Purported Galaxy S IV benchmark results appear

0. phoneArena 12 Feb 2013, 06:55 posted on

And here it is - the Galaxy S IV has finally appeared in the online database of GLBenchmark. Of course, we shouldn't take this information too seriously yet, because it may easily be some other device, but for now the sources are pretty excited about these results, and even if there's the slightest chance of them being true, this means that it's impossible for us to ignore them...

ok please correct that last line, grammar wise it's terrible, and If I have a phone that big it's for multimedia purposes such as watching movies, and I don't think I'll be the only one watching it, so I'll like for other people to be able to see, or me if I just so happen to need to move across and son't want to move my phone

And Plus I love Amoled Screens sure they are over saturated and the reproduction is completely natural, but you should know that samsung has given you the ability to change the settings if you so please, Plus I Love the over-saturation, If i wanted natural colours I would buy a blackberry curve or something, I love to see the colours pop, Since when did we care about natural colours when years ago we use to turn up the contrast to insane levels saying the the "natural colours" were too muted, mankind needs to make up it's mind on what it wants from a smartphone

Seldom join in stupid debates because they are simply that, stupid. I have the HTC One X+ which is generally acnowledged as perhaps the best screen out there to date and you will be hard pushed when watching a film on it to suggest it is better than that of the Xperia T which I also own. The screen on the Xperia Z is much better than that of the Xperia T and I am not sure there is much debate there, so what is likely to be wrong with this given that the same arguments apply. I love the screen of my Xperia T and marginally prefer watching films on it to the HTC. As for viewing angles, I don't share my media content with others, I am usually plugged into my headphones when enjoying my media content, anyway if they want to watch a movie they can pretty darn well go pay for it, I do. If I do want a friend to watch it, they can borrow the phone and enjoy in full stereo, afterall, who wants to listen to the sound through the speakers of a mobile phone!

Why would a galaxy s4 use an old dual core snapdragon ?!?

I think this is probably their internal testing prototype. They do that to compare and evaluate the performance of new Exynos version.

I do not think the 8 core processor will be in the Galaxy S IV. It's too new and I think it may be in the Note III when they launch that in the Summer/Fall of 2013.

They most Likely will, just because of the fact that the always release the international version of their phone with an Exynos Processor and then change it depending on the region

S4 pro is terribly inefficient, overheats to the point your phone explode, and can't even handle 1080p.

It's becasue i don't like the snapdragon chips. I want sgs4 to be unique and different from other flagships that are powered by qualcomm's chips despite being powerfull.

The Nexus 4 performs much better than the DNA, so I would hardly say that it is the best in the market. If the DNA proves anything, it is that 1080p screens need something more powerful than the S4 pro.

You know that the Samsung Octa core is not REALLY an octa core, do you?

I will probably not going to buy an SIV, but if I would, I will want the best SoC available. Not the one that is different, just to be different.

If Samsung really going to use Qualcomm over they own Soc, that is because their SoC is not good enough OR is not ready.

I know that these are preliminary specs, but if that is the best that we have in the SIV it is no comparison to the iPad 4. That means an A7 will crush this processor even at dual core. So I can't imagine an A7 quad core going up against this SIV. It would be a complete land slide in terms of benchmarks and performance.

The A7 in the iPhone 5s won't be nearly as powerful as the A6x. The A6x is built for a huge battery and to push the high resolution. Don't be surprised if they just retweak the A6 for the iphone 5s.

From what I understand the A6 and A6X chipset architecture is the same. They have improved the speed of the GPU chip.

Yes the GPU is a quad core instead of the dual in the iPhone 5. Plus the A6X is clocked way higher. Like I said, a huge difference and whatever is in the iPhone 5s won't come close to either the GS4 or iPad 4.

Just think about the difference between an i5 dual core and anything ARM. Comparing the A6X with a mobile phone chip set is.......LOL

The iPhone 5s or 6 won't be nearly as powerful as the iPad 4 and neither would any mobile handset. The iPhone 6 will push less than 720p and whatever is in the GS4 will push 1080p max. The A6x has to push 2048 x 1500. Its just a completely different class.

CreeDiddy could be right. If the A7 is based on the PowerVR series 6, we're looking at 100 GFLOPS at the very least. ipad 4 is rated at 76.8 GFLOPS in comparison.

