Its a matter of fact that people dont have brains of their own and get caught up on trends. Blackberry was the hot phone 4 years ago, when mobile email was all the rave and people didnt care about apps. Now that apps are all the rave, people blast Blackberry, when its a fact that many people aren't aware that Blackberry phones version 5 and above have access to Blackberry App World to download lots of apps to their phone.

Its just a matter of people not having braincells inside their actual brain, and their brain just being an empty goo that doesn't get any actual use. And really, who would be embarrased about their cellphone and yet can afford an ipad? Priorities not straight much? If you didnt like your phone, you should have paid for a PHONE instead of an Ipad that your stupid brain didnt need and still doesnt.

Blackberry phones are just fine, they are functional and have a good form factor and are pretty easy to use. There is nothing wrong with them. They aren't as exciting as Android or Iphone granted, since the specs tend to be lower and not as good a variety in apps, but its certainly nothing to be embarassed about. Its worlds better than having a feature phone or a home phone, so its not worth complaining about if you have one and dont like it. And if it was between having to choose a low end android vs a BB7 curve or something, I would go the curve, because it would be a lot more reliable than the low end android would be. Fo

The "India and Africa" line seemed a little contemptuous. BB is still strong in Latin America as well. Maybe we are weak markets now but eventually...

Blackberry 10 devices will bring a whole new meaning to the BlackBerry name. Phones will nice hardware to run the very same games and apps as on both IOS and Android. With a fresh new look and interface, it will be a major upgrade for Rim. I don't see why so many Rim haters in this article, if you don't like Rim and Blackberry, then that's fine. But lets not forget how Blackberry phones have helped push Apple and Google to make the iPhone and android devices we have today. Once Rim releases BB10, it will break down the phone catagory. Apple for the teens, Android for users who want choice, and blackberry for business and organized people. That's my take on it.

WOW I can make a blanket statement too. The NYT has crappy people working there. On the real where i work I see a few Black Berry devices still in use. One of my project leads swears by his Black Berry. He is interested in Windows Phone but he's not ashamed of his current device. Why should anyone be? It's not the N-Gage! ;)

I think its easy for people to kick someone when they are down or not as "hyped" about as others. But I think it is much more difficult to recognize something special and give that special attention. The Blackberry platform is a great platform that has been plauged by poor management and poor choices. The new guy seems like he understands what the future is and in the meantime has to take a serious amount of flack and bad press as CEO. It takes someone who really believes in something to stick around when it seems like everything is going down. It is also very easy for someone else to criticize without going through it themselves.

I've never been a 'Berry user though I prefer physical keyboards (I started with Treos, and currently have 2 slider keyboard phones), but I've known heavy texters who think they're great for their personal use. I find it amusing that you can usually spot the posts from those typing on glass - no caps, no punctuation, and frequently full of typos and poor spelling.

Yes, I have used Android, iOS, WP and Bb devices. To say Bb is antiquated and "behind the curve" is just arrogant. I have a Bold 9930 and have thought hard about switching to the "latest and greatest" iPhone 5 or SG3. Well, those latest and greatest devices are horrible for MY needs.

My phone came to my rescue when I needed to work with my real estate agent and bank on a home purchase. I can't access my personal email account at work, so my phone was the only solution. I spent most of the day on the phone, cranking out long emails, text messages, saving files so I can print it from my work computer (thank goodness for the file system), forwarding PDF files to various people, etc.

There were numerous times where I needed to swap out the battery with my spare because I was on the road and didn't have access to a charging outlet. Yes, I have a car charger. But using the hotspot service and sending tons of texts/emails would drain any battery quickly.

Bb's keyboard and file system keeps me productive. Because I can DO lots of stuff with it. I'm near the point where I can type without having to look at the keyboard.

Try typing a message on your all touchscreen phone without looking up and down at the virtual keyboard? lol

and torch even made of plastic too and the price tag somehow was UNBELIEVABLE unbalanced. we got more for only IDR 6.000.000 than to PAID FOR IDR 5.000.000. The DIFFERENCE of price tag JUST IDR 1.000.000 but THE DIFFERENCE OF THE SPECS AND FUN(C)TIONALITY WAS JUST LIKE HEAVEN AND EARTH!!!

I think all the smartphone manufacture SHOULD begin to add physical keyboard, so we can do texting, editing (with d-pad is alot of easier than thumbs/fingering between words/letters) and even gaming. I notice, touch controlled game are less fun (and even get frustating) than having physical d-pad and buttons.

but when we talk about BlackBerry, yes, it is main purpose when compared to the competitors old days, is their e-mail and messenger services with cheaper datas payment. but, now, as all the provider had their own unlimited/limited data service, BB has loose for its cheaper data payment. For IDR 50K, i can only get RIM BIS for browse, downloading email and social, to download movie, mp3s and streaming for flv movie, i MUST pay more for activate the service. but wit android/java phones/symbian phones/iOS for IDR 50K i can have unlimited (fair usage) data plan 500MB-2GB to use up to to the internet things.

i'm not shame to show up my BlackBerry if i had one, but SURELY, i'm won't using it as my primary activity for internet, but just for it's BBM

I hope the best for RIM and their Blackberry brand. They used to be such a strong company, but now their struggling it seems. What I think they need is a highend device, touchscreen with their BB qwerty (maybe a vertical slider?) and a huge battery. I think it could even benefit with a stylus like the Galaxy Note. Then market the device showing it's strengths, let people know your still here and your still awesome.

Blackberry is good but not better than iOS or android right now...but rim is improving unlike the iOS wich is really the same for the past few years..here in my country BB phone is expensive... and android phone users is really huge..most of their phone are now samsung replacing their nokia phones.. and BTW i am am android fan and a xperia user

atleast you use a BlackBerry coz you see it UNIQUE now! only few (but in my country...a LOT) use them...

unlike samsung or android... very common.. you look like a set of dolls! no uniqueness!

I don't feel sorry for RIM. Forget BB10. They made no attempt to improve the hardware on there phones. You mean they could no have put a bigger screen, better browser, better processor on there BB7 phones. They thought people would be happy with there BBM and email security and would not want better hardware on there phones. Wrong.
