Report: Apple looking for new CEO
0. phoneArena 21 Apr 2013, 17:26 posted on
According to Wall Street sources, current Apple CEO Tim Cook is on the hot seat at Apple with some suggesting that the Cupertino based firm is looking for a new leader; with several big funds already sharply paring their Apple holdings, the pressure is on Cook to turn things around now or else face the wrath of the board...

Good idea but thats not going to happen seeing as Sir Ive would seem like a probable choice. I knew this was going to happen as Tim Cook has always been a bean counter at Apple. Thats not to say that a guy like him can't be CEO but they generally don't take risks.

Ive is a designer, not a business man. He said in an interview he was horrible at running a business but loved to design.

He took design from brAun. So he is not a designer either.

Woz would probably make ios a lot more like android.

When he took that picture with all the folks at Google after buying the Nexus over a year ago that was the moment when I had respect for him. He actually cares about technology. Tom Cook is only CEO because Steve had no other option since he was dying. Tim has had no original ideas and he is riding off of Steve's coat tails. Tim is book smart while Steve and Woz had imagination and heart.

Even I can get behind that.

No need of Woz™
No need for a company like Apple™

I 100% agree. He is one of the the only Apple visionaries that can see the good in other products. Try asking any of the current Apple senior members to say something good about Android and I bet they would look at you like your crazy. They even brain washed many of their followers but it's starting to change. Even this website feels like it's HTC vs Samsung instead of iPhone vs Android. Apple has lost it and the only thing they can hold onto is their ecosystem.
A low priced iPhone? Did Apple forget how to make a high end device? When the retina display came out it was the best display on a phone. Today the iPhone can't match the Android heavyweights and a iPhone 5s with fingerprint scanner will not change that. Guess we will have to wait till next year.

Id love to see the woz in charge of Apple now and really change how apple is run, but there are too many idiots out there that most likely wont let that happen. they'll get another moron who will sit there and sue every OEM out there and wont do anything innovative.

Somehow, I suspect even an ex-CEO of Samsung wouldn't fare much better. Apple's board of directors has a bit of a history of eating its young. They threw Jobs out and then went through a succession of pretender CEOs. Finally after having driven the company to its knees, they bring Steve back to save themselves from themselves. Now Steve is gone and the pattern is repeating itself.
Maybe the Apple board of directors are the ones who should be fired?

No one can and will run Apple the way Jobs did. He didn't have the greatest reputation in the mobile tech world, but he damn well knew how to run Apple.

As much as I dislike apple, I have to admit Steve Jobs was a marketing genius.
24. quakan (Posts: 1285; Member since: 02 Mar 2011)
Well Tim Cook was responsible for Apple's supply chain for being as well as it is. So Tim may not be a better CEO than Steve was but there's a reason he was next line.

If he steps down as CEO or is forced to, he'll remain with the company. He was very good at his former position, which is why he was chosen as CEO in the first place
35. tbacba (Posts: 69; Member since: 31 Mar 2010)
I don't. I can't imagine any CEO bring booted from a company and sticking around in a lesser position. These guys never want to lose face.
71. Aeires (unregistered)
Don't know. He's the CEO but isn't even making the most money at Apple. As a supply chain guru, there's been plenty of supply chain problems since he took over as CEO. If he's forced to step down, I'd bet he'd be gone completely.

Makes no diffrent between Steve Job and Tim Cook, they have the same theory!
Bringing the same phone and same booring with restrictead OS, over and over again™
There are no evolution nor revolution on there products or brand!
Just a Apple logo stamped with low feautres with a high price midrange phone™

Don't know why more people aren't agreeing. Apple is doing what it's been doing for so long, only this time the competition has caught on and is now well ahead. Stock holders know Apple will now have to compete by lowering prices and lowering their profit margins.
Anyone in the know knows Apple will fall to android, no they won't die, they just will not as rich as they could be if android didn't exist.

