0. phoneArena 04 Feb 2014, 23:19 posted on
A published report on Tuesday suggests that Apple has resumed production of the previously discontinued Apple iPhone 4. The device was replaced in the iPhone line up last September by the Apple iPhone 4s. The full-featured Apple iPhone 5s is the high-end flagship model with the Apple iPhone 5c in the mid-range slot. The Apple iPhone 4s is the low-end model with the Apple iPhone 5 put out to pasture...

Wat it cost more then a brand new HTC one x (Gsm), ppl who are still buying are just desperate to have an apple bitten in their pocket

I know.. You can get Grand 2, xperia zr and the lenovo k900 and Nokia 920 for almost the same price. Those who buy this will undoubtedly be isheep. Heck most of them won't buy. One must be real desperate to own an apple product to buy this phone.

Although for 12-15k it's a good phone though. But no way apple will sell it at those prices.

They're poor people pretending to be rich. India has a lot of people that will buy this because the 5s is way out of their league but they can pretend to be rich because they have some Apple product.

No one pretends to be rich here. If that was the case, then Apple would have had double digit marketshare with the iPhone 4 leading sales. We all are happy to be middle class people. :)
23. NokiaFTW (Posts: 2058; Member since: 24 Oct 2012)
And also out of all emerging markets, Apple has one of the lowest brand value in India. Even rich or upper class people tend to have high end Galaxies instead of an iPhone 5S here.

Sad to know that somebody will fall for this.

Anyone buying iPhone 4 at that price is a fool. Adding salt to the wound, its a mere 8 gb.
4. GeekMovement (Posts: 1833; Member since: 09 Sep 2011)
Yikes that's really dirt value for the price. Maybe if it was a 16GB iPhone 4S...

4 ain't bad phone, but it is after all it's very old. Single core was more than enough when it had iOS 6, but iOS 7 needs more power. And after all, while 4S is still a champ for some time, there is no way around it that 4 should retire.

Just out of curiosity, I remember apple advertisng " Trade In Your Iphone 4 ", Could this be the refurbished units being sold as new ???????????????
14. promise7 (Posts: 523; Member since: 03 Jul 2013)
Apple advertised or carrier/retail store? I've never seen Apple advertise any sort of trade in deal, carriers/retail stores on the other hand do it all the time. What they do with those phones I'm not sure.

What? ₹15,000 with installments? A brand new 16gb Nexus 5 costs just a fraction more. Wonder what Apple are smoking.

It's for those people who wants to show off, but don't want to spend so much money on the newer iPhone 5s. But you will end up in embarrassment, because the phone you're holding is an old iPhone 4, not a new iPhone 5s.
A guy who bought an iPhone 4 and wants to show off to his friends: "Hey, look! I got an iPhone 4!"
Friend: "That's an old sh*t, hahahaha..."
If you don't want to spend so much, why not get a Huawei Ascend P6 for a cheaper price and better than the iPhone 4? Or spend a bit more on the Nexus 5? Yes, these two phones aren't the phones for showing off, but hey, at least you got a better phone than the old iPhone 4.

No dude, they put a heavy looking case on it and everyone will think it's a 5s. That's the best part about Apple devices, with a case on they all pretty much look the same.

Dude, even if people have the money to buy a high end flagship, they tend to ignore Apple and invest in Samsung or Sony's handsets. I doubt that anyone will buy this.

Nexus 5 is not of same price not even close to i4.
It costs about 29000 INR($485) .8GB Moto G costs the same15,000 INR($243) which is still too pricey as compared to other countries...

Showing total disregard and disrespect for emerging markets - but these markets are THE FUTURE! This will come back to haunt you Apple if you let this kind of thinking continue. PRODUCT DUMPING is NOT the way to do business! Why not just make a non LTE iPhone 5C with 8GB memory and maybe 5MP Camera using the same camera sensor as the iPads, maybe event drop the LED Flash since its not entirely necessary. Do they hate the emerging consumer that much that they are not willing to just spend a little cash developing a more suitable model for them?
21. NokiaFTW (Posts: 2058; Member since: 24 Oct 2012)
I agree with you. India is the 3rd largest smartphone market, and yet Apple have only 1% of the marketshare due to they're stupid and insanely high pricing for something that should not really be called a flagship.
15. Bozzor (Posts: 154; Member since: 02 May 2012)
Actually, the iPhone 4 has a great screen, very impressive battery life and access to the most comprehensive apps. Sure, it's an old phone, but it is well made and will give people access to the world of Apple for a very low price. It's not for everyone, but it will appeal to more than a few...

But Apple should not continue to sell such old hardware especially if it's almost 4 years old. I wouldn't be surprised if Apple drops the 4 from ios 8 or start stripping features from the os to make it run. My first gen ipad was crippled because it was stuck on a old version of ios; many apps want the newer os.
24. NokiaFTW (Posts: 2058; Member since: 24 Oct 2012)
They have no option but to sell it since they have just 1% marketshare in the country. They sell a 2 year old iPhone 4S at a price more than a Nexus 5 or Lumia 925. They can never have any success in India unless they lower they're pricing.
19. Lycan155 (Posts: 113; Member since: 24 Nov 2013)
At least they prpbably get updated to ios8 unlike grand 2 and the other samsung phones :p
25. NokiaFTW (Posts: 2058; Member since: 24 Oct 2012)
But why would Grand 2 and other Samsung phones get updated to iOS 8 since they run Android ??
26. gallitoking (Posts: 4700; Member since: 17 May 2011)
Haters will hate.. just be happy that iphone 4 can reach those markets.. Apple offers more than a phone. I could explain but haters hear but don't listen..
30. EclipseGSX (Posts: 1684; Member since: 18 Oct 2011)
I'm listening gallito. I'd like to know your thoughts on what Apple offers that other OEM's don't.
27. ThePython (Posts: 498; Member since: 08 May 2013)
Is it too hard to just make the 4s cheaper? Or even the 5c (pushing the line)?
I love Apple products, but they're so goddamn ignorant for refusing to lower the prices a -little bit-, hell they would earn a lot more with older models if they did this.

The Fandroids on this page are beyond stupid. This is a business.
Business 101. Make a product that people want to buy, then sell as many of them as possible at full price.
If the people of India can only afford the iPhone 4, and Apple can sell say 1 million iphone 4 in a year, that's $230 million dollars that Apple generated on a outdated phone they retired. Pretty simple to understand. It's a business.
29. kindlefireowner (Posts: 480; Member since: 05 Dec 2011)
I forgot to throw in that those people buying the iPhone 4 will spend money on iTunes and the app store generating more income for Apple.
31. cripton805 (Posts: 1127; Member since: 18 Mar 2012)
Why don't the offer an upgraded budget iPhone. Even the 5c Isn't a true budget iPhone and they were stupid to think that it was going to sell well.
I mean Cmon. Look at the Motorola G compared to the iPhone 4... The Moto G is much further ahead and cheaper.
They need a low end 4" iPhone with a decent camera, processor, and still keeps a budget friendly quality material. The iPhone 4 specs are way too old by todays standards.

People here in indonesia prefer to buy high specs android phone from local or chinese manufaturers rather than this old phone..!!
