might make BBM actually relevant. Because closed wall messengers are just a bad idea.

*Insert evil laughter*
will finally have the most popular mobile messenger o the palm of any hands
if they had a brighter mind they could sell the service to non blackberry devices for a annual fee that could easily go from $5-$10 and will sell thousands

Didn't BB used to allow Nokia to do this? It was called Blackberry Connect, if I am not mistaken.

How about instead of making BBM compatable on all phones, RIM just makes a phone worth having and isn't 5 years out of date..

if bbm was to go to any other platform blackberry will run out of business. the only reason why i have a bb is because of the bbm. if andriod device start supporting the bbm im def. getting an andriod phone and leaving blackberry.

Rim will do OK by this merger, but the blackberry logo will soon be a thing of the past.

This sounds useless to me, ok so I can get a text from someone using a BB....wait I can anyways without the app.

well rim wont do tat coz no one will buy a bb then..but it can play a smartmove by providing bbm lite service to android and apple phones for more money as subscription compared to bb users

that's because RIM want their Playbook can use 1 single account for BBM, so your single account can use at your Blackberry handheld device and Blackberry Playbook without changing anything. So you can have or uses 2 gadget or more with 1 BBM single account.