Some that can bring about overall change should be eligible.
Why not let candidates render their own new concept of Apple devices?? :P

First, we'll open everything up. Side loading will be allowed. We will go with industry standards, like micro usb and 720/1080p. We will build true multitasking and adaptive resolution into iOS. We will offer several different sizes of iPhone. Macs will become a side burner, as PCs are on the downside. Drop the iWatch, but concentrate on an iTV.
When do I start?
8. KFear (Posts: 139; Member since: 06 Feb 2012)
It will be interesting to see how new leadership will steer the company, and into what direction? An iwatch is NOT the solution. Someone needs to think of new ideas while keeping perfection simple. I think we will see a lot of failed products until they find something huge that all the apple crazed people will surely be allll over. I just can't even think about what direction they should go in besides expanding IOS into a more personalized experience.

Can't blame him until 5S/6. 4S/5 and possibly 5S are still under Job's designs.
66. roscuthiii (Posts: 1949; Member since: 18 Jul 2010)
That's something most people overlook... Apple, and the rest of these companies too for that matter, don't just wait for opening day sales of a product to start designing the successor. It's all in the pipe well in advance. The current crop of products people are saying have gone stale were all fleshed out long ago.

it will never be the same for apple,.spiraling down hope they find someone better..
11. jaymulli (Posts: 20; Member since: 09 Apr 2013)
Tim Cook just isnt a leader he is great at business but when it comes to creativity and innovation it just isnt there i think its a good idea to bring in somebody that can be at the top and judge whether something will truly work like steve jobs did, and i wouldnt be surprised to see jony ive up for it, he has that little bit of steve jobs in him.
17. itreday (Posts: 68; Member since: 24 May 2012)
In case you guys didn't know, the iPhone 5 was completely made by the late Steve Jobs, and so will be the next devices unless they scrap the ideas. Steve Jobs planned 5 years ahead before he died..

When Android is "cooked" it means positive. When we say Apple has been "cooked" it means hell negative.
23. darkkjedii (Posts: 15623; Member since: 05 Feb 2011)
This is a shocker. Big business at work I guess...
25. jroc74 (Posts: 5536; Member since: 30 Dec 2010)
I think like some users and fans......investors and analyst put Apple on too high of a pedestal. Investors and analyst are complaining, and yet I can name a handful of companies real quick that wish they could have iPhone, iPad sales and Apple's stock, market value.
That said...if this turns out to be true......."you reap what you sow"...
31. jroc74 (Posts: 5536; Member since: 30 Dec 2010)
I will file this rumor under pics or it didnt happen...lol. Some ppl might just have higher than high expectations of Apple.
Crazy indeed. Might be time for Apple to step away from the lime light, all the attention. This is part of what worries me about Google, Samsung, Android as a whole... what goes up must come down. I dont want Android to get too popular.
34. darkkjedii (Posts: 15623; Member since: 05 Feb 2011)
I see your point. This is gonna be an interesting year for apple.

For me its woz #1
Woz is such a great Tec guy. Don't know how he would be as CEO but he should be involved with something at apple.
Forstall is the most like jobs.
Ive is a visionary alot like jobs was.
That my top 3

Noone can fill the shoes of Steve Jobs...its not Tims fault. Just bad timing and Apple not listening to its customers.
43. Slammer (Posts: 1422; Member since: 03 Jun 2010)
This is the truth in reality.
Apple was built around Steve Jobs. He was Apple. History has proven that no other could captain Apple as he could. Apple worked around Steve's vision. When he was segregated from Apple, it faltered under all others. Thirty years of existence of Apple has the best years being led by him. Ousting Tim is not the answer. Apple's DNA is thirty years planted and only Steve knew how to manipulate this.
Apple will retain a foundation for years to come. But, it will have to work much harder to maintain interest from consumers. Just as it tried with our generation. It will not be just about pretty things anymore. Jony Ive is a hardware designer, not a software engineer. Apple must rely on intuitive innovation rather than patenting things that may never come to fruition.

There's nothing wrong with the job Tim Cook has been doing. They need to leave him in place and dump the 5 year plan Steve Jobs had in place after his death. That worked for HIM, but no one can connivence people to buy the exact same phone 5 years in a row except for SJ. Bringing Woz on board would be cool, but Cook should stay.
