this is getting rediculous now. android started well by introducing a few rules to its OS (ICS) but the faster things move the more of a detterent it will be for devs to make apps. I can understand now, why the iphone has such amazing apps and dev following. there are 20 different screen types, 50 different processors and gpu's and 6 different sizes of screens to dev for in android.

I love my sgs2 but im curious what the new iphone 5 will have to offer for these reasons.

i couldnt have put it better myself! Even with android i enjoy flashing for the first little while but that gets boring and tedious. Might be returning to the iphone but im afraid ill get seriously bored!

The only sure thing with iPhone5/4s is that it they wont have "the ability to create diamonds out of thin air.* which an S4 powered device will be capable of. . . ;-)

Please enlighten me as to what we could possibly need to do on our phones to actually need to harness all of this power. Dual cores... fair enough, but quad cores are kind of jumping the shark.

in order to have something that can harness that power, they need to first have the tools availible for the masses, otherwise no developer will make anything for it.

We are just now starting to see the leap in app quality from developers making dual core optimized apps. When Quad cores launch, you will see another leap in quality.

Remember, electronics are tested and developed 2-4+ years ahead of when they are launched to the public. We may not be able to see all the pieces of the puzzle as to why we need that horsepower. Windows 8 tablet NEEDS that horsepower to be win7 compatable. Who knows what Android 5.0 will be able to do. These chips also wont be common till mid to late 2012, so its not like its going to be tomorrow.

Why are they trying to get to quad core so fast instead focus on dual core chips it just barely came out! They need to improve dual core chips because they are not even at full potential yet also how is the battery life going to be with a quad core chip

if you believe some of the preliminary reports, exponentially better. they are based on smaller chip designs which use much less power, and when your doing something basic like texting it will turn off 3 of the 4 cores to save even more. all 4 cores wont be on at all times unless needed

expect chips of this power to feature in iphones in 2015 and they will change everything again

maybe crisis 1.. in low res mode.. lol Probably have to wait for quad cores to mature before we get to really answer that question. :)