Can you provide a dedicated GPU into an iPad, let alone an iPhone? This is an apples to oranges comparison. You are talking about an NVidia GPU desktop graphics card vs. onboard GPU embedded into the CPU of an iPhone/iPad.

Yeah, I don't believe this is the real GS4. It's probably their internal testing model to compare with Exynos 5 performance.
There is chance that they might go with S600 or S800 snapdragon for US models but there is no way they will put the same old S4 MSM8960 from last year's phone into GS4.

I hope Samsung will get a little smarter with how they manufacture their phones. Everyone loves high end specs, myself included, but a 5" screen is really off putting to me, and i know many others who don't enjoy this trend.
At the same time i know there's a lot of desire for large screen phones! What i hope on a daily basis, is Samsung releasing the S4 in at least 2 different screen sizes.
I know it's possible to keep the high end specs in a smaller form! I personally think 4.3 - 4.6 screen size is the sweet spot! Anyone think of a reason as to why they wouldn't consider this an option?

They will have an SIV mini I'm sure. One reason I could think as to why they would lessen the internals though, would be to prevent stealing the SIV's thunder. ASUS does the same with their tablets. There can only be one top dog is their idea I guess.

It isn't the manufacturers problem. The iphone 5 is less than 720p and that screen resolution is fine because they never mention the actual resolution, they just say 326 ppi.

With Android on the other hand, people see 4.3 inches but only 720p. They don't realize that it is 342 ppi and automatically assume it is low end next to the 1080p screens.

The Acer cloud mobile and Xperia V has the same internals and resolution as the One X and GS3, yet Android fans refuse to call the former high end phones but have no problem calling the latter high end phones.

The Xiaomi Phone 2 has the same internals as the Xperia Z, Nexus 4, Optimus G, Droid DNA, probably the M7 and has a 4.3 720 p display for $299 and people still complain that Android doesn't have any smaller high end phones.

When Samsung does introduce the GS4 mini with the same internals as the GS4 with a 4 inch 720 p instead of a 5 inch 1080p display, they need to educate the Android consumers that it is pretty much just as high end. They both scale to be about the same, meaning if you blow up that 720p 4 inch screen to 5 inches, it would be the equivalent to the 5 inch 1080p or pretty close at least.

And customers need to understand that the GS4 mini will probably perform better if they have the same internals because it would push less pixels. In theory, they could actually lower the internals in the GS4 mini and it would perform just as good as the main GS4 since the mini would push less pixels, it doesn't need the same internals. That is how Apple does it. When the screen size is small, you can design a high end screen that is less than 720p.

It is similar to a car versus a truck. The truck will have a more powerful engine because it needs to push the extra weight. That doesn't mean the car is lower end or lesser though.

Hmmm. The S4 pro is probably good enough for the GS4 mini though since it only has to push 720p or less. It would be the fastest phone if it had a similar resolution to the iphone 5.

Maybe this is the GS4 mini and they mistakenly listed the 1080 p resolution. Otherwise, I see no reason to use the S4 pro for their flagship. With Sony and HTC, they have no choice. It is either S4 pro, Tegra 4, or delay the Xperia Z/M7 until the Qualcomm 600/800 comes out. Samsung must have more choices than a S4 pro, I hope.

Who cares if its using a Snapdragon or not. Im using an S4 Pro device as we speak and it NEVER lags or stutters and runs any game at 100% with no hiccups and executes tasks instantly.

The hardware race is dead boys and girls. If there is no difference in day to day use; then who cares about benchmark scores. All that matters at this point is improving battery life.

Yeah But Samsung phones are known to have a slight lag with Snapdragons take The S3 and S2 for instance, Samsung's Exynos Processors are truly optimized for use with their phones, so I don't need the octo-core, but I do want an Exynos (notice I said "slight", it's only noticeable if you compare it to a phone using an Exynos processor other than that it runs superbly )

Im using an Optimus G which runs the S4 Pro of course and LG's custom skin. The processor was not specifically tailored for this UI; but it still runs 100% stutter and lag free.

To sum it up simply: The S4 Pro runs Android 100% lag free regardless of the skin.
