Qualcomm to introduce Snapdragon 660 SoC on May 9th?
According to a report out of China, Qualcomm will introduce a new chipset on May 9th. Called the Snapdragon 660, the SoC is built using the 14nm process and should find its way inside mid-to-high-end handsets. According to recent speculation, the chip will power the new dual-camera Samsung Galaxy C handset we told you about yesterday. Other phones that are rumored to employ the Snapdragon 660 include the Xiaomi Redmi Pro 2, Xiaomi Mi Max 2, Oppo R11, Vivo X9s Plus and the Nokia 7 and Nokia 8.

For heavy duty tasks, the Snapdragon 660 chipset will count on four Cortex-A73 cores running at a clock speed of 2.3GHz. For light housekeeping, there are four Cortex-A53 cores running at a clock speed of 1.9GHz. The SoC carries the Adreno 512 GPU, and the X10 LTE modem is included as is support for Quick Charge 4.0. The Snapdragon 660 chipset is equipped with two channels for LPDDR4X 1866 MHz RAM, and it also can handle UFS 2.1 flash memory.

Qualcomm's current high-end chipset is the Snapdragon 835. Built using the 10nm process, this SoC can be found inside the Samsung Galaxy S8 and the Samsung Galaxy S8+. It also is rumored to be under the hood of the upcoming HTC U 11, and the unannounced OnePlus 5.
