I’m surprise. I would have thought that Samsung would be #1 then Nokia, specially with their new SUPER AMOLED. I believe that Nokia has learned their lesson. They now know what the new market is about. Although they still need some more tuning, they have listen well to the people and are releasing devices like the N8 (which I’ll be getting), C7 and E72. Well done Nokia but lets hope they start bringing out even better devices out with more OLED.

its easy to forget how large nokia is, in america. outsde of the US, they have a huge presence. They sell bazillions of cheap phones and smart phones. They do alot of expansion in places like africa with cheap phones where they are pretty much the only supplier. They dont make nearly as much money perphone as say Apple or HTC though. Sheer volume doesnt always mean the most $$

The problem nokia has is that even being the number 1 global phone seller it is not the number 1 money earner...it lags far beyond it´s competitors in profit. That´s nokia real problem it does not make money as it should. Apple earns more money than nokia selling A LOT less (it´s not even in that figures).

Im surprised HTC isnt on the list (unless you count "Others"). Since HTC doesnt seem to make any "handsets" which I guess is why they arent on the list. They make quality not quantity it would seem. I wonder if they broke it down by smartphone sales only how it would shake out. Anyway, I havent seen a Nokia Smartphone I would want to bother with.. even the Samsung Galaxy S I find a bit plain. I find it surprising the RIM still shows up high on the list as they only make PDA/Smartphones, and not so good ones at that.

I, too, was hoping ilia would have shown his "face" in this post so I could smear egg all over it. Good job, Nokia!
