0. phoneArena 31 Jul 2012, 03:39 posted on

According to a report by market research firm Strategy Analytics, smartphone sales have fallen in Q2 2012, compared to the same quarter last year. Pretty much all mobile OS's have seen their sales shrink a bit, except for iOS...

Many consumer intend to buy cheap iphone3gs instead of other because it can operate the latest ios6, whereas other still stuck at the gingerbread and BB os 2.0...

Nope, it is b-c iPhones are sold by almost all big carriers unlike last year when only AT&T did it. I expect Android will take back the market share with JB.

That's just my assumption... I can't conclude such way because i'm not in US... But overall the smartphone can't sell well is because they satisfy the current phone... Or it is unnessesary to buy superphone

don't get too excited just yet. Remember this is with the iPhone 4S. The iPhone 5 is probably going to continue this increase

I think existing users will stay with iPhone b-c they have invested too much on Apple's walled garden of apps and proprietary accessories.

New users will go with Androids b-c they have more choices and people are not stupid to buy more expensive and less capable phones.

Come on lets be honest, iPhone 5 will dominate if its any good. Even a handful of Android users will consider buying the phone. You need to remember that the crazy pro-Android people you find on this site is in no where reflective of the general population.

As I wrote before you can acces to it by any apps that supports sharing or by going to with widjets, toggles and interactive notifications (that iOS doesn't have at all) in fact in iOS is partly integrated compared to how it can be injected into Android :D.

Accept the loss and save your remaining iTroups :P

And one day, maybe in iOS 8 you will have the full integration of social apps ^^

P.S. Android has apps ecosystem, you cannot talk about it without considering them, same thing for iOS

I'll just use iFan logic. Most of those people were waiting for the release of the Galaxy S3.

Gee, that was fun and easy.

Now you have it, fandroids. What do you say now after flaming on Cooks explanations? In Q2, HTC and Samsung allready released their flagships, ergo it was Android's strong quarter. I better say: it should have been...

Now, the iPad sales are high as ever and the iPhone 5 has yet to make its appearance, as will Windows Phone 8. Good luck, i'll lean back as i wait for fandroids making excuses.

actually, the 3rd quarter will be better for Android as the SGS3 was released in 3Q in the states....

Gs3, one x, atrix hd, and still not as strong as apples US quarter. Wowww not bashing, but that is a shocker. in the US apple does rule the nest though.

GS3 was very late 2nd quarter, maybe even third. Nice try though.

Really nice try cause there where the whole Sony lineup of Xperia S, U and P, the HTC X, S and V, the CES (aka Android tablet-showoff) and - pathetic try to deny it - of the Galaxy S3. It was announced in early May, so very early in Q2 and then got Samsungs fastest global rollout ever - Q2 was the quarter of Android flagships. Q3 started only 30 days ago.)

(Sorry for my not-so-good english. I am european-living. In Germany, Europes strongest economics, Apple is ruling the nest just like in the US, i can tell you. And now go thumbing down facts.)

SGS3 started in 2nd quarter outside of the US. Didn't start selling in the US until mid-late July (just in case you don't know, mid-late July would consider 3rd quarter). It's a common fact that all other devices had slow sales around the world, especially US with Apple banning products left and right. Talk about facts and talk about fear of competition.
