wowowowow... that pinch to zoom on Intel's is horrible!! Even my good-old HTC Wildfire is way better beyond that!
But hey... its just a qualcom commercial... we'll wait and see

But to be fair both phones should have been on the same version.

Well the snapdragon s3 isn't a big leap from the snapdragon s2 anyway
Qualcomm , if you have testis compare the arc s against the Motorola razr I
Not bullying a intel reference device with a finished product
Show me your balls Qualcomm

Since Snapdragon is the most popular processor around in the smartphone world, it makes sense that most apps are optimized for it thus better experience. If software is poorly optimized for a hardware you will have various bugs and poor experience. For example the latest PC Port Dark Soul, where fans are trying hard optimizing it with mods and patches.
That is why i always say it useless to bitch about Qualcomm and Praise Exynos like a blind fanatic. Exynos is surely very powerful but also less popular than Qualcomm.
You are getting apps optimized for your hardware, just be happy to have pleasant user experience. That's all you need to care, your phone get your job done, that's it.

This commercial has way too many variables in order to be reliable.

You know what's funny? An Android phone with S4 dual core processor STILL can't pinch to zoom with 100% lag free!
It is already there on Windows Phone 7 with S2 processor LOL
9. Berzerk000 posted on 21 Sep 2012, 04:33 6 3
My GS2 with an S3 processor, which is being called one of the worst dual-cores, can pinch to zoom 100% lag free... So I doubt the legitimacy of your statement.
12. StephenGalop posted on 21 Sep 2012, 04:36 0 9
Since when GS2 had S3, nice try but you got it wrong fanboy..

The US version has an S3 for HSPA+ 42 and LTE compatibility, which the Exynos 4210 was not capable of. The S3 processor is found in the T-Mobile and a special AT&T version of the GS2. Don't call me a fanboy, that's kind of not true.

'Android', look at the lag when the guy tries to scroll down on the S4 processor..

That was the Sony Ericsson Arc with an S2 processor they were using in the demonstration, not an S4. That's why in end of the video they said that the competition is 3 years behind, because the S2 is 3 years old...
28. smallworld posted on 21 Sep 2012, 11:15 0 1
S2 is 2 years old.

Well, even if flawed, the video most definitely hints at the true point out there - that Intel's newest is a bad joke compared to Qualcomm's newest ;)
Medfield is an ancient tech next to Snapdragon quad core with Adreno 320
25. remixfa posted on 21 Sep 2012, 06:04 1 1
its a first generation chip. Its bound to suck. Intel is trying to squeeze big x86 tech into an ARM playing field. This isnt the first time they have tried that... and they have failed every time.
37. Berzerk000 posted on 21 Sep 2012, 16:26 0 0
This is Intel's first chip in the mobile industry... Comparing it to the S4 Pro quad would be like comparing the Tegra 650 to the Exynos 4412, it just doesn't work.
Now, for the Razr-i, they did a pretty good job. It scored close to its S4 brother (Razr M) in most benchmarks, despite being a single-core chip. Also, the fact that it can be clocked up to 2 GHz is amazing, while the quad S4 Pro can only be at a max of 1.7 GHz if I'm not mistaken.
Give Intel a year or two to advance, they'll be a major competitor soon enough.

LOL @ the dumbass Android hater who didnt even know the US GS2 had a S3 CPU! The US Samsung S2s and S3s use Snapdragon CPUs, its a well known fact! Quit spewing your garbage here.
Anyway my Exynos based GS2 on 4.0.4 pinchs-to-zoom lag free in its built-in browser, Chrome, Dolphin and Opera Mini, thanks. :)

I call shenanigans.
What S2 device had OFFICIAL upgrade to ICS/JB? That phone was tweaked to all hell and back and there is no telling what version of software was on the medfield.
That said, I figured the medfield would be a disaster for at least a generation or 2, so that's no surprise. If it cant hang with an S2 crapdragon, which is a bad chip in comparison to that generation's Hummingbird, then it has issues... big issues.
That said, I ran the new velamo2 benchmark on my SGS1 running ICS (single core hummingbird) and my LG-Gslate running JB (dual core tegra2) and the SGS1 spanked the crap out of it. I figured it would be close.. it wasnt that close.

Facepalm..
XPERIA ARC/ARC S IS OFFICIALLY UPGRADED TO ICS.
And I can assure you that it works just as smooth as in this video even on stock gingerbread.
I own one.
34. remixfa posted on 21 Sep 2012, 13:30 0 0
oh calm down. I didnt check its update history. So that makes what.. 2 phones with single core and official ICS updates? lol
My SGS1 runs pretty damn flawlessly with ICS and its a single core with 512mb ram as well, so i dont doubt that it can happen. My SGS1 with ICS rom outscores my T2 based JB Rom'ed tablet on benchmarks.
35. darac posted on 21 Sep 2012, 14:06 0 0
ya, i got that..your point?
i've no beef with that :p
Hummingbird rocks
my beef was with your accusation based on ignorance. snapdragon S2 can run just fine, and the video was credible in that regard.
26. Feregorn posted on 21 Sep 2012, 06:57 1 0
Well, well....Seems like Qualcomm feels trheatened enough by the behemoth Intel entering this market, that needed to push out a video with a beta competitive unit, that hasn't been on the market yet, to prove what? The future holds the answer boys, and the people at Qualcomm sure ain't relaxed...
27. ahhxd717 posted on 21 Sep 2012, 09:13 0 0
Hmmm, I wonder what OS version they're using on the handsets. In my experience, My Inspire 4g (which had a Snapdragon S2) wasn't super slow and anything like that in day to day use. Web browsing wasn't bad either, with pinch to zoom operating similarly to the video (maybe a little less smooth). But it also was running Froyo/Gingerbread so I think it's pretty good. Idk why it gets the crap that it does, considering it is from 2010.
32. Kronic (banned) posted on 21 Sep 2012, 13:20 0 0
So crapdragon doing well huh? Impressive I must say, the pinch to zoom seemed as fluid as WP and iOS!
36. darac posted on 21 Sep 2012, 14:12 0 0
Where did you fell from?
This isn't even a new "crapdragon" - it's an OLD single core!.
And the irony.. the pinching/scrolling actions actually looked sub-par, based on my experience with the Xperia Arc.
But then again, i use Opera mini and Dolphin - it works buttery smooth, especially on Opera.
