RadioShack to sell subsidized laptop with wireless broadband?
In what would be a first in the United States, it appears as if RadioShack is gearing up to subsidize an Acer Aspire One netbook in conjunction with AT&T. The laptop would be $99 with a $60/month data commitment from the wireless carrier, which easily tallies up to almost $1500 over a two year contract term. Of course, the internet plan is always optional; one can buy the computer without the subsidy for $500.

Should the laptop be the one shown in the advertisement, it will come with an Intel Atom processor, 1GB of RAM, 160GB hard drive, Windows XP Home Edition, 802.11b/g wireless, and a built-in webcam. If you were planning on getting a wireless aircard, this may be something to consider, although we hope that the International concept will make its way to some of the larger notebooks in the U.S.
