Its nice to see that RR3 is coming soon but I dislike this idea of a freemium app with IAP...
price it $5 and get rid of in-app purchases that are needed to complete the game...

Yeah but it wouldn't be profitable, sadly.
People would pirate the heck out of it

This is freaking awesome.. can't wait!
A truly and fully AAA racing game with a revolutionary multiplayer mode.
I have really enjoyed Real Racing 2 and still play it almost every week, trying to improve my times.
But it'll have to go now and make place for this on my phone.

Is there a catch? as in free free? really?

The catch is in in app purchases.
But I hope they make them dirt cheap - with some hundred million downloads across two platforms, it could pay off for EA.
This is the second massive game (with the Blitz Brigade from Gameloft) in a week that goes for free.
Android and iOS are starting a revolution here actually

Probably theyre going to cripple your uncompetitive free car .... leaving you no choice but to buy for upgrades and stuff to unlock further levels

No such thing as free when the experience is crippled out the box with mandatory in app purchases. Since so many people jailbreak/side load why not make it free?

Every single smartphone driving game that relies on accelerometer steering is wonky! Hope they've fixed that. Plus, give us a pay up front option-freemium has that extra layer of annoyance that causes me 2 uninstall EVERY TIME.

I'd rather pay the 4.99 for the complete game add free. Freemium games generally charge way more over the space of a game to progress rather than a once off.
Glu are particularly guilty of massive money grabbing through freemium, and glu game takes continual money input to get anywhere reasonably far,I try to avoid Glu games at all cost because of this

Yea, not a fan of this model. However, I dont mind throwing in a couple bucks here or there to games that have GOOD free 2 play models, such as the recent Temple Run 2. Its solely a skill based game, and purchases only will get you a faster route to progress. I havent spent a cent on it yet and I've just about maxed everything in the game. When Im done I will throw em a couple bucks because I like THAT type of free 2 play model.
