the nexus 5 seems more natural while the 5s looks yellowish, they both seem equally sharp though

Hmm... Tough call, most of the samples looked almost identical. But from other photo comparisons between them it shows Nexus 5 as a clear winner.

I would like to see some DSLR photos to compare, but from what I see above, N5>>>>>>>>>>>>>iP5s in the camera department. Especially with that horrendous flower photo.

Both pics came out good, but still prefer kitkat phone:)

Bottom line is, the Nexus 5 camera DOES NOT suk!

Thats a win in my book.

Good call. That is what held me back from the N4 (and it's fragile hull).

This. The sensor seems to be superb for a 8MP shooter while the driver and camera SW needs some work cause some shots are great, others are off-focus and bad color'd.

They look pretty even, though I thought the Nexus won the Flower and Bicycle pic. The iPhone 5S won the rest. Plus it's tough to judge because they aren't taken at the same "exact" angle from the same "exact" distance.

More has to do with how wide the viewing angle is with each phone

Which is insane because the iPhone 5S camera is astonishingly good for a phone camera. This makes me happy. Good work Google.

Besides the house pic and the stack of games pic the Nexus wins but only barely. In those two pics the iPhone 5 destroys the Nexus.

That said I don't give a crap about the camera.

Good :) Why a lot of comparisons :(

I just need my Nexus 5 to take good photos :) , Anyways I will always go for a Nexus [ considering the other perks] Hence does not matter if its better or worse than some in the market. It just needs to take good photos.

With the Nexus 5 samples only, I believe it captures nicely :)

I am getting mine tomorrow !

In low light condition (bike) and flower Nexus 5 seemed better. Other photos, iphone 5s. I'm no photographer, just noob opinion.

Funny is, that reading its review on The Verge is like asking to Cook how's the new Nexus...5 to Camera :)

Btw, first impression is good, dunno if there were issues or shutter lag with photos?

This camera test is a joke there were different angles and zoom distances and that makes the image change the light and color intensity. The only thing I can say that I would think is fair to conclude is that the iPhone 5s camera is very inconsistent with its color intensities, the flower for example looks Totally over saturated while the green leaves in the same shot look dull while on the Nexus 5 the whole shot is vibrant, the flower plus the leaves.

The only thing I hated about the Nexus 4 was the camera. It looks like Google [and LG] got the camera right this time.

I think the great thing here is that we finally have a nexus phone with a great camera. It matched the s4 and beat in certain cases and is close to the iPhone 5s and beat in some pics as well! All this for a great price if you are in a Google play store area that is!

100% agree with you! It´s not about if it has a BETTER camera than the iphone 5S. The thing is if you can ever start a discussion of which one is better (and from those pictores it´s hard to tell for me) then the camera is already quite good. Good enough for me for sure.

The colors produced by the Nexus 5 seem a little off at times in the few camera comparisons I've seen

The Nexus 5 camera shots have been all over the freaking place. I'm guessing this is an amazing camera with kinda crappy software. Just have to download one of the many excellent camera apps out there. It was a similar issue with the Nexus 4. Google just doesn't put the resources towards the camera app. Fortunately, it doesn't matter because of all the great options in the play store.

I would definitely say that the Nexus outperformed (or put out performance equal to) the iPhone.

Think both cameras are about even, the Lg seems to do better in low light (picture 9). Played with the LG today, shows a plastic doesn't necessarily mean cheap feeling. Weird how this phones costs way less than an s4 but still manages to feel more premium. Pretty quick phone, fore a moment I forgot I was using an android phone. Yes, didn't spot any lag. Think my iphone 5 can take a back seat now.

Phonearena, from now on please do these as a poll with the inclusion of a professional pic as a reference. This way all the fantards will vote and see if their "side" is really as good as they thought it was.

Never thought I would see the day that a Nexus camera beats the iPhone. Great job LG and Google. The iPhone's camera is no slouch by any means, but the Nexus 5 took this one.
