Getting yet another tease in the form of the handset finally going live on Samsung’s product page, it doesn’t reveal anything too juicy that some of us are aching to obtain regarding the upcoming smartphone. So far, it’s relatively light in terms of detailing...

the fact that it still doesnt say "exynos" really worries me.
sammy if u fail me, im moving.. well crap.. to another sammy... lol .. to the galaxy nexus (nexus prime still sounds better!! lol)

I agree. If it has a Snapdragon it will be FAIL. At this point I would just wait for a Samsung Nexus Prime with the TI OMAP 4460 1.5GHz dual-core processor.

hate to say it but it does have a different chip other than exynos. Tmobile wanted their new flagship device to be capable of delivering 42mbps on their HSPA+ network. if you didnt know exynos is only capable of 21mbps.

And if thats the case...then the carriers have a bigger role in Samsung delays and things than I thought. I used to say blame both..I think you still can but damn T Mobile.
Well....in T Mo eyes the network speed you get is more important that what chip it comes with. Cant be mad at em...

the european version's paired radio was only capable of 21mbps. They COULD have developed a radio to pair with the exynos that goes up to 42mb/s. They are going to have to anyways as many of their "high end" phonse are exynos for the forseeable future and 42mb/s is going to be more common.
As of right now the only chip/radio pair that is capable of 42 is the frikkin S3 snapdragon. However, that could change at any moment.... and hopefully when they do release the specs for the Herc, it will be a big surprise to everyone that they did modify the chip.
And if not, the Nexus comes out right behind it.. whats another month after this 6 or 8 month stretch waiting on the SGS2.

ok i finally found the video on youtube where a samsung spokesperson actually says the tmobile version uses a different dual core processor.
at about 3:00 mins into the video the guy talks about the different processor used for each phone. sorry to disappoint guys. i still will be getting the tmobile version regardless.

well darn it.. i guess thats pretty conclusive evidence that its not gonna have exynos.
well, imma act like an iBot and stick my head in the sand and ignore every bit of evidence until i get to see the hercules live. ;)

I was wondering about what chip would really be better the exynos or the ti omap. I mean, yeah in pure processing power the TI does edge ahead but doesnt it also use an old GPU that was used in the previous galaxy s series?
17. remixfa posted on 09 Sep 2011, 10:46 0
umm. the exynos crushes the OMAP.. it crushes all of them, and in pretty much every category.

I seen on another site that it will not be the exynos on this version of the phone..

the samsung epic 4g has exynos...or at least a chip that has the same exact quadrant score...

you will probably not read this but its up to the manufacturers in terms of specs.
4. darth8ball posted on 08 Sep 2011, 16:11 0
Samsung is the manufacturer of the Galaxy line. T-mo is the carrier
11. remixfa posted on 08 Sep 2011, 20:36 0
you know why your not going to read that? because its not completely true.
Carriers get final say of any device they sell, spec wise and software wise. If tmobile was willing to trade the Exynos chip for the Snapdragon chip to get to 42mb/s now, then samsung will comply. They want to sell phones on carriers. Carriers are the king and manufacturers are the paupers.
Kinda funny that way, and I wish it wasnt true.. but it is.

although for the most part this is true..correct me if im wrong but only apple gets to make the phone however they want and carriers don't have a say over it.
although i would never get an iphone becuase it doesnt have flash.
18. remixfa posted on 09 Sep 2011, 10:48 0
which is also the reason VZW initially turned down the iphone because they didnt want to change the rules for anyone. ATT took the deal because they were desperately losing to VZW and wanted to catch up.
Yes, Apple is the lone anomaly in the american system. Ive been kind of hoping that since samsung is becoming so big that they would be able to push back against the carriers, but I guess that they aren't going to.

Will it say at Samsung's site? Moto has a site called Motodev that gives detailed specs of their devices. Maybe Samsung has a similar site..
All we need is someone to use a system tool or benchmark app to see if it says Adreno

No matter what happens with the galaxy phones phonearena will give it an 8.0 because it is outdated, seriously i bet it will be placed as a con or it took too long to reach the states... They will do something stupid and outrageous like that even though it took almost a year to get the iphone 4 to verizon.

We cant say for sure until we see how well it works, being it will be the first phone running ICS it might be buggy... so we will have to wait and see
