Quad-core smartphones to ship this quarter says NVIDIA's CEO

What company would be in a better position than NVIDIA to proclaim that quad-core powered smartphones will be shipped as early as this quarter; the good news is this means that some of models to be displayed at MWC will be ready for an actual launch no later than a month after the show...

Graphics wise the Nvidia Tegra 2 and Tegra 3 are fantastic, but I gotta give my love to the Exynos processor. Very curious to see the next generation in the Galaxy S III :)

Nvidia might have quad cores (and unfortunately based on the old A9 architecture) in phones this quarter and will probably beat Samsung to market, but what they won't have is superior hardware backing up the extra speed - eg Super Amoled HD screens, etc..
I remember when all the hype was about over the Tegra II in the Motorola Atrix (the best phone of CES.. WTF?), I jumped and bought one, only to be massively underwhelmed by it both by screen and poor CPU performance. Rubbing salt into the wounds, a few months later, Samsung released the SGSII which was far superior.
So, learning from the mistakes of 2011, I think I'll wait for Samsung to release their Exynos Quad core phones based on the A15 architecture. In the mean time, theres nothing wrong with my Galaxy Nexus :-) :-)

Galaxy Nexus is a great phone. The screen is gorgeous.

Im not sure what you mean, my photon can play any game and run any app the SGS2 can with out issues. Moto blur is not all that but as far as performance goes, My Photon does great with the 2 main categories I bought it for, games and apps.

Hell yeah love technology always somethin new to talk about. Quad core phones should be lightning quit. An hopefully we some advances in battery technology so our phones don't need so much recharging. Ha we need Duracell and Energizer to enter the Mobile phone sector.lol

totally your opinion.
fact is lg is usually the first smartphone maker to release the latest technology. first touchscreen, first dual-core, first 3d, first display w. 700+ nits, first hd screen, first hsdpa+/lte phone. its only natural they release the first quad core.

Like I said below I go by international manufacturer release dates. And by those dates lg has all the firsts I listed. I didn't use announcement dates I use release dates.

no, the optimus 3d was released june 17 2011, the evo 3d was released june 24 2011. i never said lg makes better products i said that they release the newest technology first. and they do.
25. gkquiambao posted on 16 Feb 2012, 19:14 0 1
Yeah they release first. But all their products suck. Like the Optimus 2X. Its a piece of crap. The same goes with Optimus 3D. I kinda like the Optimus Black though.

Sooner doesn't mean better, especially when we're talking about LG and in such short of a time. Great spec sheets, terrible in real life. Its sad because I like LG too

I am still waiting to see how quad-core smartphones start to ship by March 31st (end of current quarter). Unless quad-core handsets are racked and stacked ready to go (and I would have expected at least one or two leaks to that effect by now), it ain't a-happening. At least not in the U.S.
Apple might be in position to ship a quad-core (A6) iPad by the end of March, but that is not a certainty given the Proview kerfuffle. And the iPad is not exactly a smartphone, either.
