reaction to MobileMe...

42. Droid_X_Doug posted on 24 Sep 2012, 11:42 1

"Remember his reaction to MobileMe..."

I suspect there won't be a similar outcome - for 2 reasons, 1.) Steve is all gone, and 2.) there is no project leader for iMaps (the spot is vacant, as the person bailed when they saw what a perfidious lash-up iMaps had become).

34. iGREGG posted on 24 Sep 2012, 11:34 5

as a APPLE LOYALIST i'd perfer them get peoplethat KNOW what they are doing and can make sure that my MAP APP is working as its supposed to ...

90. iGREGG posted on 27 Sep 2012, 11:16

i didnt say anythign to negate GOOGLE. ..if u READ it the right way you'll see that im saying that its GOOD the Apple is trying to makethe app better.. i LOVED GOOGLE MApS

54. willard12 posted on 24 Sep 2012, 13:05 5

Or...they could just bring Google Maps back. Wouldn't that be better for their consumers? Instead, Apple puts its own interest ahead of customers. Apple is so willing to "slavishly" copy Google that it hires for Google Maps developers.
